LordAdam16:
What are the US and Nigerian prices of iPhone 16?

-Lord
An iPhone 16 cost far more in Nigeria. There was even a recent outrage on Twitter over the excess cost of new iPhones in Nigeria. Phone vendors responded by stating that excessive custom charges were partly to blame for the high cost of the iPhone 16.

Following the latest Call with U.S. President Joe Biden, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the Military and Defense Establishment to not carry out any further Strikes against Hezbollah Targets within the Lebanese Capital of Beirut.joe biden strikes again ,well don joe.

Hezbollah commanders and precision missiles are stacked in Beirut.
Senior Israeli official: The report on the supposed directive of the political echelon to the IDF to stop its strikes in Beirut is entirely false. Israel maintains freedom of action anywhere and everywhere in Lebanon.

Again you are answering your own question. So if I pay high import duty to bring in equipment in addition to its procurement cost, am I not going to include that in the cost my customer will pay?

Geometric Power Limited (GP) is a pioneer power project developer in Nigeria. It has established a power generation facility in Aba, Nigeria, with the intention of providing high quality electric service to a limited number of large industrial and commercial clients. Initially, the project consisted of the installation of a 141 MW gas-fired power plant in Phase 1, over 110km of 33 kV and 11kV sub-transmission lines, four new substations and capacitor banks for distribution of power to the large industrial and commercial consumers that had been receiving power from the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
This is lifted from geometric power Ltd website. That is a cost going into billions. Like dangote they have taken loans and have investors who expect returns. What do you propose they do? Charge n30/kwh?

Shock therapy economics, but little done to resolve banditry which has prevented farmers from farming as they should. Man promised reduction in importation charges on food items but nothing as of now.

The Customs charges high in dollars, increasing inflation rate further. A sound government should work on that policy.

Shock therapy economies that hasn't affected government officials one bit. No reduction in expenditure or frivolities.
Theories that have no correlation to real life realities. Nonsense.

NERC: FG Incurred N380bn Electricity Subsidy Bill in Q2 2024, Down By 40%

* Says DisCos generated N431bn revenue in Q2 2024, up by 47%

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has said the federal government incurred an electricity subsidy obligation of N380 billion in the second quarter (Q2) of 2024.

This is just as the agency said that distribution companies (DisCos) generated N431.16 billion between April and June of 2024.

NERC, in its quarterly report released at the weekend, said the electricity subsidy bill dropped by N253.24 billion (40 per cent) from N633.3 billion recorded in Q1.

The drop, according to the commission, was due to the upward review of tariffs for Band A customers in April.

“It is important to note that due to the absence of cost-reflective tariffs across all DisCos, the government incurred a subsidy obligation of N380.06 billion (52.51 per cent of total NBET invoice) in 2024/Q2 (average of N126.69 billion per month),” NERC said.

“Between 2024/Q1 and 2024/Q2, the subsidy obligation of the government reduced by – N253.24 billion, from N633.30 billion (90.57 per cent of total GenCo invoice) to N380.06 billion (52.51 per cent of total GenCo invoice).

“The significant decrease in the subsidy obligation of the FGN is a result of the policy directive of the government to implement reviews of tariffs charged to Band A customers while the tariffs for Band B-E customers remain frozen at the rates payable since December 2022,” said the report.
Yes the fg pays an energy subsidy and from the article it is clear where the Band A shenanigans are coming from. FG is reducing subsidy payment and if the discos stay within band b-e charges, they will go bankrupt proper. Most of these discos are already insolvent on paper.

There is an article to the effect that customs and other sister agencies will no longer receive direct payments. If this goes through it may affect the rates charged

I am trying to find the article but I can't at the moment

But the government is still the one that mandated customs right now.

You make it sound like CUSTOMS on their own is charging high and government is trying to correct something they put in place
