boringdraw:I am sorry, what? When did these international firms become international police and corruption monitors to monitor your own governments activities on your behalf? Why are you people so lazy-minded and f-ked up even in 2024? ![]() Ugh! Forget I even responded to your post at all... this your kind of reasoning they drain people. Jeeezze! ![]() |

You are joking bro. You are one of the people misleading and decieving our government. So Masses will be in this T - pain for the next 15 years while governors senators and president will be collecting millions every month and civil servants will be collecting 70k. So the pains is for the masses and you called this a reform. You are drunk before attending this meeting. Idiot. |

We have enough myopic people in Nigeria to make sure the reforms are truncated. We will then go back to square one and and start another decades of beating around the bush. |

DeepSight:IMF and World Bank NEVER suggested that your Government remove ALL subsidies. One of the reforms suggests that the government set up a safety net — a set of subsidy programs. So, where did you get your false information from? I suggest you first visit the details of the actual reforms suggested by the World Bank before you continue shooting off misinformation on this matter. ![]()

musicwriter:I repeat you didnt go to school. If you did just mention one country where these exact same set of idiotic policies have ever raised a third world country out of poverty. These policies are old, they stretch back to the 70s and 80s and they are specifically designed to rob and impoverish developing countries. If you dont know, just go and sit down. Olodo rabata. |
| Re: Nigeria Must Sustain 15 Years Of Reforms To Ensure Impact — World Bank by DeepSight(m): 9:11pm On Oct 14, 2024 |
Kobojunkie:This is BS. They suggested it over and over again aggressively, even saying that the removals so far are not enough. They want to kill Africans. Look, if you dont understand that this is all about getting your government to take loans and pay for them at dubious rates, you dont understand ANYTHING. |

DeepSight:This is total deregulation, not just trimming as SAP days. The economy has been freed now, if only something could be done to tame corruption. I don't expect many to understand this |

I don't know of any bank that genuinely wants the interest of their clients. World Bank is no different! |

AreaFada2:What the f-k has any of this to do with this topic for Pete's sake? ![]() 2. Here's a very simple question for you. Did IBB implement SAP as given to him by the IMF/World Bank or did IBB — being the corrupt individual he is still known to be— instead take to blaming IMF and SAP for his incompetence in office? Take a look at the list of reforms suggested back during the time IBB was in office and point out the reforms on that list that were in fact implemented by IBB. ![]()

Reforms without a grand vision of industrialisation? Remember as someone said: - SAP will lead to economic boom later - deregulation of the downstream sector of oil will lead to restart of our refineries - globalization of domestic markets will lead to inter-national trade - Portharcourt refinery will be on stream by September 2024 - Dangote refinery will cause fuel to go back to less than ₦200. If you have brain, you can see that our parent's generation, and our own have been massively brainwashed. |

Bobloco:leave the useless organization alone to continue misleading the irresponsible government that has nothing to offer, economy reform that has not yield any positive results, all our small denomination currency are no where to be found and they hard had any effect on the economy |

musicwriter:Lol. You will be boiled to death gradually like a frog in hot water and you will never understand what is happening. EVERY economy that has needed to grow has had to have an injection of funds, not a draining of funds. This happened in Europe after the 2nd World War. This happened in the USA during the great depression. NOT one single one of these places EVER resorted to punishing the poor, taxing them more or removing subsidies. They ONLY recommend these suicidal steps for third world countries. If anything, they made more assistance available to the poor consistently. This, of course is nothing but SAP 2.0 and it will do the same thing SAP did - wreck the economy. And they know it. Also NO import dependent economy should devalue its currency. That is economic suicide. If you dont understand that devaluation favors the west because they buy everything you have cheaper, you dont understand anything. Wake up. |

Kobojunkie:Sir, IBB implemented ALL THESE IMF reforms ( deforms!). I wish I had strength to write down examples, but NAIRALAND is not worth it. Will rather spend my strength on X or other Socialmedia site; not this abandoned site. |

DeepSight:Suggested what? To Whom? Where is the record of these suggestions let's review them. Your Government refused to implement a Safety Net, has not even implemented Subsidy Removal...etc, yet you think IMF and World Bank are to be blamed for your government's incompetence? ![]() 2. Dubious rates? Are said loans being shoved down the throat of your government or something? ![]() |

The World Bank is just a lending institution. The federal government should not regard the World Bank as an expert on Nigeria's economic affairs. |
| Re: Nigeria Must Sustain 15 Years Of Reforms To Ensure Impact — World Bank by DeepSight(m): 9:23pm On Oct 14, 2024 |
Kobojunkie:1. Yes, loans are indeed being shoved down our throats if you dont know. 2. What fxxxxking safety net are you talking about? Rice? You must be a joker. 3. Subsidy removal was said to be implemented - but once they immediately floated the naira of course the price of imported PMS races up instantly. 4. You dont understand that we agree our govt is corrupt and incompetent, but you cant see the bigger corruption of the WB and IMF. 5. You dont understand why the Fed can command money into existence by sheer word of mouth, but everyone else must be tied to that imagined dollar. You know nothing of economics. Dont worry, BRICS is coming. |

DeepSight:So, why are there no subsidy in European countries and America? When you undertake this type of reform, there would be suffering initially but things would turn around, as I predicted within 20-40 years. The only reason anyone should object this should be corruption |

These removal of fuel subsidy and REDUCTION of forex subsidy are small SUPERFICIAL steps. Making Nigeria a productive and prosperous nation will require more FOUNDATIONAL changes of the kind I've listed in past comments. The solution is simply F R E E D OM. A country where PEOPLE don't own land can't be prosperous. A country where government REGULATES prices for everything can NEVER be productive. A diverse country should allow its different peoples a high degree of AUTONOMY. There should be NO GOVERNMENT OWNED corporations or commercial concerns of any kind or structure. These are simple moral imperatives. Good Luck to Nigeria |
