The problem with you folks are the elites who should know better. You want an independent nation and you think this can be achieved with guns and machete in this century? Your senators, house of reps and governors have enough power to make it happen. What are they doing? Instead of insisting that they do what you want as they are constituted authorities, you are harming thugs with guns. Who does that? ThinkSmarter: |

Inosky:Gbamsolutely. Furthermore, the skewed and lopsided political structure also created by Hausa-Fulani loyal military dictators between 1967-1996 finally gave Nigeria and its crude oil resources to the hands of the Hausa-Fulani-controlled northern Nigeria. Northern region was turned into 20 new federating units (19 states and Abuja), whereas two regions - East and West - were given a meagre 17 new federating units. Thus, the northern region which claims least educated rakes in most of the proceeds from crude oil and largely decides who governs Nigeria. The fraudulent political structure suits the economic desires of the colonial masters of Nigeria. Colonial masters gave Nigeria independence on three regional structure - East, West and North. |

[quote author=attackgat What a joke!! You wish self-determination from a current union and you then go to your ex-colonial master after 64 years.. What's the rationale or stratedy for this approach? If you're not able to convince 40 millionplus yoruba people across at least two geopolitical zone to break away from the union either unilaterally or bilaterallly, then you have not sucessfully appeal and done your ground work. You get the buy in of the people, infuence and lead them to your vision. How do you lead when majority of the nation are out of touch with your agitation or objectives/aims? I wish igboho and his cohort well. What a shame he travelled all the well to No 10 and giave his petition to a security guard not even a cabinet member or goverment official.. What's this the expected outcome? What a decision!!! post=132401539]Yoruba Nation Leader, Sunday Igboho, arrived the seat of British Government today, at No 10 Downing Street, to submit a petition calling on the British government to support the independence of the Yoruba ethnic group from Nigeria[/quote] |

RealityOfReason:No, Alex ekwema had this idea of six regional government when he was in prison The north led by almado bello wanted secession, he was scared of being dominated by the yoruba's and the igbos cause back then things were done by merits, the north was poorly educated, they didn't have enough educated people to fill in the spot the whites were leaving behind when they were preparing to give Nigeria independence, almado bello could have been the prime minister of Nigeria but he didn't want to leave the north to Lagos so he opted to remain the prime minister of the north while his second in command balewa became the prime minister of Nigeria. the igbos at that time championed the one Nigeria campaign under zik Awolowo wanted federalism Although awolowo went to prison for treasonable felony, his journey to prison started of as a political conflict between him and Ladoke Akintola who was then the prime minister of western region |

Yemidiya:Whenever the heat on Tinubu's government gets higher, Oduduwa Republic agitation is invoked. Oduduwa Republic agitation was invoked during the last presidential election to send a message to the Hausa-Fulani that if Buhari did not hand over power to Tinubu, Oduduwa Republic agitation would be fully activated. It worked for Tinubu. Hausa-Fulani fears idea of division of Nigeria more than they fear religious insurgents in the North of Nigeria. Hausa-Fulani's Mahmood Yakubu of INEC had to do all the odd jobs to announce Tinubu as winner of the last presidential election in Nigeria. |

foolish goat, it's British government that would give you independence? from a sovereign country? like how stupid can you even be? that envelope would end up in the trash where it belongs. the slave mentality of Africans need to stop. all these fools calling for successions from Nigeria have no good intentions for the people they are misleading, everyone in Nigeria regardless of tribe is marginalised so far you are not rich or a political exposed person you are marginalised, no successions would solve that, our enemy is the same failed system that would only extend itself to any successions and become another failed system with a new branding. do not be mislead by these goats. |

Awesome01:Your 3 proffered options do not work in Nigeria. Party politics is held tight within the fold of the crook polithiefcians in the country, and no upright person shall get to top among them to topple their apple carts. By subtlety and strategic planning, the Yoruba Nation dream shall come to pass with little or no violence or bloodshed. Just keep on watching. |

attackgat:Igboho was a jester. On whose authority was he handing over the document? No wonder he was stopped at the door for one chef to collect the document from him. Igboho will taste Nigeria prison if he continues in this useless direction. |

Alliswell248:Your 5th Columnists led by Simon Ekpa, are rented to attack Igbo armed forces personel in the southeast, burn government buildings in the southeast, order excruciating sit at home upon the southeast; they have been on the beat in the southeast. Real Igbos don't order sit at home in the southeast. They know the deadly and economic implications. IPOB had a long time ago stopped ordering sit at home in the southeast. |

Ignorant will always be ignorant. A sovereign nation can’t hold referendums for another nation. It’s only United Nations General Assembly can receive such documents. |
