Prioritize The Repair And Completion Of Existing Road Infrastructure... – Obi by DamnnNiggarr(op): 3:05pm On Oct 19, 2024
On Tuesday the 15th, my journey from Onitsha in Anambra State to Anyigba in Kogi State by road once again underscored my consistent appeal for all tiers of government to prioritize the repair and completion of existing road infrastructure, rather than launching new projects that may not be completed anytime soon, further adding to the growing list of abandoned projects scattered all over the country.

The journey, which should normally take around three and a half hours, took us over seven hours. The route through Obollo Afor, Otukpa Branch, Ejule, and Anyigba was exhausting. On the return trip, we took an alternate route via Ogugu and Enugu-Ezike, departing Kogi State around 2:00 p.m. and not arriving back until about 9:00 p.m. – all for a meeting that lasted just 30 minutes.

This is my travel experience across the country this year. In the first quarter, I had cause to travel from Calabar to Uyo, a trip that should take about an hour, but it ended up taking four hours. I travelled from Port Harcourt to Bayelsa, thinking I would use the East-West Road to Warri, but it became a treacherous journey. Warri to Benin was a similar experience.

In August, I travelled from Abuja to Kaduna, where I spent over two hours on the Kaduna bypass alone.

The Onitsha to Benin route was no different.

My recent trip from Benin to Auchi and back was excruciating, and one cannot help but wonder. I know these things cannot be fixed overnight, but my appeal is that there should be total commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Nigerian travelling public, rather than launching new projects.

The resources should be directed toward improving the existing roads and easing the burden on commuters. -PO

To be very candid, this Nigeria will not work in all sincerity. A new Nigeria is what we want .

Isn't this the most commonsensical thing to do?
But no they won't, they'll rather embark on constructing a coastal highway to fraud, that will never be completed, till thy kingdom come.

Only Peter Obi can solve Nigeria Issues, because he relate with the common man mostly and he understands their pains. He uses our road mostly more than any politician. Obi will fix Nigeria.

Good point.from Obi, but we also need to fix and expand the railways .

That's the best way we can reduce the load on the roads.
Re: Prioritize The Repair And Completion Of Existing Road Infrastructure... – Obi by reiddecuti: 4:15pm On Oct 19, 2024
The mess in Nigeria is so compounding and complex. Even Peter Obi cannot make a scratch of it.

Even if we decide now to deliberately begin to build Nigeria, it will take up-to half a century to begin to see the results. Why because every sector is dead — from health care to education, transportation, housing, energy (including electricity, PMS, diseal, etc) pipe born water.

Every sector in Nigeria is rotten and stink to high heaven.

Unfortunately, Nigeria is still slumbering and not ready.

Joke apart, Nigeria is truly the definition of the African proverb "A fool at 40 is a fool forever."

Anambra state would have been better than it is. I recalled he was a governor for 8 years. Why did subsequent governors inherit abandoned projects from him and why did he start new projects when he also inherited abandoned projects by his predecessor .

Talk is cheap

Yea right.
The way he transformed Anambra State before handing over to his Fidelity Bank boy, who quickly made the politically naive olodo a destitute politician jumping from APGA to PDP and now in the communist LP labourers camp.

Civil servants and pensioners are been owed 3 MONTHS salary, so many abandoned projects yet the woman sounding governor is always in abuja 24/7.

newsbook:
Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has re-echoed his allegation that his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him for sponsoring his election in 2013.

Obiano and his predecessor, Obi have had a frosty relationship shortly after his swearing in.

Obi has however denied that he demanded for the sum of N7.5billion from Obiano, saying that his problem with him was his (Obiano’s) underperformance.

Obi said if he needed the said sum, he would have simply taken it from the N75billion he left for the Obiano administration at the end of his tenure.

But Governor Obiano while speaking on Wednesday evening at Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha where he inaugurated his reelection campaigns in Onitsha North Council Area, said the clarification became necessary because of the recent accusations against him by the former Governor.

He stated that his predecessor had demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him as funds spent in prosecuting the election on his behalf, but that he refused to pay the money because it was not true.

Obiano said he refused to pay because he strongly believed that public funds should be used for public good, and not to settle godfathers.

These, he said, was the reason they fell apart.

The governor said that another reason he refused to pay the money was because he was aware that enough money was raised for his campaign by his friends and associates, all of which were never accounted for by the former governor.

He didn't do anything.

What was he supposed to do that he didn't do?

Is the Jonathan the immediate past president?

If Jonathan did not do anything about these roads, why didn't his successor do something?

The same way he related with Anambra people for 8 years without good roads and 1 year strike action by doctors that led to death of so many patients

Check his governorship record and get back to us. VERY TERRIBLE 8 YEARS RECORD OF AGONY

Did Soludo take over from obi?

The only way you can keep roads anywhere well maintained is by tolling them

And the big reason why the government of Nigeria at state and federal level do not toll the roads is because people will cry poverty.

The few tolled roads we have in Nigeria are well maintained

Why does a man who claims to be smart and to have the solutions to the allocation and d prioritization of our national resources travel 3hrs for a meeting of 30minutes in this day and age of technology and ends up spending 7hrs? That is a man who does not know how to allocate and prioritize resources including time. Is it that he does not know how traveling on our roads are like and this is a possibility?

People won’t ask these essential questions instead they will believe the noise from a man who has nothing to show for his 8 years in charge of a state.
