The idea that banks will steal your money is a lie.

Banks offer better storage facilites, both on ground and virtually, for your money. And then some banks offer interest bearing savings account...meaning you can keep your money in the bank and it would make more money

But you can keep your money at home if you want, there is no stopping you, my maternal grandmother did it, and at her death, she had a large pile in her strongbox. Her kids were shocked. But the problem is, assuming fire or rat attacks....problem go happen.

Now, lets' assume that she kept her money in the bank and rat got into the strong room and ate it...bank can simply replace the money for her and she won't even know (Bank would also award a contract for a better strong room, can't have rats eating more customer's money).

If the bank collapses, she can even get some or even all her money back because all banks insure their deposits via the Nigeria deposit Insurance corporation or NDIC. See the recent Heritage Bank collapse, where NDIC Intervened and paid people back money, and some even got all their money back.
