Uchemus:He also gave a dumb example of how relocating abroad would turn Naigeerians gay, lesbians, drug addicts and trans. if they relocate to Canada, UK and America. What a complete morron!I explained to him that he would also find thousands of cloest gays, lesbians, trans and drug addicts in Naigeeria |

PEACE2023:The problem with some of you is that you believe that every Nigerian that leave Nigeria do so because of money. Let me tell you why I left Nigeria; I hated thw corruption, I hated the fact that we spend billions on our politicians while we lack basic amenities. I hated the fact that traveling can make you cough out millions to pay to kidnappers. I hated the fact that nepotism is the order of the day; if you are not from a certain region, you can't get jobs, even federal jobs in that region. See, travel to a good western country. You will realise that Nigeria is hell. Money is not everything. People sometimes just wants to go to saner climes where things are done properly. |

Uchemus:My first shock was seeing that the things we take for luxury in Nigeria are actually not. You buy a car the whole neighborhood celebrate when a sophomore in the US drives a better car. What of iPhones, smart TV, air conditioned house. Gosh! You will have to be working in the so called top FG jobs to have access to these things. Nigeria which way. I pray things get better. There is big gap between a 3rd world country and a developed nation truly. |

This is one very illogical argument I hear all the time and I have to comment because I live in America and have seen people fall into this trap for lack of knowledge. If your salary in N1,000,000, you can afford to conveniently live in a N500,000 rented apartment annually and pay from 1 months salary. The factory worker you referred to cannot get a 1 bedroom apartment to rent for less than $800 monthly and so there is virtually nothing left after working for an entire month. There is no factory worker or (even any average worker) that can pay his annual rent from 1 month salary. So as far as living conditions is concerned, the FG worker with N1,000,000 is living in the dreams of the factory worker earning <$1000, who will most likely need to share an apartment with a friend. I am not saying migrating is a bad idea, however stop cherry-picking where to convert from $ to N. I see people migrate with their family because they were told you can conveniently make $2000 (3 million) monthly through Uber but no one told them they will also pay over N2,000,000 for rent monthly 😀 If you are going to respond, please stay within the nexus of my argument and don’t extrapolate to anything I did not say. Thanks docdes: |

PEACE2023:Naaah. Corruption is not everywhere. If the corruption that is in Nigeria exists in these western countries, they would have since collapsed. When a former UK prime minister said if the money that has been stolen from Nigeria was stolen from the UK, the UK would have collapsed, you thought he was joking? You are talking about Hunter Biden. Corruption perception of a country is not about politicians alone. How do Nigerians see the Nigeria police and judiciary? Is the average Nigeiran not corrupt? If corruption exists everywhere, there wouldn't be no need to be ranking countries on a corruption index. Or you want tell me say Sweden and Nigeria have the same level of corruption? |

eaglebeliever:Good argument. I tell people not to convert. You don’t spend dollars in Nigeria, neither does anyone spend naira in the US, so don’t convert. |

PEACE2023:Very easy argument to make. We need to improve our country. We’ve normalized “anyhowness”. If the developed nations cease to exist today, do you think Nigeria will change? |

Kongaone:my dear you made a real valid point Japa is very real and the brain drain keeps extending. Even the state civil service is not left out. Reason why there are many ghost workers and impersonators at that level. But can we really blame them? What's the point working in a service where the salary cannot take care of your basic needs? |

4gunners:Yes Nigeria will change. Who habours this looters from Nigeria? Which bank do this looters keep their money? Was it not UK, Canada, USA etc that allowed an individual politician have 3 billion dollars in his foreign account? This same USA is prosecuting a Nigerian business man who brought Air tickets price down between KLM, Air France etc were milking Nigerians dry in London Root. These same criminals did not prosecute our greedy politicians who dump Nigerian money in their country. These develop countries are Nigeria problems. |

Hogwarthtrades:Again I understand your sentiment. However, your experience should not distort the fact, no matter how emotionally attached you are to the people in the northern region. The simple fact is that the region is the poverty and illiterate capital. There no disproving that, and there are historic data to back that up. |

PEACE2023:Sorry dear. It appears we are miles apart in our world view. I don't subscribe to such warped thinking. If I were to be in my early 50's, to be honest with you, I will seriously contemplate japa. I know a particular organization where the people of the South does the doing while the privileged region does the getting of the pecks of office. So it becomes a case of monkey de work baboon de chop. So I ask you, is that fair? Hewers of wood and drawers of water is not cool. It is slavery. Besides, opportunities for growth and development in ones chosen career is much more outside than here where infrastructure is atrociously insufficient. Can you look at the schools over here and honestly say that what we have here is good enough for a thorough academic to excel? The universities that produce the core of administrators are lacking in funding in all the departments. One can't do proper research work here in any discipline. Will you want an academic remain here an end up a mediocre when there are several collages out there looking for such a person. Professor Ilooba or so of UNN ended up working at immigration service and briefly headed the agency before he was replaced. How about that? Was the pay and facilities top notch that he should leave an academic environment and take up job in the immigration service a professor? Its absurd to say the least. So my dear, sincerely speaking, it is a choice imposed on those leaving by the system. |

PEACE2023:This is the CORRUPTION that most people agree is holding Nigeria back. This one is NEPOTISM. And you're correct, this kind of thing is widespread in Nigeria. Government jobs produce NOTHING and that's the truth in EVERY COUNTRY in the world. Look at NNPC, blessed with everything needed and yet it can't operate ordinary refinery. People are there collecting huge salary for doing nothing. Private sector is where people are producing wealth through innovation and hard work. Keep enjoying 😉, let others make their own choices. Good Luck to Nigeria |
