Please, what’s wrong with the passport pickup services? I had my interview in Abuja last week Tuesday and I picked Lagos as my pickup center. I booked appointment on OIS, on getting to their office in Lagos, they say my Passport isn’t with them. And the ceac website say “issued” what’s wrong? I’ve not gotten any email or message from the embassy to pick up my passport tho. Usually it doesn’t take this long, but has things change? Can anyone enlighten us? |

lol. that person just said that to get you off the phone. They DO NOT know what they are doing and even they don't know what is going on. The customer service agents just read off a script and they have no critical thinking skills. Don't hold your breath waiting on them. deees: |

Yikes, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think you would be moving past that stage. I hope you do, though please let us know if you do. A couple of us had the same problem and got a rejection email after waiting for about a month without explanation (we were all for Lagos). Some people had to pay another MRV and select Abuja. Good luck! Also, please answer if you paid online on the AVIT portal with a card. Abdgafarplenty: |

I also got this email on Sept. 29th. Think it was a bug in their system that they have refused to address because they either don't know or don't care that it happened ![]() Abdgafarplenty: |

I have been able to get activation email. I called them yesterday, when they asked for my passport number, I said it wasn't with me so it won't bring my Lagos profile. I called around 4 pm yesterday, I got the activation mail around 12 pm today. |

Good evening all. Please I need advise and guidance. I have an urgent business appointment for next month in the US. I was denied B1/B2 primary business VISA about two weeks ago. I have reapplied although yet to submit the DS-160 form but have paid the MRV (VISA) fees on 7/10/2024 using my previous AVITS profile. My AVITS dash board is now showing 2 appointment (1expired). Its also showing Pending appointment request. I have raised a ticket on sat 12/10/2024 to correct pending appointment request issue but no action yet. However, on My appointments window, I have 1 schedule appointment for 11th Nov 2025. Also, 2 reschedule available. It's not clear to me if this schedule appointment is from my previous denied VISA (as this is the 1st date I got from my previous denied VISA before I rescheduled using the expedite window) or if this schedule date is from my request appointment request. I want to find out if I should continue to wait (though time is running out) till the pending appointment issue is resolved or should progress with schedule appointment. I want to request for an expedited appointment. Please any useful advise will be highly appreciated. |

DanteSilva:I am not so great at critiquing transcripts as most times, the responses just like the questions are premediated. For a regular transcript, what people do is analyze the flow of the conversation. That said, your question 12 and its response for me seems not so realistic. If your firm is not into finance, I am not sure with the volatility in the Finance sector, they would switch into it because you studied in the United States. I think in recent times, based on your transcript, I would start from "I would want to use the OPT as a way to gain real life experience beyond the knowledge from the Financial Laboratory working for a mid size firm to get more grounded and also use that period to network Nigerian organizations I can help with my knowledge as a consultant upon my return". I think they know too well if you are good enough, their society needs you thus, you don't have to be quick to talk about coming back immediately. I am not sure you want your dad to spend almost a 100 million naira and not help recoup a part of it any way you can. You could even talk about further studies if it is something you are interested in and how you intend to use data from American firms to help aid your understanding through research which you intend to apply to the Nigerian economy and by extension, the global economy as much as you can. |

I have people mention that hinting to the VO that you want to stay back even for a little bit is a red flag. The OPT and further studies advice sounds good but won't it be a red flag to the VO. GboyegaD: |

ibroh22:Almost similar to my son's case because his aunt in the US will provide room and board for the duration of the program and she's also a part sponsor. We have indicated her address on the earlier DS160 form submitted as his residence. We intend to fill another form because interview date was not secured on time. They said no provision for profile update now, but we can fill a new form and come with it for the interview next month. So for this particular one you advise that we change the earlier address of his aunt and fill with the DSO details? 1) Won't the VO compare both forms and notice the change? 2) How can this information not be mentioned if he's asked about where he's going to stay because she actually got him a place. Won't the VO ask of their relationship? I'll appreciate your answers. Thank you. |

Overall, I think it looks good. I suggest continuously reviewing your responses so that when you the VO asks a question, your response comes across as organic and not rehearsed. Also be prepared because the VO will likely cut you off at some point so try not to let an abrupt interruption stump you. You do not state the cost of attendance but make sure that whoever is paying the deficit has enough funds in their account. It is a stretch to ask a VO to believe that your company or you dad is going to spend half of their account balance or annual income on your education for 18 months. Good luck with your interview! If his aunt will be providing room and board, then you can list his aunt's address. I did not stay with my relative even though we were in the same state, yet I included her address and it was not an issue. Ezepikin: |

DanteSilva:It depends on the flow as they also use psychology to assess your case. Your intentions are genuine and getting more experience is not a crime. |

I applied for a US visa for my mom, but I have been trying to upload the Slip reference number to AVITS for the last 24 hours, but I keep getting the error "The reference number does not exist." I am just wondering if there's a way I am supposed to enter it. I am sure I am entering the code as it's on the slip. I would appreciate any info that will help me scale through this stage to pick a date for her. I have sent an email to support but no response yet. |

Yes, the system allowed me to do that and I chose Lagos, because I felt I jad to stick to my choice on DS-160. I also filled my travel date. It's been 5weeks now, no progress. DFocus: |

DanteSilva:6. Why this course? 7. What will this program do for you? 12. Post study plans. Your questions 6,7,12 are the same. You have to take whatever opportunity presented to you to tell the VO you have no plans on staying back. Question 2, 3, 4, 5 while different, their answers can merge into each other. For example, Why this school? So I can work in Professor XYZ lab. To learn risk management in a top rated school in the mid-west. You get? Always put your best foot forward FIRST, attack right from the get go n prepare for all scenarios including being cut off. |

Hi everyone, first time posting. Just wanted to ask a question regarding proof of funds. I got admission for fall 2024 but wasn't able to go due to personal reasons and because of that, I lost my GA cause they needed someone starting in fall 2024 although the department that awarded me the GA role gave me student employment for spring after which I would take over the GA role starting fall 2025. The COA is 36,000, of which I personally have 18k, my sibling has 10k and my uncle has 20k, which totals up to 48k. My uncle doesn't bear my surname as he changed his last name so I told him to give the money to my dad so he could pay it to my account directly. Do I also need to tell my sibling to do the same and during the interview, say all the funds are in my account but it's a combination or still take the statement of account of my sibling plus mine with the funds from my dad in it? I have enough to pay my spring tuition and the student employment is enough to cover rent and feeding, I was just wondering if it's worth the stress or if should I just wait until fall 2025 although the whole election thing is why I really want to go during this spring. Thanks. |
