It's being a very good and interesting experience for me in germany since I landed on 5th October. On Monday, I paid for my accommodation and went for the registration which I got appointment for 16th of October. Yesterday, I visited my school for enrolment which got not upto 2 minutes. Its being good and stressless. Have it in mind, I don't have anybody in germany but I am navigating very well.

Hi everyone! I'm new to researching the Japa movement and I'm particularly interested in the Germany Student Route for a BSc. Could someone explain what Category A and Category B mean? Also, do I need to apply for my visa before applying to the university? Thanks!

Congratulations to You! I have a question that's been quite confusing for me. Could you please provide a step-by-step breakdown of the overall requirements for the Germany Student Route? Thank you!

My process was done in the UAE and I found out they is great difference between the two countries regarding German student visa processing. Like, in the UAE my original documents were not asked of or checked. I went with less documents.
Admission letter
Fintiba document
First degree certificate

International passport
Passport photograph.
However, the process I got was gaining admission from German University, book appointment with the embassy, fund my fintiba block account and prepare for the interview.
Those guys that got the visa from Nigeria will give a better guidelines on requirements and documentation. Cheers.

If you are coming into Germany as a student please master ur modules. I was asked to mention them at the point of entry. I was also asked to login to my student portal.
I have a very flexible study . Once in a week and for just one hour.

Yes, you'll need to apply for a visa appointment before getting admission.

The current wait time for a category B appointment is just over 2 years.

You're in Category A if

> You're a PHD student
> You have a scholarship financed by German public funds
> You hold a first class bachelors degree

*Everybody* else is in Category B.

If you noticed they have a what's app group. People are moving there instead of making this thread interesting with enough information. I hope this won't be the beginning of the end of this wonderful thread due to such practice

Bro,pls share your number so I can DM you for the getting resident permit in Ghana for visa appointment date

quote author=Kultony

post=122212527]I'm not used to this, but I believe someone may find this helpful.

I booked a visa appointment in Lagos on 29th of April, 2022. I have not gotten an appointment up till now. Frustrated by the delay and stress of following my classes online, I got a resident permit that allowed me attend my visa interview In Ghana.

Had my visa interview in German embassy, Accra on 20th February, 2023. Got an approval mail at about 10am on 17th of March, 2023 and pick my passport with visa stamp on 27th of March, 2023.

I will honestly advise you to explore the possibility of processing your visa outside Nigeria, if you have the means and desire to achieve your Deutschland dream. It comes with sacrifice, my dear!

DM me if you need guidance.

All the best and see you in Deutschland!

P.S. I have cancelled my Lagos appointment to give chance for people who still want to wait for Lagos, even though I feel it doesn't worth the stress.
Good Day,

This post is a bit old, but I have some questions. How long does it typically take to navigate this path? If I choose to apply for a residence permit, how long might it take to get an appointment date?

Is applying for a residence permit necessary?
How long did it take you to get your appointment date?

i'd appreciate a step-by-step breakdown of the process. Thank you!

Do I need to apply for a German visa before applying to the university? How long does it typically take to get my visa approved, and how does the appointment date fit into this process? I appreciate any insights!

Really? Is the UAE an easier route compared to waiting up to 2 years for a German appointment date? Did you have to apply for a residence permit while in the UAE?

Yes, you'll need to apply first for an appointment

I don't know how long it takes for a visa to be approved(After the appointment) but reading the thread so far it seems to be 5 - 6 months

Basically, the appointment date is the day you enter the German embassy to conduct your interview with a Visa Officer, and drop relevant documents, that's when the process really starts.

Hello, my brother! Congratulations on your safe arrival in Germany. I’ve been following your updates up until today. I’m currently going through a similar process as you did when you applied for your visa while in Dubai.

I received my obligation letter today and plan to visit the embassy here in Thailand, as there are many appointments to navigate. My visa for Thailand expires on December 12th, so I have a little over two months left. I’m planning to submit my application this month. Do you think my residence permit expiring in two months could be a problem for my application?
i also have my enrollment certificate and letter of late arrival from the school and school resumes 0ct 14th Free University of berlin.

The embassy gave dates today to category B applicants, so the train is moving once again; they are now in 14th September 2022. It’s not sure if they gave beyond that date today tho.

As long as you have being in the country for over 6 months it's fine.

Can you shed more light on this waiting period? Alot of applicants are here waiting for more than 1 year now. Are you in category A or B? Kindly share with us. I am personally confused.

Thanks

You're highly appreciated. I got the mail of the schedule on Friday.

Moreso, do you mind sharing the experience at their Lagos Embassy as I had the experience of the Abuja last year?
The lagos embassy was pretty cool. My appointment was for 9am but I got ther 6:50 and was attended to. Make sure you have all your original documents as they will be checked by Mr Paulinus. Also dont carry cash, carry your card amd make sure the card is working because i was actually shouted at for bringing cash. Then make sure all your documents are signed.
After we got past all these, the interview was actually cool and short. Make sure you answer all the questions concisely. Dont say too much so that you dont get into trouble. Also dont say you can speak german if you cant because you will be tested on that. And make sure you are able to defend the money in your blocked account
