Egg production overseas is done primarily on an industrial scale. That helps keep prices low

In Nigeria, egg production is largely small scale. That means that overall , egg production cannot meet local.needs. then there is mode of transport which is higher than overseas( we don't have a well developed rail system for example and the road system is bad).

Add recent inflation thanks to bad apc polices and here we are

I have always argued that the Nigerian economy is generally unproductive because of misplaced priorities.

We build universities we do not need and cannot maintain when the land would have been put to agricultural/industrial use.

We build roads, airports and rails that are politically motivated rather than economic motivated.

Policies are instituted to keep majority of Nigerians poor and dependent on government handouts.

Governments encourage subservient means of living which ensures most Nigerians only aspire to feed for that day.

Most SMEs (not nano and micro businesses) are owned by politicians as a front and money laundering venture for thier looting of the public commonwealth which is why there is no real economic growth because those businesses don't care if they are productive or not as they depend on corrupt proceeds. Billions given to SMEs are actually just largesse to politicians which is why those investments have no significant impact on the economy.

Nigeria is in a terrible mess.
