26 million means you r stuck

You can't use that money for something tangible in Nigeria

And that money when changed to hard currency cannot be used to jaapa properly

Damn undecided
Just say you wouldn't know what to do with it.

Where will 21m get your family to outside? Processing visa and flight tickets alone don nearly chop that money. Cash them go use sustain themselves for minimum of 6 months nko? Abi you want make them de homeless abroad?
Even you too, what will 5m do? It is money no doubt but with what apc +, t pain has done to the naira, 5m wount take you far, heck a 2003 corola is over 8m.
Me sponsoring her with 21m will ginger her family to raise other extra money, I've already tried my best with my 21m.
As for me I will be fine with my 5million, I'm not even thinking of buying any car with it but with just extra efforts my 5million will yield funds for a Cadillac.
Like I said...it is my own little secret and 5million is more than enough to set the ball on motion, with 2million self i will be too good to go.

If your said friend go alone it will be better and easier

He’s family can come visit and go back naija when he settle down cause family is an expensive business abroad and might take time for him to find he’s balance

Here’s my top 6 countries to japa to and make it on time in no time and you can do these your self with the help of the internet

Australia
Canada
Switzerland
Norway
US
And new Zealand

If you japa to these countries in no time you will make that 26million in a year or less
Depend on your spending habit and the type of visa you’re using to japa with

Japa , Settle and send money back to invest massively and have a retirement plan
if not the Nigeria economy of today will make that money waste and he might not see an opportunity to have that kind of funds in he’s life time again

what will you use 5m to build for yourself?
I have a huge dream and 5million is more than enough to set a foundation for the dream becoming a reality. It wouldn't be easy for sure but I have never been the type to pray for easy living, I only pray for the strength to survive the stormy weather.

You'll send your family abroad senseless mentality...
The many mistakes most of you usually make and end up regretting for life.
Send them so that the society abroad will help you train them... So they can become "woke", lacking manners... Becoming homos etc...
Then your wife will start shenging different men and will still blame you for not being around to satisfy her...
In the end, everyone grows up and face their life while you grow old a lonely man...
Lol...thanks for the care though but I wouldn't stop anyone from choosing the life they want to lead.
I have a better chance of fulfilling my long term dream when I'm lonely, family seems my only obstacle. Once they are far away on their own then my own dream becomes a flesh. I give no damn about my woman doing whatever she likes, my kids should rather be my worry and I'll worry about them as much as I can.

Great teaching
idahme:
This is good only when the exchange rates are stable for the period of one year but if they aren't that's a big loss in the purchasing power. I thought about this last year by converting USD to naira and then buying treasury bills then on a second note I did the calculations assuming the dollar to naira rate increases what then happens to my investment that scenario made me to hold my break.

Between that time and this month Naira has lost over 70% of its value meaning my USD has gained over 70% in naira equivalence but I would have only gained 15 to 20 % in treasury bills investment while loosing (70-20)% in the value of my money if left in USD.

Treasury bills is only great when exchange rates is constant and inflation is single digits. For a volatile economy like Nigeria I won't try it at present.

Lol funny, u will do all this with just 26m ba? Why will u spend 21m sending ur family when u can invest the money here or u travel alone. I am wondering the kind of idea u want to build with 5m in this present nigeria.
Less than 5m would set a good foundation for my idea, I will nurture it to maturity and all it'll take is patience. Forget about the economy, my idea would always blossom when the economy looks like what we currently have.

You are upending the discourse.
One, when we say "abroad", it does not have to be the US alone.
Your post that I responded to was specifically about USA. Hence my comment

Two, you have not shown with proof how many Nigerian family (husband plus wife) makes over 150k USD per annum. The data you referenced is relevant to a 3-member household - a father, a mum and a child. You need to consider that too.
This is readily available information. Also I cannot use myself or my friends or my family as example because to you that’s going to be anecdotal. The same way Ibe’s example is also anecdotal to you. You have to use public information and that’s readily available.

In IT, if you are skilled, a single individual actually makes over 120 USD per annum but how many people fall into that class.
Not only IT. In business and healthcare and govt jobs. Each person making $60k is already a family of $120k a year. That’s literally less than the norm for professionals.
Yes there are professionals making money. I am not arguing that but holistically speaking how many people make it?
most immigrants families make it.

. I am only saying, evaluate your current situation carefully and make an INFORMED decision. How does that translate to discouraging people?

If you accuse me of discouraging others, I will accuse you of over exaggeration.
I agree. No one should make poorly planned moves especially across the continent. It’s not for everyone and one’s situation should be the determining factor. I’m not team japa by all means or anti japa.

