Nigeria Have Underdeveloped Yoruba Land by vanbonattel(op): 10:41am On Oct 13, 2024
When I saw the pictures of Sunday Igboho and his people submitting a petition for yoruba nation to Number 10 Downing Street London today, I was filled with a sense of sadness. We misunderstand ourselves here daily and abuse each other, but I think things should be better.

I was sad because these people are not supposed to be in the situation they are now. They are supposed to take full control of their land, their resources and their waterways and use same to develop their people and environment. They are really a brilliant tribe, no matter how we look at it, but their potentials have been stunted by the weight of an unworkable union in Nigeria.

Nigeria is more of a curse than a blessing for the Yoruba, and many other tribes in Nigeria, including Biafra and the Ijaw nations. I see yoruba nation as a viable country when formed, a country that will have some oil, some arable land, and a lot of quality human capital to take it ahead many other African countries.

The only yoruba people gaining in the union called Nigeria are a very tiny few, the corrupt never-do-wells among them, while the intelligent and brilliant minds from there are pushed aside and even chased abroad to go and compete with people from other countries.

All yoruba people should rise and demand for the exit of their people from Nigeria, their future as a separate country looks very promising.

Okay.

Is that all or you still have some things to add to this?

Are you among the less than 1% of Yoruba people who gain from corruption and keep the country and their people in poverty so they can answer big man?

Is that the additional message because I was expecting an epistle detailing more details about this thread.

Ready to learn.

Can we start all over again?

The next epistle is about who, or the calibre of people who can lead yorubaland to make it a great nation. I am sure they will never go for a drug addict, or the criminals among them.

The tribe is so much blessed with intelligent men and women that can lead it to prominence. Bad leaders are thrown up by the Nigerian syndrome.

You know, my own curiosity be say why are the town criers now crying more than the bereaved? Does that mean the town criers have no personal issue to worry about?

I think its time for Yoruba elites to start thinking of the possibility of a Yoruba nation.

The elites in the Nigeria union have exploited the masses for too long.

Yoruba land have been developed by the successive governors from the region.

The only exception is the current crop of governors in the region

You are really making a lot of noise about this, number 10 Downing Street is a public space, didn't look like internal affairs to me.

Why should Igboho's letter, dreams be your headache to start with when you are not from Igboho's region, abi SE na because the first 4 letters of his name sounded familiar hence trying to pokenose?

Don't you think having a country of your own can reign in these current governors who have learnt how to hide under a godfather who has federal backing to permit the governors to misbehave, after settling the godfather?

I think a nation of your own, with your own army, supreme court and internal security will benefit you more.

Where would you start from? Who are your current allies?

How long do you think your new country would take to be recognized? How long do you think allowing the new country to trade internationally would take?

How about your country passport, how many years would it take for western countries to recognize it?

Your own currency, chai una go need to struggle because outside your new country, it will be useless like a tissue paper.

Don't even let us talk about the formation of a new country where the same greediness, pettiness amongst people still exist.

Gain ke?

How can the resident rag of Nairaland gain? Ever heard of the frustrated old hags that vent secret anger due to their pitiable state by supporting anything others consider insane!

Imagine even the people who put the drug dealer there are getting fed up, this old 🤡 still holding up fine, despite the hunger ravaging his miserable life!

Untill evil, wretched clowns like these are cleansed off.....I don't reckon any tribe would be viable!

Please you said I should engage with you about this topic not based on region but generalization.

All you listed above there are no obstacles. None at all. If they were, Serbia, South Sudan etc would be still not recognised.

Better fight for better life and freedom now, than have your children live through slavery imposed on you by your own corrupt people.

Not just Yorubaland! Any honest assessment of where we have found ourselves as component parts or ethnicities of Nigeria will arrive at the same dire conclusion for ALL OF US!

The only parasitic schmucks still intent on preserving ‘one Nigeria’, either as is or as a unit in whatever form, are the hegemonic alliance that took over in the late 60s, and the political and *business (*those masquerading as entrepreneurs who owe their billions to their connections with gov’t or their ethnicity) elite from ALL ethnicities/regions!

Then we already defeated your arguments before it even started.

You can't even defend what you believe on by telling us how you intend to go about your new country in order to convince others.

The sad thing here is that there are some deluded mofos who are actually convinced that their ethnicity is ‘benefiting’ from Nigeria because one of theirs is president!
