No thanks to APC. All Promises Cancelled. One remembers 2014 when Bola Tinubu and Muhammadu Buhari promised 24hours electricity if they were elected to take over Nigeria. |

Nigeria has the highest population of black people in the world so what do you expect. Nigerian population is growing at an alarming rate without growing GDP to match the population. It's only going to get worse. It's common sense. |

SmartPolician:It's politicians pretend they don't know because they are sharing crude oil proceeds among themselves. If Nigeria is in Europe, the politicians would have since dissolved the dysfunctional Nigeria. |

Racoon:There is a mixup. He didn’t say about 40% of Nigerian citizens, what he said was that 40% of NIGERIAN ELECTRICITY CONSUMERS. He did not mention 40% of ENTIRE POPULATION OF NIGERIA. Thanks |

onuman:Yes, typical liars But you are also saying that PDP was not giving us 24 hours power , otherwise the Stick and Frog eyes would not have been able to make that promise. Either tinubu is continuing the good work of PDP and Jonathan in not giving us power.., or you PDP, APC, BIafra, OOdua, sharia compliant, obidients, etc etc accept the cold reality that if you pay below the production cost of something, can't expect it to work well. |

Racoon:Nope 40 percent of consumers hooked up to the grid And the reason is simple. They are paying above market price, and the DISCOS give them lots of power in return. Pay for something, expect to get it. If you guys want power to imporve, first, get your head out of the political manure, because this ain't about APC vs PDP...second, realize that subsides are not supposed to be paid for by loans and more loans, and third, either we pay market price for power or we forget about 24 hours a day power. |

richiemcgold:If we don't find a way to stop naira from daily falls, all other efforts will just be a waste. Hyper inflation and naira losing value everyday is a major disaster |

Electricity is essential for industrialization. Buhari was a terrible president/leader, but he gave governors the opportunity to be saviours by allowing states to produce their own power. All the grammar about economy is useless without stable source of Energy. The amount of energy a country uses is the true measure of development. Unfortunately, we have lazy, visionless governors still heavily dependent on FG. Electricity/Energy is what will bring jobs, will bring REAL MANUFACTURING. I mean manufacturing of ships, planes, etc that employs over 100,000 human beings. Boeing alone has over 50,000 workers, there are other huge companies like Lockheed Martin, Tesla, General Motors, Texas Instruments, Intel etc. That's why developed countries need more workers ; they don't have humans to do menial jobs! |

richiemcgold:Power is not affordable. It costs billions to build a power station...and even more to upgrade grids. Right now the UK is building a giant nuclear power plant. If I tell you the cost, you would scream. It costs billions to maintain the stuff needed to keep the grid running, because one is not going to build a grid and expect it to work like that for centuries without breaking down. PLus all the components are imported, and companies that make them demand cash first. I mean one of our new power stations...they had to design the turbines to our specs and the buildings to house them, and that cost a lot of money, before we began the building process (It is online by the way). LIke I say here many times, it costs 160 NAIRA at least to make one kwh of power. Only 40% of consumers pay anywhere above that. Most of us pay below N100 per kwnh, and 40-50% don't even pay. As a result the discos are not making the kind of profit that would enable them to pay for imporvements, or new gen systems. And you expect miracles with their low profits. If you like, you can shout and call me agbado. But the truth is, unless we are ready to pay above N160 per kwh or more, we are not going to get anything like 24/7 power. And if you like, we can yowl all day about subsides in Europe and the USA...which apart from the fact that they do not apply to everyone, are paid for by the kind of taxation, that if Frog eyes were to implement it here, y'all would be screaming blue murder. |

To support the implementation of Nigeria’s power sector recovery program, the bank provides Nigeria with $200 million for the Nigerian electrification project which is designed to fill the country’s electricity access gap. |