I don’t over exaggerate. If anything I’ll understate the figure so I don’t create high expectations. But you tend to be overly negative hence my comment about discouraging people.

And you think ICT guru would be struggling in society that AI oversaturated?
How would AI work without ICT? you people will not stop amazing in nairaland.

I said earlier maybe, ur own ICT expertise is for village people.

Below is screenshot MetaAI gives me when I enquired.

You people know nothing here, than to be arguing and critical of every opinion they posted.

Ur argument will definitely tell people how intelligent you are.

I'm very sure you will still continuing arguing blindly o, BYE.
From the AI prompt you gave, it is obvious you are not a developer or a tech professional. I am not surprised anyway.
Generative AI is already here, and it keeps evolving by itself needing less human help, just more processing power. I am a full-stack dev, and I am telling you AI can build any frontend mobile or web app easily and with way less time. The backend will still need user integration but more than 60% of it can be done with AI. Cybersecurity is the way out and even that is saturated here.
last year alone, the number of people laid off in Tech was more than the previous 2 years combined and it is increasing this year.
I stay in Canada and I am telling you how it is, regardless of how good you think you are, your soft skills are more important than any technical skill, to even get an interview you require a good reference.
You can talk about other countries but ask anyone in Canada, they will confirm what I just said.

put 20m on treasury bills at 15percnt and feed the family on the upfront interest for one year. use that 6m to start a business for one year. your head go don clear after one year weda you wan move or not. please if you dont have a definite plan on what you want to do abroad, don't make that move.. its capital intensive especially for a family of three.

japa syndrome will pass some day, one thing damaging this country is creed no one is content. 26m is small but enough to set anyone up if well used
26m will get one a truck ,good truck . Register it with a company or companies . Learn to drive the truck urself and you will be making like 600k every month . You will be ur own boss , be able to reinvest profit in other things and in 10years time you will be at a high level .
Throw that 26m into Japa, one will get there and start from ground zero , for one to stabilise it will take like one year or even more , then one will then start working to raise that 26m . We don't know the value of what we have till we lose it . Many of those abroad will tell you that they will relocate back hi oke once they can cause enough money . The same amount of funds many Nigerians are raising to Japan is the same or even less amount that Indians and Chinese are bringing into Naija and they become bosses

That 26million will soon be exhausted if he stay in Nigeria, he’s better off japa with that money honestly

Intelligent. I love your write-up though (sincerely).
But i know you are trying to mask-up some truths.
Anyways, have a nice afternoon.
MT:
You are correct on good/working environment.

The same "social amenities" you came online to cry over; same things that you say make you live below poverty line due to how much you pay for bills.

Are there not people living in darkness due to the fact that they cannot afford electricity bills? Are there no more homeless in your "paradise" ? Are there not poor people who live on handouts ? Are there not unemployment?

I will expect your new "paradise" will be absolutely perfect.

And let me let you know, I enjoy the two worlds. The foreign passports that you are chasing, I have 2 in different western countries; these are countries you will kill for to obtain just 1.

That wont stop me from telling others the reality. Abroad is a step up for some and step down for some. Evaluate and choose carefully is all I preach here.

So, Rich boy, what have you accomplished in all your waka waka across the world? grin grin grin And are you saying all western countries are safer than Nigeria, US especially comes to mind.
Re: If Given 26 Million Naira; Stay Or Japa by Love800(m): 3:43pm On Oct 15, 2024
No problem.

Nice chatting with you. I partially agreed with you. Have a blessed evening ahead.
MT:
Your "work hard" is mostly slaving.

A second hand citizen in a foreign land.

Whatever you enjoy over there, I provide for myself in Nigeria at a relatively cheaper cost.

And I am still relevant over there.

Stop talking down your own country, it is a form of insanity.

I do not really understand how to put it to you again.

In all my post, i emphasised there are Nigerians making it, and there are some who do not make it. I consistently maintained that your individual's circumstance will determine your journey.

Unfortunately, once people do not see it your way, you start giving them names. What do you mean by saying I am "overly negative"? Every statistics your poured out was based on your assumptions and not hard facts. You seem educated and I would expect that you would know how to back up your claims with empirical facts.

You were tossing figures likes beancake - 60KUSD, 120K USD as if that is what almost every one earns. Yes, Nigerians are among those migrants who are very educated in the US but knowing how that translates to earning for the family is quite complex and there is no data that will give you conclusion on that. I was surprised when you typed that it was a mater of public information. Pull it off, let's see your source for reference.

You are assuming. You are over promising. Let everyone make their own determination without you sweet talking them. Afterall, if things go south, you wont be there to lend them a hand.

Thank God I live abroad and in Nigeria, you would have told me dollars are grown on the tree.
