Bigger yams, my mom bought this for #7,000 a bit costly, though bigger than the previous one In the first picture
Yams have always been cheaper there truly. Also very nice and good for pounded yam.

I don't even think in Buhari time you can buy such for that price. I go all the way to Nassarawa state from Abuja to look for good bargains even Niger state . Guy I hope say you are being honest. Well, go next week and try it and come back here with update.
I don't need to go anywhere next week to confirm anything and them come back for update, this is my home town, my base, my childhood memories and where I live everyday since I was born... I'm ain't new here! Whatever you see write here is fact with no sugar coating, I don't know about your region but I can vouch for my own...

Maybe that's the meaning of the word in your language, but once that word is mentioned here, what comes to mind immediately is an evil and wicked killer terrorists.
But the last time I checked, the word "Aboki" is a word that orginated from the Hausa language. So any literal definition attached to that other than what the owners of the Language defined it meaning to be may just be a derogatory term just to have superiority complex. But regardless, but the exposed, in exposed, educated, illiterate and the superior and inferior will all die

OP you say 5k for all these yams? (In the first slide)

Na the same country we dey like this?
Middle men are part of our problem. They blame it on transportation cost. So the price of this 5k yam becomes 20k or more in another part of the country.

Only effective rail transport system can reduce transportation cost.

I'm not surprised....

Hunger is in Nigeria because majority of the working population are lazy and want white colar jobs...

Even person wen study agricultural science for school go deh complain say hunger deh....

Alot of people prefer to stay on social media from morning till night looking for Facebook and TikTok money... There are a very few people left to farm and insecurity is not helping them at all.....

So the situation now is that, alot of people now depend on the small amount of food the few farmers produce

Yes sir.... Very much the same country, southerners might use transportation cost as an excuse but still yet greed is still there
So why are the northerners complaining of hardship and high cost of feeding?
Re: See #5,000 Yam In My Location Niger State! by RosyIsBlessed: 10:45pm On Oct 15, 2024
Finding it hard to believe. This is Nigeria in the 90s when yam of 5k is plenty

I know minna very well. A peaceful town with fertile land. It's unfortunate that terrorists have invaded gwariland where like gwada where food is grown in abundance. Good to see trailers are coming to yams in trucks to be taken to the south, especially lagos. Yams and dry fish are so cheap in all along from suleija to minna. I always buy and go and go do give-away in abuja.
Concerning cost in the south, it is not greed. The roads are very bad and the cost of fuel is now very high. And there's insecurity. For example, that truckload of yam will pass through hell to go from niger to SE or SS. And in about 20 or more checkpoints, they will encounter all manners of checkpoints that will extort them, from police to agbero to those guys claiming they are checking agricultural produce.
Business is meant to generate profit. When the traders finally get home, they calculate all their expenses and then add their profits, which is what makes the cost higher in the south.

The bags packed on the ground beside the trailer truck is a sack containing shear butter seeds extracted from the Shear butter fruits from the Shear butter trees here. This bags are being shipped to other regions of the country for processing as raw materials to be converted to other finished goods and commodities ( I heard it's used for producing oils) I don't know the type though, maybe turkey oil or controller oil as it's commonly called here or something else.

I needed to upload more images but it's not longer responding.

Maize is here, groundnut is here, millet is here, guinea corn is here, yam Is here, white beans and soybeans will soon be out too by November and early December!

Everyone deserves right to eat and be alive! Food should be very much available and affordable regardless of what excuse for everybody!

I'm on the firm believe that what is the basis of survival such as food should not be an object of debate.
Please, where is this place? I'm a female and also currently without a job. I'll like to be involved in this. Maybe buy and sell to others who might need it. Thanks.

Anyone interested in getting food stuffs at cheaper rates from Niger state should indicate. I might compile the list/orders and send all the food stuff at once, depending on the location it's going.

You're a star, bro, tell us more. Here in Lagos, people have been discussing on the way forward on food scarcity and how man could survive. A medium tuber of yam in Lagos at ile epo okeodo cost #1800.A standard one could be sold for 3500 to 4000

When some folks in the north post images of things and their prices, I see a lot people arguing that it's a lie and can't be possible. Well, I think the southern greedy traders have conditioned the brain of many people over there to always believe that it must be expensive and no any other way else, it's pathetic to see some other people crying for food which is supposed to be the basis of our existence and affordable to even the poorest amongst us, while some other people in the other places have this same food in abundance. Not always about the government being the issue but also the traders and the marketers too! Over here in my region, philanthropy, help of mankind and sympathy towards fellow humans is the other here. If not for the terrorism and killings going on here, cost of living and raising children with the best of life affordable things even to the poor are a bit easy here, ranging from housing to feeding to transportation and other basic necessities of life.
Terrorism was the making of the north. You guys used it to play politics till it became a monster. Otherwise, tell me why farming shouldn't make lots of you guys over there very rich. But una use terrorism to destroy such a wonderful dream.
So sad bro. So sad.
🙁🙁
