Nigeria was restructured from 1967 to 1996 by northern military dictators such that one old Northern region now has overwhelming number of parliamentary seats in the National Assembly through the excess number of states created in the old Northern region. The old Northern region vehemently refuse any further political restructuring of Nigeria. In fact, people of the old Northern region ask southern people who ask for political restructuring, to come to the National Assembly for political restructuring, knowing full well that the National Assembly is overpopulated by legislators from the old Northern region who will vote down any attempt at political restructuring of Nigeria.

The lazy men are most of the people from the southern parts of Nigeria who don't understand that the new political structure of Nigeria of 20 new federating units in one northern region but only 17 new federating units for two southern regions is a huge fraud. Land mass or population figures is never used as yardstick to determine where or how many new federating units can be created anywhere in a federation originally founded for diverse regions.
There should have been more federating units (states and local government areas) in the two southern regions than in the old Northern region.
