How do some people feel that the price of Dangote fuel will automatically dropped? It won't drop for now. Were you not aware that Dangote bought crude in dollars from some countries? Those stocks are still there and don't forget, it's recently that those in charge of crude, started selling crude to him in Naira. As for now, his stock of imported crude is what he is currently using to produce PMS unless he exhaust them, we can't see the expected drop in fuel prices. When our government could not build, revitalize or even sell the country's dilapidated refineries to private sectors for more than a decades, why won't Dangote monopolize the market? If we don't want him to monopolize the market, private sectors should start building their own refineries as well as pressurizing the government to sell out non functional refineries outrightly or to PRIVATIZED them. Up Dangote.... |

I am even running out of patience to read this kind of propaganda flying over nairaland what about the port harcourt refineries, artisanal refiners should be licensed like dangote that is all, southx2 region does not need explanations of what is going on with Mr Dangote refinery that one can serve the southwest and north but for south south it will be either port harcourt refineries or artisanal refiners |

ALTERNATEID:if buhari did not "implement any reform", why is it that tinubu said he will continue from where buhari stopped? is he continuing from the nothing that you say buhari did? tinubu once told nigerians that buhari is nigeria's only solution. how come you are now saying that tinubu is correcting buhari's wastefulness? how can tinubu be correcting what buhari did when buhari was nigeria's ONLY solution? can you show me data that supports your claim that all Nigeria earned plus loans was used to subsidies PMS and keep the exchange rate low? if you say "tinubu has departed from that wasteful pattern of spending", how come tinubu spent $150m on a new plane that was not needed? how come he spent billions buying new cars for his wife and himself at the presidency? how come he spent N12b on building a new house for the VP? how come he spent N1b on just a week's trip to Addis Ababa? how come he spent N244m in one day to purchase new tyres? |

naijaboy756:1. Your old exchange rate was artificial. Arbitrarily fixed and defended with petrodollar. 2. The petrodollar is no longer there. 3. So much was borrowed in the past to fund your budget. The debts will have to be serviced now. 4. Uncontrolled importation. Petroleum products being a major factor. 5. The situation was so bad that your foreign reserves were depleted such that you couldn't defend the fixing of the exchange rate anymore. 6. Adverse balance of trade. 7. Because your old artificial method was no longer sustainable, there were backlog of due fx obligations. 8. Massive usage of ways and means to fund your budget resulting to too much money pursuing too few goods. This is part of the inflation. 9. High level corruption in every area of the economy. 10. Etc. etc. So you can see that we were in a big mess. The economy was totally dislocated. The orthopedic surgeon has to work. Of course there must be massive pain. |

richmond500:You people and your numerous lies never cease to astound. Always desperate to post the next false news so as to get paid more. ![]() Similar reports were raised back in September due to more Nigerians altogether abandoning their cars and turning off their generators. Demand has been dropping and as such importation would also common-sensically drop as well. Where is your evidence instead Dangote now refines more local crude than it has in the past and that has resulted in a reduction in imports. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:una too mumu, the information was clear. ![]() The importation of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, into Nigeria, has significantly declined in the first two weeks of October as the Dangote Refinery increased production to meet local demand. |

ALTERNATEID:According to reports, oil products take 40% of our imports. That's a very significant figure. The positive effects on FX, if oil imports are suspended, ought to be immediate, but you may choose to be blind, especially when Naira is even depreciating further. |

Realtruth2023:Nobody is stupid bro. Na u no reason well. If those measures were so easy to implement as u have just used mouth to list them, then why then Obasanjo, Yaradua, Jonathan and Buhari who all came before him couldn't use the shock absorbers and remove the corrupt subsidy regime? E easy they couldn't solve the problems, but rather plunge Nigeria into this mess of today and we are all suffering it. If the formulas used by past presidents of Nigeria didn't work, let Tinubu use his own and let's see how he ends it. You don't bury someone before he dies. He has barely used one year in office. The end justifies the means. ![]() |

lailo:Obasanjo implemented them and Nigeria benefitted from the implementation beginning of his second term in office. Go back and see for yourself how Obasanjo was able to pay off Nigeria's debt, obtain debt relief, and even save up $50 billion in Nigeria's Excess Crude Accounts. All this was before Yar Adua came in and rolled back most of the policies and abandoned the reforms. ![]() https://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/scr/2005/cr05433.pdf What APC has done is nothing short of stewpid and disastrous to the Nigerian economy. ![]() |

Kobojunkie:You are right. Obasanjo removed fuel subsidy, na Yaradua reintroduce am. Obasanjo did railway but his predecessors uprooted everything and today no railway, thank God for Buhari. Obasanjo fix all federal roads across the country but vandals removed everything. Obasanjo built 4 refineries but his predecessors sold all the refineries. Obasanjo revamped the agriculture sector and there was self sufficiency in food, Nigeria was not importing again, only for Yaradua people to come and scrap it. Obasanjo raise thr minimum wage to #100k but Yaradua reduced it back to #7500. ![]() Obasanjo really tried ![]() |
| Re: Petrol Import Into Nigeria Drops Sharply In October by Kobojunkie: 12:35am On Oct 18, 2024 |
lailo:That was instead Jonathan who began the revamping of rail and building of new systems as part of the plan that the Obasanjo NEEDS plan— Jonathan did make attempts to reboot the Obasanjo plan actually but that was stifled by the opposition who used propaganda and attacks to make him appear an incompetent leader at the time. ![]() https://www.thecable.ng/flashback-in-2013-jonathans-govt-unveiled-plans-to-build-rail-line-to-niger-republic/ https://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/reviving-nigerias-railways-jonathan-approach-2/ https://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/scr/2005/cr05433.pdf 2. Obasanjo implemented and sustained the reforms suggested by the World Bank/IMF — His administration had clear implementations plans made public as well. If all of that development had been sustained, Nigeria would have been light years ahead of where it is today. ![]() https://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/scr/2005/cr05433.pdf But the point is, we have history to show that these same reforms have been successfully deployed right there in Nigeria before now. ![]() |

lailo:Once again you don't have sense. The corrupt subsidy regime that they are talking about why has Tinubu not done a probe to fish out the corrupt people. Why did Tinubu protest against Jonathan when he removed subsidy? You want to play ostrich and deny the role Tinubu played against Jonathan and all of a sudden he is now supporting the removal of it. Dude if you have nothing sensible to say just shut up. |

samwheel:I have never implied say he get us for mind that why i stated its a business.he clamouring for complete removal of subsidy is right becos government was seriously subsidzing to bring fuel to 700.mind u most of d subsidy payments goto neigboring countries. How much did ur govt sell crude to him is d question u should focus on. Govt should pay 300 subsidy to dangote or sell cheaper crude for naija usage fulstop Stop crying thata business man wit share holders made money.... afterall na still tinubu bois dey import |

ALTERNATEID:Who told you the imports were done on credit? Even if it's so done, why would the Naira depreciate even further in the light of reduced oil imports and SLIMMER credit obligations? Since the Naira is expected to gain, hoarders would have shed their FX holds, leading to an even greater appreciation. Why are we going the opposite direction? |
