Now this is a positive testimony.

Could u please help confirm if ur gen was quite old when u did the conversion or not so old . This will help test GloriousG’s theory that perhaps it’s very old generators that may have issues with LPG conversion .
Not so old, it's a senci and was about 4 months when disaster struck in February 2023 and about 7 months when that disaster became a calamity in May, 2023. I converted it around July if I'm not mistaken so it was 9 months old at conversion time

I heard it is highly risky to use LPG cylinders for CNG.

Na true?
Yes CNG is a different gas
It cylinder is like those fire extinguisher containers
I don't think CNG will survive in naija, how many people fit afford the cylinder to start with
Make them no go carry LPG cylinder manage, the effect will be dangerous

Aso Rock wants to tax individuals who earn N100 million or more per month, a 25% tax rate. In fact, the bill is before the National Assembly…

Would a 25% tax rate on the wealthy raise a significant amount of money to (at least partially) run the federal government?🤔

So people earning 100m will part with 25m in taxes?

imho these guys are just farming content

i have run lpg on and off since 2015

i am running my gen off lpg right now

for me it comes down to cost and convenience

it was not cost effective before this latest deregulation. [as naija matter lpg was 6k and is now 12k] however when there is queue, you can buy lpg faster [peoples blood dey hot hot hot so i no dey invoke priviledge as before. also too much cloak and dagger with jerry cans a month ago.

all i will say is it is best f you have a new generator

a generator costs like 300k to 500k - a solar installation is upwards of 5m.

so i take these stories of i replaced my petrol gen with solar with a handful of salt
That's egunm.ogaji on nairaland. You frequent the property section so you know there's no way he's farming content.

Besides, didn't you just say the engine of your gen got bad? How do we know using LPG didn't contribute.

Sometimes u have a contingency plan and it almost fails .

I once had an online job interview which nearly went south due to NEPA wahala . I took the day-off from work that day and decided I will take the interview in my parlor .

I was very sure we would have light throughout the duration of the interview because we usually have light from around 6am till maybe 3pm. Notwithstanding, I still arranged fuel inside gen in case of any yawa.

I had already knotted my tie on my sparkling white shirt . I was seated in front of my laptop giving myself the die minute mental boost 10 minutes to the interview ; na so NEPA strike .

I quickly rushed down stairs to fire the generator , the moment I got back upstairs the gen just tripped off. I went back downstairs fired the gen again and within 2 minutes it was off. I wan craze .

I was literally speaking to my generator like an animate object “ iwo gen yi o de Jo now “ ( This gen abeg na ) 😁

Somehow the gen heard me and just started working properly . By the time I got back upstairs to settle down , the interview time had already gone by 15 minutes . I was lucky the interviewers had more than one candidate to attend to. So they had already started with another candidate while I waited in the lobby . Eventually I did well at the interview but everything could’ve gone south when agent NEPA struck .
My village people succeeded with this trick for one particular interview

That got me prepared as fück for the next interview. I make sure say i sub MTN, Airtel, Glo and Starlink with my two phones and my babe own.

I setup portable inverter with big and small gen on standby (just incase werey wan move mad).

For the noisy compound kids, i got a contingency plan for the little muthafuckas too. Sound proofed my windows and doors ahead of time. Added a rechargeable fan to backup the AC in case of failure and added noise cancelling sound setup (you must hear me loud and clear)

I no wan hear say Nepa use dem uselessness spoil once in a lifetime opportunity

My generators were 4 years old. My normal policy is to replace every two years or when cumulative cost of repairs has passed the cost of procurement. By then they are more wahala than they are worth.

I changed their carburators last year when they were already in a bad state.

It's not so much age as it is Naija artisans - who can always be counted on to fk anything they put their hands on. Fix one problem and create three more.

Didn't realize that was EgunMogaji-2. My bad.

What a shame!

Ideally, Nigeria should be generating 100,000 - 120,000 megawatts if we are serious about becoming a true economic power and consequently lifting millions of out people out of poverty

Just did some rough calculations and I found that the FG would generate a max of 400 billion Naira annually from the 25% tax proposal…which wouldn’t make a significant dent on the federal budget deficit

You must be using the generator a whole lot. Been using mine for 6 years and only thing I've done is change the rope and service the carburettor. Still works as it worked on day one.

Surviving in Nigeria is crazy mehn.
Surviving in Nigeria is a life-long lesson in fault tolerance, resiliency and failover modes. Every Nigerian has received these system engineering lessons from the school of Nepa, Water Board and other sundry bodies.

In July, Stromnetz had an issue that caused light in my Strasse (Street) to trip off for around 15 mins and then i realised that western countries have zero failure mode preparation. With the power gone, the whole street were unable to browse, cook, bath and were instantly plunged back into the 16th century. Will never forget the look of horror on the faces of the neighbours grin

Omo, Nigerians have evolved to be fault-tolerant. Sometimes i wonder if that quality is a beneficial one to possess

Na you wan wound yourself.

You get interview wey depend on electricity for Naija and you dey depend on NEPA/PHCN?

Me, i dey very paranoid about things like that. I go don put on the gen at least 15 mins before the interview and relax to use it. One kind of story that i hate most in my life is stories that touch.

Not just happening in the abroad. Very happening. Here the government will collect about 44.5%, so roughly the same.

That na why many people dey set up Discretionary Trading Trusts, Proprietary Companies and the rest. If not, government will siphon all your funds.

It’s because our light has a very constant time table . Out of 100days , u can accurately predict 90 days we will have light and u will be right. Funny thing is the light was restored before I finished the interview sef but I had to finish with the gen before changing over .

Since that day tho, I don’t take chances anymore
