I might reduce the camry to 2000km like this coz I can't afford to ring another engine under 2years
You should

For a car that's always on the road almost everyday...4000 km is way too much

I was using mobil before, then I switched to total...
I dey shout here on top of my voice, use recommended oil Una dey talk say "oil na oil provided u change it monthly" or at 4000miles. No need crying over spilt milk now.
Mobil is still good sef...Total is very notorious for spoiling engine.

4000km is way to late, my Chief.

Maybe those who are mechanics can educate us, but for a car that is used for city driving, 2500km is fair.

Nigeria is hard, so 3000km don do....For 20w oh

I could be wrong sha
A lot of people don't even know the dash reads mileage in miles which is 1.6X bigger than km.
So when u are targeting 4000 on the dash it's actual 4000miles which is 6,400km

Nothing beats using recommended oil. Synthetic oil will protect the engine far better than mineral oil especially when used for harsh and extreme conditions like ehailing in Lagos.

I use a 1.8L motor from Europe.
Fuel economy is fairly ok for the cars age.
Most gas stations are selling bad PMS.

For lube change, manufacturer recommended 5W20 full synthetic; which I have been using for over 17 years.
10 months or 10,000km interval, whichever comes first.

I prefer Indriver for a vast number of reasons, most already discussed here in the past.

Second choice is Uber( targeting IJJB)

I detest Bolt and their riders. Lol 😂

Good job sir, that PMS figure is huge if you're using a 1.6-1.8 engine, except perhaps you're using a bigger engine..If it's a 1.8 engine, maybe you should be around 580-600k..You may want to fine-tune a little more..
Nevertheless, you're not doing badly at all..68 trip no be moin-moin...I no envy u.
With this, all the lazy driver asking for weekly remittance of less than 50k should hug the nearest transformer. They should just wait till tomorrow when national grid go don restore power ..
Weldone sir...I like hardworking guys.
I don't really think my vehicle consumes a lot technically.
I might be wrong though.

@ PMS of 568/l, I was doing ratio 1:4 (expenditure:gross).

Now its about 1:3 as indrive have refused to adjust fares accordingly angry

I target long trips (90+ mins ) most times to limit my rider Interaction to <5 per day.

That Ijebu Ode to Sagamu that you are driving easily, dem dey kidnap people for there day and night.

Many cases of crimes are underreported. You just have to travel a lot or be in parks to know that it is God that is saving you.

I am a frequent traveler as well sir, the road is not bad as it's been painted.
I drive at night as well, and as we speak a lot of people are traveling this night unlike before that the road was so unsafe.
The government thought they were intimidating us that use the road with plenty checkpoints of soldiers, customs, police, vigilantes and even civil defense, but it's actually helping to keep the road a bit safe even though they are there mostly to extort travelers.

What is the cost of 20w50 ? Help me find out..

What am thinking is that for you uber drivers. Does it make sense to use full synthetic and change oil every 7k to 10k miles vs using mineral and change every 3k miles and plus factor the labour cost to change oil....

Now I know for fact the cost of Mobil 1 Nigeria pic (1)below is currently 71500k . And am sure the cost of mineral has also gone up......

And my imported Mobil 1 is cheaper than the Nigeria version.. Let's how the break will be

During this T pain economy person has to be wise on. how the run their finances

2500km is just 1500 miles. The oil can certainly go longer.
It's an old engine.. 2500km is very ideal to drop the oil.
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by northbird: 3:40am On Oct 17, 2024
2500km is ideal to change the oil. Regular oil change is the secret to a long lasting engine.

Travelling inter state pulls a strong toll on the engine. I decline interstate trips because if you do the maths, it's always a loss for the engine.
As long as it's ehailing ( commercial use) , the car must be serviced regularly to remain in pristine condition.

Bro, from my personal experience. Mobil is better than total. I did a service with total and immediately my engine started tapping. Mind you that tapping sound was not there before the oil change. Immediately I had to drain the entire total oil and bought Mobil oil. Could you believe that after using Mobil, I started engine. The sound became normal and silent as before.
Since then I just cancelled anything total.

Mobil 5w30
That total 20W50 is too thick for the engine.

Good morning bosses, please I have an issue with my car. I noticed that whenever I buy fuel I have to press the accelerator while starting the car before the car starts and when it starts, it may go off unless I keep revving the accelerator and drive it for a while before it normalizes. But after it normalizes, it drives normally even if I off the car and on it agai. I have changed the plugs and the fuel filter but it still the same thing.
NB: this only happens when ever I buy fuel, also I noticed when ever the hard starting happens if I disconnect the hose that feeds the injectors/nozzles, there is a huge rush of fuel from the hose maybe due to excees pressure and if i connect it back, the car starts one hand

Any idea what I can look into again?

I used Mobil 20w50 for 4 years Corrolla 06.. Engine is very quiet. Your challenge is you don't service on time.
At the time I was using it. The service schedule was btw 1600 -1800 on the dashboard. Worst case 2000. I snapped the dashboard everytime I service. So I check my gallery with the dashboard after like 3 weeks.
Though I never travelled with the car.

Mine was the oil pump. Had to change the oil pump and switch back to Mobil before my car returned to normal.

Some will say it's a one off. May we never be the one off.
They should mandate users of CNG to have a big sign or label on their car. When refilling, we can distance them even in traffic.

But most incidents like this always happen during refilling. Why? Enginners in the house help us to explain? Is it what they call static electricity/energy?
