ThatNaijaNigger:Peter Obi would have devalued the Naira as Cardoso had done and then borrowed money -- taking even from the foreign reserves --to shore it up like Cardoso had also done? ![]() |

HedgesTV:Everyone knows that's the only solution Obi said he would borrow 12 billion dollars that he had the connections The Koko is what you use the borrowed money to do APC from Buhari to Tinubu now keep borrowing to build infrastructure with the hope that the infrastructure would kick start development Not only are the infrastructure over inflated they are sighted wrongly so can't even breakeven So they just increase our debt service, increase recurrent expenditure and have absolutely no increase in revenue Obi solution is to borrow money Give it to the people, support business especially in export potential business and import substitutes 1) you create employment 2) you boost revenue, as this businesses come for the needed loan you capture them into the tax net 3) you don't increase debt service per say as the people would pay back the loan This can kick start a chain of events that kick start the economy OBi and Tinubu are not the same |

Peter Obi is just being petty with his statements. How can you be borrowing money to pay another debt? That's a reckless statement from him |

.. 🤔 Buhari borrowed and we condemned him for that. Tinubu is currently borrowing and we're also condemning him for it. .. now Obi says he too would've borrowed. This simply means that Nigeria is a VERY POOR COUNTRY (although the country is massively endowed with valuable resources). |

Peter speaks English like someone who didn't attend primary school. The man is very dull, very slow, barely literate and deficient in honesty. |

mrvitalis:🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Give it to the same Nigerians we have come to know of abi na different set of Nigerians completely removed from the current crop we know as Nigerians? ![]() I don't agree with you and Obi at all. At this point in time, anyone coming in with any more simplistic solutions that do not include the initial massive overhauling of the existing system and uprooting of corruption from the bottom-up and top-down concurrently is only playing games with your mind. It all needs to be completely overhauled. ![]() |

The difference? Obi actually has a plan! Tinubu is clueless as fuk. I would be surprised if Tinubu actually wipes his ass himself. ![]() Obi is sure as a frugal money manager that he could have borrowed 15 billion dollars, for instance to DEFEND THE NAIRA , KNOWING FULLY WELL, that the resultant currency appreciation, IF CHANNELLED TO THE APPROPRIATE SECTORS could give the economy the much needed "bolus of glucose" it needs to return 150 billion dollars back. It's all about having a plan! Obi has always been about BORROW TO CHANNEL TO THE REAL PRODUCTIVE SECTORS AND NOT TO CONSUME BY spending recklessly on cars, yachts and private jets.. If I have a business that I know if I put in $2 will return $6.. why won't I borrow to put into it if I don't have the initial funding for it? ![]() Don't forget! Obi is a business man! He is a billionaire from wholesale and retail... you think he doesn't know a thing or two about money management? You call him container economist but THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED TO DIG US OUT OF THIS MESS. |

Dismantle the cartels of corruption who are all economic saboteurs, cut down the cost of governance and Nigeria will move forward. Doesn't matter who does it, the country is choking! |

phantom:His plan, which could have worked back maybe during the Jonathan years, sucks! Coming in to throw money at the problem is only going to deepen the people's debt status while achieving nearly nothing in the end. Nigeria is already crippled and the systems in place today need to be completely overhauled before Nigeria and Nigerians can move forward. ![]() |

phantom:Channelled to the appropriate CORRUPTION-RIDDLED sector could give the economy the much needed "bolus of glucose" it needs? Are you for real? ![]() 2. What good is this plan if it does not deal— first and in totality— with the underlying problem that has brought Nigeria to its knees in less than 25 years of its democracy and left the future of over 200 million Nigerians up in the air? How does pouring more money down the same black hole that has consumed everything else that has been directed at it with nothing to show in the end amount to having a plan given all we know at this point? ![]() |

