The value of money is what money can buy . Can you kindly tell us what that your lucrative salary can buy given the present economic situation in Nigeria? Also tell us how many kids and dependant you have?

Even the blind knows that our country is not healthy...your salary cannot save you ...except you get lots of kick backs you cannot survive here with your salary. Just yesterday ...I spent 50k on prepaid units that will last 2weeks ......this is just for 2wrrks electricity...I have never talked about fueling my car ...feeding is no go area . Let's stop pretending all is well . Anyone with the opportunity shoukd leave for a better opportunity for your kids ...The health implication of staying in thus country is enough reason to japa. I have heard alot about replacement opportunity in govt establishment...they use quota system or federal character to recruit people ...if people from South are resigning...they should do the needful by replacing them with people from South to nslance the equation...this shouldn't be a thing a serous minded person should bother his head on . Most of you didn't get those job by merit.. you got it cos you know people in high places ...

At least I can buy new car every year FROM 2015 to 2022 model if that is my goal.

These people you mentioned has the tendency already to become whatever they became abroad even before they left Naigeeria. The UK or US didn't turn them gay or drug addicts.

When they carry another person corpes it will look like log of wood in your eyes but when that person is your love one, you will understand the pain. The two examples can be you or anyone else.

Your observation is right. Southerners love to Japa. But in the north, it is not their thing to do so.

I was working in a teaching hospital for close to 11 years, before I Japa. My pension I accumulated in those 11 years was about 4.5million.
To tell you how corrupt our system is I am still receiving SMS messages from my pension manager despite resigning almost 3 years ago. The pension is now about 7 million naira.

This 7 million naira is the amount I make now in 2 months and sometimes even more.

So tell me, why won't I Japa knowing I am securing the future of my kids.

This securing the future of kids is relatives and too broad to discuss.
Who secured your future and in which country?
What makes you think that your children future will be secured more than their peers in Nigeria? You don't have answer to this question.

We were 100 that was employed in 2013 drawing from South and North.
We have been promoted 3 times and expecting another promotion.

But something is disturbing me as a Southerner from South East.
About 25 persons from my set have resigned and relocated abroad. Only 2 are still in Nigeria.

It is more shocking that this 25 persons are all from the South. Either South West or South East or South South.

My fear is the implications when our set will get to the pick.
No northerner had resigned or thinking of resigning as at today.

The future implications is that they will occupy majority of the apex positions in this parastatal and the south will start shouting marginalization and why all top directors are from the north.

The last meeting I had at the NNPCL Head quarter's Abuja saw 99% of Top Management Staff from the north.

During The introduction of members I was shaking my head. This bring me to ask, could this issue I am experiencing in my own organization be the same in NNPCL?

Currently a Lady I know in NNPCL resigned and moved to Canada. You already know the future implications to the South when her set will get to the top.

Why are Southerners relocating and leaving their beautiful jobs why the northerners are comfortably enjoying the same work.

Is this greed on the south or that our problems are too much?

I taunt my friend from sokoto some days ago why he doesn't want to japa, he laughed and answered me, to do what over there?

Southerners av high expectations. From my area, at the age of 14, young boys are already dreaming big and driving fancy cars. In the North, it not like that. Northerners are contempted with what they av. Even if it 100 Naira daily, they will not complain. They just want to eat, work and sleep. The ones that gets to NNPCL still av a fracture of that spirit embedded in their dna....


If a southerners gathers 100million Naira. He will come to Nairaland front page and ask "Which country can I relocate to and have peace of mind ?"

Where i work every morning it is a must to test fire alerm.Every week they check the lifter.
Fire exit/emergency will and must be indicated.

Then on the road, u hardly see drivera driving anyhow to cause accidents.
U dont see guns.. Even with police.


U won't know what insecurity is as u are used to it in Nigeria
