AmalaAtiEwedu:Imported fuel made Dangote who he is. It powered all his factories and all his trucks till he became Africa's richest man. To turn around and call it low-quality shows he's not sincere. |

Appletek:I agree .... but don't be complaining about its quality .... you will get what you pay for ... contaminated fuel. Simply the process ... allow who want to import to do so ... but put a steep tax on all fuel imports .... after all ... we need to protect our local industries....just like other countries. |

Originalsly:Now one will tax fuel imports. Dangote had fuel import licenses and no one taxed him. Or, you don't know that Dangote has tank farms? Are you aware that Dangote got import licenses under OBJ which enabled him to import items and not pay tax? Imports aren't bad, all countries import. If Dangote can't reduce just pricing, he should return the Forex he was given to build his refinery and go sell his fuel elsewhere. |

Omalicious1:As we have a private refinery. Is there any benefits for the masses. Dangote will continue to increase the price for being a business man. Let there be competition. But I have concerns on how government appearing inconsistent on goal setting. |

Sell those failed refineries to investors that will give Dangote a run for his money... Since he can't consider local prices for local usage... |

Dangote is a business man, that doesn't wish Nigeria any good. His own is to make sure everything is expensive in Nigeria, price of everything he produces has gone very high. Wicked man |

Most of you people dont even know anything yet. Tinubu spent billions to help finance buhari two elections. It was the reason he keep saying it’s turn. During that last election he spent billions and hoping to recoup all that that money. But when he came and saw there is no money which he thought there was. He is not pushing everything on the common man and the economy in general. Where do you all think he will get the money to finance the next election? He is now trying to recouped all the money spent and also more to finance the next election. Because without all this policy there is no money to loot. The buhari loans were just too much even the last election we couldn’t finance it without foreign aids. |

Once they start granting licenses for individuals to import petrol, Dangote would want to sabotage it and will play the local jobs card for his refinery |
| Re: FG Unveils New Regulations For Petrol Import Licences, Revokes DPR Guidelines by Originalsly: 9:58pm On Oct 15, 2024 |
Appletek:I hear you. When Dangote was importing fuel tax free .... which local business was he affecting? Fuel had to be imported. Now we have a local refinery ... it doesn't matter who owns it .... there must be protection from foreign imports which can flood the market and put the local refinery out of business. Then what? Thousandsss of local jobs tied to the refinery will be lost... foreign reserves will be drained ... Naira will continue to depreciate .... the importers will bring in substandard fuel and sell at top grade price ... what then will be your cry? Is it not this same road we took that brought us here? .... shut down our refineries and import fuel? We have to protect our own local industries. Same with cars ... Innoson started up ... the FG at the time allowed 'foreign investors" to come and set up assembly plants to compete with Innoson. Foreign companies come and are given tax breaks and other advantages that are not given to locals .... but we are quiet...it is ok. I don't know why this our behaviors reminds me of crabs in a bucket. |

Analysis of the New Petroleum Regulations in Nigeria Key Points: * Consolidation: The new regulations aim to simplify the process of obtaining petrol import licenses and other operational permits by combining multiple regulations into a single document. * Efficiency: This consolidation is expected to reduce the complexity and time required for businesses to navigate the regulatory landscape. * Clarity: The single document will provide a more comprehensive and easily understandable overview of the regulations. * Stakeholder Involvement: The government is committed to transparency and has sought input from stakeholders before finalizing the regulations. Potential Benefits: * Improved Ease of Doing Business: The streamlined process could attract more investment in Nigeria's petroleum sector. * Increased Efficiency: Reduced bureaucratic hurdles could lead to more efficient operations for businesses. * Enhanced Compliance: A clearer regulatory framework may improve compliance and reduce the risk of penalties. * Boost to the Economy: A more conducive business environment could contribute to economic growth. Potential Challenges: * Implementation: Ensuring that the new regulations are effectively implemented and enforced will be crucial. * Adaptability: The regulations may need to be updated in the future to address evolving industry trends and challenges. * Public Awareness: Raising awareness about the new regulations among businesses and the public will be important. Overall, the new regulations represent a positive step towards improving the regulatory environment for the Nigerian petroleum industry. By simplifying the process of obtaining licenses and permits, the government is aiming to create a more conducive environment for businesses to operate and invest. However, the success of these reforms will depend on effective implementation and ongoing monitoring. Written by Mr Ibrahim Aliyu Oil, Gas and Energy Management Expert Abuja Mr. Ibrahim Aliyu would likely appreciate the focus on streamlining the regulatory process and the government's commitment to stakeholder engagement. He might also be interested in discussing the potential economic benefits of these reforms and the challenges that may arise during implementation.