Kobojunkie:Your concerns are very valid Kobo, and I share them BUT you see Peter Obi? That man is the only man with the will to fight the corruption you are talking about. He has acknowledged these same concerns repeatedly and was the only one of the three ready to make the sacrifices, leading by example. For instance, Obi would have strictly limited the access to cheap dollars to productive sectors like manufacturing, agriculture etc and would have monitored it personally. It's all about the will of the leader. Knowing obi, he's plan wasn't just to throw money at the problem. Obi is ready to disburse that money himself bypassing your cbn/ finance ministry if necessary. Kobojunkie:I simplified that part it's a very complex process and not to individual per say but businesses Say take pharmaceutical industry for example You call Top 25 industry players...ask them 1) what do you import that you can produce here if money is not an issue and how much it would cost 2) what would it take for you to become a net exporter of drugs across say west Africa They list their demands You agree with them and banks 2 billion dollars made available to banks at 2 percent interest rate for 15 years first 5 years zero interest and zero repayment Banks. Loan to this companies at not more than 10% interest with first 5 years zero payment B) you think those companies that left Nigeria would leave if you offered them 100 million dollars 2% intense rate for 10 years with first 5 years no payment in exchange for more sourcing of materials locally? Bros what you don't know is bigger than you Developmental economics is no joke |

phantom:1. His record in public office does not back up this claim of yours. ![]() 2. If you are speaking of the last election, all 4 of the top candidates were not qualified and this was based on their records in public office at the time. So, and this idea of limiting access to cheap dollars... are you insinuating that Obi would have equally devalued the Naira as Tinubu did? Or are you stating that if elected in the future, Obi would proceed according to this idea of borrowing billions on top of Nigeria as e dey so? 3. I don't believe in the "will" of leaders but rather in the will of the people. Any person coming next who is not ready to sit back, and do nothing else but supervise the complete overhauling of the System that has existed for the last 25 years, will only be there to pour more money down the corruption drain and balloon Nigeria's debt with nothing to show. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:Kobo, how should this overhauling be done? What do you suggest? |
| Re: Peter Obi : I Would’ve Borrowed Money To Defend The Naira! (video) by Kobojunkie: 11:20pm On Oct 11, 2024 |
mrvitalis:Nigerians ehn! Una too like to they throw theory around like say una no know by now that these things don't work as you like to fantasize when thrown against reality as coded in Nigeria. Why? Because corruption, a black hole, sits comfortable behind the scenes to ensure it never works as it is supposed to. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:You dey mouth this corruption as if the rest of us don't know it is the number 1 problem. You talk of this corruption as if there's no hope. Oya, make we kuku nuke the whole country make everybody rest. The way you speak about corruption, its like even Jesus himself shouldn't bother coming to lead Nigeria. I ask again. What do you suggest? The president is just one man.. he will do his best BUT he can't monitor you in that your small admin office in one federal University in osun or enugu state. Kobo, if you were president, what would you do? |

phantom:Do you recall the recent call by protestors during the #EndBadGovernance protest for a complete overhauling of the Constitution? Well, Nigeria could benefit a tremendous lot from that at this point. Almost every policy and law signed in the last 9 years basically, should all be thrown out into the trash. I can go on and on but the long and short is Nigeria does not need someone to come to patch up the current system— put more bandage or plaster over the problem. Instead, what the country needs... if it is to begin to move in the right direction... is someone to come in and throw out the trash, overhaul, and give Nigerians a chance to start over on a new slate driven by the people and not those you refer to as your leaders. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:Fine, I agree we need a new constitution. But our problems have solutions that can be grouped into short , medium and long term. Where do you think a constitutional change falls into? Let's be realistic. What time frame does it belong to? |

phantom:1. Do you know what a black hole is? What hope is there in front of a black hole called corruption? ![]() 2. Wetin concerns Jesus Christ of Israel with Nigeria and its problems of corruption? Abeg, stop trying to derail with unnecessary talk o'jare! 3. For the umpteenth time, overhaul the whole system so Nigerians can have a chance to start over with corruption no longer in their way and the people in the driving seat of democracy. The question you should ask yourself is why you are having a hard time visualizing this that I have been saying so far. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:What exactly is your point why exactly won't it work? Don't they already take loans? Don't they already have relationship with banks? Why would a company like juhel or emzor not pay back loans? People that take foreign debt? Has this thing ever been done in Nigeria? No Has it been done elsewhere and worked yes Just say you don't understand the concept

phantom:Those choices died with the inauguration of the Buhari regime... Corruption has since become the only short-term, medium-, and long-term problem in Nigeria. ![]() 2. It is the only possible solution that is available to this one problem which is corruption. ![]() |
