No. You don't get the purpose of the article. Read again please
where in your write up did you mention anything about service to the nation as the motivation for being and remaining in the civil service?

are these not your words?
PEACE2023:
Remember the higher a southerner become a director, the higher the chance of Southerners getting employment in this organizations.
what does this mean?

PEACE2023:
You are wrong bro. My uncle gave over 2,000 southerners Job during his time because he got to the top. I am a beneficiary.
Another of his beneficiary was just appointed permanent secretary recently.
He has started giving southerners Job too.
The problem is us not the northerners.
Imagine having 30 people climb up the ladder and 7 of them are Southerners, it will still be good because 7 southerners will get Job but if among the 30 no southerner, the FG can not appoint a junior southerner when there are seniors from the north. Never.
Let me tell you.
My uncle gave people Job in many government agencies and parastatals. Some are DPOs, Controllers both in immigration and customs, some are Captains in Army, navy and Air Force. They are climbing with their set, if they remain till their pick, one of them must join the top ladder because federal character is still being used where you have personnel across the geopolitical regions.
Greed is stopping us from taking what belongs to us.
who are the "us" and what belongs to "us"?

He also gave a dumb example of how relocating abroad would turn Naigeerians gay, lesbians, drug addicts and trans. cheesy cheesy if they relocate to Canada, UK and America. What a complete morron!

PEACE2023:
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, this article is based on my personal experience.

I work with a High profile federal government parastatal with good remuneration.

We were 100 that was employed in 2013 drawing from South and North.
We have been promoted 3 times and expecting another promotion.

But something is disturbing me as a Southerner from South East.
About 25 persons from my set have resigned and relocated abroad. Only 2 are still in Nigeria.

It is more shocking that this 25 persons are all from the South. Either South West or South East or South South.

My fear is the implications when our set will get to the pick.
No northerner had resigned or thinking of resigning as at today.

The future implications is that they will occupy majority of the apex positions in this parastatal and the south will start shouting marginalization and why all top directors are from the north.

The last meeting I had at the NNPCL Head quarter's Abuja saw 99% of Top Management Staff from the north.

During The introduction of members I was shaking my head. This bring me to ask, could this issue I am experiencing in my own organization be the same in NNPCL?

Currently a Lady I know in NNPCL resigned and moved to Canada. You already know the future implications to the South when her set will get to the top.

Why are Southerners relocating and leaving their beautiful jobs why the northerners are comfortably enjoying the same work.

Is this greed on the south or that our problems are too much?

I taunt my friend from sokoto some days ago why he doesn't want to japa, he laughed and answered me, to do what over there?

Why are the southerners the only people who sees reasons to japa?
Knowing that we can not live past 100 yrs and we can not go anywhere with all this wealth.

Remember the higher a southerner become a director, the higher the chance of Southerners getting employment in this organizations.

If you work with a good federal government agency share your thoughts.

Are you experiencing the same in your organization?
Abeg I need work for government organization....
I am a pharmacist,..ready to work, I based in abuja.

What even bothers me more is that majority of them that japa don't have a career Job in abroad.
We have seen a lot of them telling us the mistakes they made.
If there is no Igboman in my set in the next 15 years, then no Igboman will be a director as at then so we should not be chanting marginalization when we marginalized ourselves because of greed.
The problem with some of you is that you believe that every Nigerian that leave Nigeria do so because of money.

Let me tell you why I left Nigeria; I hated thw corruption, I hated the fact that we spend billions on our politicians while we lack basic amenities. I hated the fact that traveling can make you cough out millions to pay to kidnappers. I hated the fact that nepotism is the order of the day; if you are not from a certain region, you can't get jobs, even federal jobs in that region.

See, travel to a good western country. You will realise that Nigeria is hell. Money is not everything. People sometimes just wants to go to saner climes where things are done properly.

Just read through the thread and it's quite hilarious. I found it so because of the deep level of ignorance youv shown all of the thread. It's stark obvious youv not left the shores of Nigeria, even for a vist.

You might think you are living the best life with your federal govt job, but one thing I can assure you is that you are just wasting away.

It's possible you have tried to leave the country but you couldn't, making you resort to this cheap emotional foolrey of you living the best life in your govt job.

Do yourself and most imperticular your kids a favour, give yourself an exposure. Go out more and let the log in your eyes fall off.

