Nigeria was restructured from 1967 to 1996 by northern military dictators such that one old Northern region now has overwhelming number of parliamentary seats in the National Assembly through the excess number of states created in the old Northern region. The old Northern region vehemently refuse any further political restructuring of Nigeria. In fact, people of the old Northern region ask southern people who ask for political restructuring, to come to the National Assembly for political restructuring, knowing full well that the National Assembly is overpopulated by legislators from the old Northern region who will vote down any attempt at political restructuring of Nigeria.

I don't think that is a treasonable offense because he never declare break up or declare independence. He never formed millitary arm. He never instigate hatred against anyone only fighting for his people freedom and he did this morning through formal approach by submitting a request and not a mandate or war mongering.
