Emmanuel900:Osun is a very rich state every body knows that. It's even richer than New York city. Oya tell your tribal father who's now at the helm of affairs to help you divide the country so Enugu the poor state will now go and be like Somalia and stop pulling rich Ekiti and Osun brown roof villages backwards. That is something patriots like you should be at the forefront of right now |

That's a fair tax and the intent is genuine. I don't support the idea of leaving a corpse in the morgue for so long. If it's about funds, bury the corpse and do the burial ceremony later. |

Atuero:The motivation is rather taxation and not the purported attempt to discourage people leaving bodies in the mogue. Why can't governments in Nigeria be real and straight for once!! |

“The tax is not meant to generate revenue but to discourage people from taking their dead ones to the mortuary all the time,”Can anyone help me explain what this means? Honestly I don't understand what this means |

This Enugu internal revenue services and stupidity must be siamens twins. The other day, through the ministry of environment, they imposed solar energy tax on those using solar to generate their own electricity. That agency needs total overhaul like the way mechanics overhaul diesel engines. Enugu that is looking for money had money to host that lady that won beauty pagent and appointed her as an ambassador under the State's government payroll. |

adenigga:“It is an indirect tax paid by mortuary owners, not deceased family and it is just N40, not N40,000. Since its introduction, nobody has been denied burying their dead ones. The tax is for the decreased family, not the mortuary owners. The deceased family pays the mortuary owner who then remits it to the govt. It's just like VAT being collected from customers by business owners and then remitted to the govt. In igboland we don't bury as soon as the person dies, there are families and people to be informed, there are issues to be discussed. Keeping the composed in the mortuary for 1-3 months is ideal for me, but Keeping it for 1 year and plus is a no no |

bassdow:Except in rare circumstances, there's absolutely no sense in keeping a corpse beyond 24hours. It'll only prolongs the grief of it's loved ones and further depletes their finances, while the dead keeps being subjected to undignified processes in order to keep it fresh. In the end nobody benefits, except maybe the mortuary outfits and the drunkards who turn burials into booze fests. If you see how cadavers are being treated in some mortuaries, I'm sure you'll create a will that they must bury you within hours after you're medically pronounced dead! |

A4alpha:It's only when issues arise in your enclave that you people will try to apply logic and common sense. The moment the same thing happens in other regions, you throw out the same logic and simply start to wail and cry as usual. The man is right for calling you out. If this had been in Lagos the amount of rubbish comments that would have emanated from the usual wailing crew by now will be astonishing already. Apply the same advice you gave him to yourself. You people need it more. |

Atuero:Ridiculous amount. It's either you tax or you don't tax. What is N40 a day?. 100 days, which is over 3 months is still just N4,000. However, i support the idea of burying dead people quickly in Igboland. We leave dead bodies the longest in the mortuary in Nigeria. That is not good. Igbos waste too much money on the dead. Need to stop that. |

This is very distasteful. What kind of accursed country are we living in? Even the dead has no rest. Haaa....The kind of leaders we have in this country are a special breed from hell. You don't provide any form of amenities to the people yet you tax them even in death Sick sick sick people. Its this same hopeless people that want to start taxing solar electricity users. Veery nonsense people. |

N 40 is small they should increase it, leaving dead bodies in the Morg for so long for exorbitant burial ceremonies should be discouraged, I come in peace. |
