shear ignorance! Drop off this mentality really fast! Kidnapping is not exempted from the South!
Daft, is there any demand by extremists to the Farmers before planting like what you have in northern states?

Right! Transportation cost has always been the 'fall guy'

It really do masks the greed of these traders.
Not just transportation. Multiple taxations including rogue officers, area boys and prolonged road stay due to very bad roads all add to the transportation cost.
Even when the goods get to the markets down south, another round of multiple taxations and random settlements come to play, added to exhorbitant store rent

Who noticed that the OP evaded the question "where in Niger State"?. If you ask somebody a simple question and the person couldn't respond with a simple answer, do not waste your time on such individual.

If those food delivery trucks and trailers in the uploaded image and elsewhere have dual CNG-gasoline hybrid fuel installed in them, that would instantly drive the cost of haulage and food sold in the markets down. Nigeria is more if a gas-producing country than a crude oil country because of the massive gas reserves which have more value in USD than the fast-depleting crude oil reserves.

With the geopolitical tensions and war between the Israeli on one hand and Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Iran on the other hand, if things escalate further and Israel massively bombs Iran as planned, the international price per barrel of crude oil will further rise thereby causing a massive spike in the pump price in many countries and also make absolute nonsense of the cost of feeding and transportation that folks in Nigeria are currently complaining about. A rapid and massive deployment of CNG (methane) fuel [which is far cheaper than PMS at N200 to N230 per standard cubic feet of CNG from NNPC and NIPCO CNG refill stations] and CNG conversion kits or outrightly purchase already factory-produced large CNG trucks and buses by the states such as Niger, Kano, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Delta, Edo, Imo, Rivers, etc, and the central government is what would prevent the spread of more hyperinflation thereby making nonsense of the so-called minimum wage that is being implemented by some states.

The hyperinflation though is LARGELY a mix of artificial inflation due to greed and speculations, illegal toll collection by revenue agents on interstate routes, and illegal checkpoints where some security agents collect bribes. These have gone on unchecked for years since the days of the brutal military dictatorships in Nigeria, and have to be tackled immediately by the governments at all levels in order to remove these food distribution inefficiencies on interstate routes. Period.
We used to have trains. Trains can haul x10 of an average trailer. It is faster too.

Watch this documentary to see how The British transported and exported our food in the 50s. It is not hard, it is the wickedness and selfishness the OP listed that has made the politicians to ignore the simple things that used to work before. You will see yam in the documentary that OP is talking about again shocked

My conclusion is

OUR POLITICIANS WHO LEAD US ARE THE WICKED ONES. VERY WICKED PEOPLE.

Imagine wasting the opportunity of leadership to make people poor. Give them basic amenities and life will be easier. If leaders display good behaviour, the people, their sheep will follow.

See the Singapore PM on a flight with his citizens, yet my President who his wife
says is not greedy bought a new plane when the country is hungry. I can blame people but leaders have more influence to change the way people think and behave

But the last time I checked, the word "Aboki" is a word that orginated from the Hausa language. So any literal definition attached to that other than what the owners of the Language defined it meaning to be may just be a derogatory term just to have superiority complex. But regardless, but the exposed, in exposed, educated, illiterate and the superior and inferior will all die
Do you need me to remind you the people you're referring to? We're not Benue nor Southern Kaduna, neither are we any Yoruba coward zone. Go ask your foot soldier terrorists you're sending to our land and let them update you on what they see here. They will continue to disappear without trace to the very last terrorist hiding anywhere within our territories, no time for noise making. The time you hide behind the former terrorist government to terrorize innocent communities unchallenged has gone.

I agree with you 1000%. Over here in the South, greed is the order of the society. We always feel that we are smart whereas we are idiots, foolish, wicked and selfish.
Transportation from Enugu to Abuja is 38 to 55k depending on the company or bus for a journey of just 250 kilometres or thereabout, while Maiduguri to Abuja cost just 17k for a journey of over 600 kilometres.

Ndi` Uchu`
More roadblocks by police and terrible roads between Enugu and Abuja compared to Maiduguri and Abuja. I'm surprised you don't know this. Anyway, there is an opportunity for you to make money by offering a lower fare. Why not do it? Don't you want to make money?

I'm not surprised....Hunger is in Nigeria because majority of the working population are lazy and want white colar jobs...Even person wen study agricultural science for school go deh complain say hunger deh....

Alot of people prefer to stay on social media from morning till night looking for Facebook and TikTok money... There are a very few people left to farm and insecurity is not helping them at all.....

So the situation now is that, alot of people now depend on the small amount of food the few farmers produce
They make more money doing so than entering the farm. There's a reason countries with a high agriculture-vis-a-vis-GDP ratio are poor. Agriculture already employs more people in Nigeria than any other sector. The south is wealthier than the north by any available metric.

Lastly, technology sectors generate far greater wealth than agricultural industries.