You can thank me later
My first shock was seeing that the things we take for luxury in Nigeria are actually not. You buy a car the whole neighborhood celebrate when a sophomore in the US drives a better car. What of iPhones, smart TV, air conditioned house. Gosh! You will have to be working in the so called top FG jobs to have access to these things. Nigeria which way. I pray things get better. This is one very illogical argument I hear all the time and I have to comment because I live in America and have seen people fall into this trap for lack of knowledge. If your salary in N1,000,000, you can afford to conveniently live in a N500,000 rented apartment annually and pay from 1 months salary.

The factory worker you referred to cannot get a 1 bedroom apartment to rent for less than $800 monthly and so there is virtually nothing left after working for an entire month. There is no factory worker or (even any average worker) that can pay his annual rent from 1 month salary. So as far as living conditions is concerned, the FG worker with N1,000,000 is living in the dreams of the factory worker earning <$1000, who will most likely need to share an apartment with a friend.

I am not saying migrating is a bad idea, however stop cherry-picking where to convert from $ to N. I see people migrate with their family because they were told you can conveniently make $2000 (3 million) monthly through Uber but no one told them they will also pay over N2,000,000 for rent monthly 😀

If you are going to respond, please stay within the nexus of my argument and don’t extrapolate to anything I did not say. Thanks

docdes:
grin Have you ever asked yourself why the South is better developed with higher quality of life despite the North occupying top political positions? It boils down to being strategic.

The average Southerner thinks far. The world economy today requires people to think beyond local environments. The average Southerner thinks globally while the average Northerner thinks locally because he can't compete globally.

For example, even if you're earning ₦1,000,000 monthly in your Federal Government job, it's barely more than $600, which many factory workers in the US earn per week.

Then, considering security, no matter how insecure US, UK, Canada, or Australia may be, you can't compare it with Nigeria where there are ALWAYS a million ways to die. So, enjoy your federal job and leave those who are seeking greener pastures to do so.

Naaah. Corruption is not everywhere. If the corruption that is in Nigeria exists in these western countries, they would have since collapsed. When a former UK prime minister said if the money that has been stolen from Nigeria was stolen from the UK, the UK would have collapsed, you thought he was joking?

You are talking about Hunter Biden. Corruption perception of a country is not about politicians alone. How do Nigerians see the Nigeria police and judiciary? Is the average Nigeiran not corrupt?

If corruption exists everywhere, there wouldn't be no need to be ranking countries on a corruption index. Or you want tell me say Sweden and Nigeria have the same level of corruption?

Your assumption that i am from the north is quite wrong, I am not from the Northern part of Nigeria, I have only shared my experience based on living in the north and having about 95% of my neighbours from all parts of the northern region during that phase of my life.
Again I understand your sentiment. However, your experience should not distort the fact, no matter how emotionally attached you are to the people in the northern region.

The simple fact is that the region is the poverty and illiterate capital. There no disproving that, and there are historic data to back that up.

Sorry dear. It appears we are miles apart in our world view. I don't subscribe to such warped thinking. If I were to be in my early 50's, to be honest with you, I will seriously contemplate japa.

I know a particular organization where the people of the South does the doing while the privileged region does the getting of the pecks of office. So it becomes a case of monkey de work baboon de chop. So I ask you, is that fair?

Hewers of wood and drawers of water is not cool. It is slavery. Besides, opportunities for growth and development in ones chosen career is much more outside than here where infrastructure is atrociously insufficient.

Can you look at the schools over here and honestly say that what we have here is good enough for a thorough academic to excel? The universities that produce the core of administrators are lacking in funding in all the departments. One can't do proper research work here in any discipline. Will you want an academic remain here an end up a mediocre when there are several collages out there looking for such a person.

Professor Ilooba or so of UNN ended up working at immigration service and briefly headed the agency before he was replaced. How about that? Was the pay and facilities top notch that he should leave an academic environment and take up job in the immigration service a professor? Its absurd to say the least.

So my dear, sincerely speaking, it is a choice imposed on those leaving by the system.

This is the CORRUPTION that most people agree is holding Nigeria back. This one is NEPOTISM. And you're correct, this kind of thing is widespread in Nigeria.

Government jobs produce NOTHING and that's the truth in EVERY COUNTRY in the world.

Look at NNPC, blessed with everything needed and yet it can't operate ordinary refinery. People are there collecting huge salary for doing nothing.

Private sector is where people are producing wealth through innovation and hard work.

Keep enjoying 😉, let others make their own choices.

Good Luck to Nigeria
