Yes, you'll need to apply for a visa appointment before getting admission.

The current wait time for a category B appointment is just over 2 years.

You're in Category A if

> You're a PHD student
> You have a scholarship financed by German public funds
> You hold a first class bachelors degree

*Everybody* else is in Category B.

bro congrats. Seems like your visa came out in just 4 weeks. You did your interview after me but i havent gotten any feedback. Seems like they prioritize category A over all other visa types

I submitted my passport during the interview and it took me 6 weeks after that to get the visa.
But from what I've heard from other people, it should take more than a week after submitting your passport to get the visa

Appointments date for category B in Nigeria is now 2 years plus.. It's well.

My school have mailed the embassy still nothing I have called and sent countless mails still nothing, I even went to the embassy in person still nothing all I get is still in process. Please what should I do next? school resumed since last month I have enrolled and sent the certificate already to the embassy too but still nothing. My patience done finish since.

You most likely have some missing documents in your application. My younger brother had to wait for like 10 weeks for his Visa to be processed, though he was in category A. They sent a message after like 8 weeks to submit his insurance documents. And it took like another 2 weeks for them to finish up with the processing. Don’t worry, they’ll contact you. I know it’s not easy with the waiting and all, gosh my brother nearly craze, I no go lie you but it will end in praise for you and for everyone who’s applied or still in the waiting list. Don’t give up, I encourage you. Keep praying too also, you may never know.

The waiting period now for category B is 25 months (2 years 1 month)

The lagos embassy was pretty cool. My appointment was for 9am but I got ther 6:50 and was attended to. Make sure you have all your original documents as they will be checked by Mr Paulinus. Also dont carry cash, carry your card amd make sure the card is working because i was actually shouted at for bringing cash. Then make sure all your documents are signed.
After we got past all these, the interview was actually cool and short. Make sure you answer all the questions concisely. Dont say too much so that you dont get into trouble. Also dont say you can speak german if you cant because you will be tested on that. And make sure you are able to defend the money in your blocked account

Every single applicant must meet the €11k yearly requirements. If you're on scholarship, it must cover that amount. If it's less, you must block the deficit. If you're a PHD candidate, your PhD contract must cover such, or you provide BA or SL.

So no matter your category, proof of that $11k must be provided by BA, SL or Scholarship

There's nothing you can do because more than 5000 Nigerians are in your shoes too. Unless you fall under CAT A, meaning you get a scholarship or PHD admission , you have at least 19 months to wait. There's absolutely nothing you can do. No special treatment. 2026

Either you meet the financial criteria of €11,904 through a blocked account or a sponsorship letter or a scholarship.
