Good day my good people. I really need your honest review and comment on this. I am about to buy a car and I am considering Honda CRV due to what have read about its durability. However, I wish to hear from anyone who has had experience with Honda CRV. Please which year is best to use in Nigeria between 2003, 2004 or 2005 models. Things am considering: - Maintenance - Availability of parts - Fuel economy - Availability of mechanics - I currently live in Ibadan - Any known electrical or wiring problems - Any known mechanical issues Please, I need your input, help a brother. Thank you |

The one you can afford. Your purchase of a car should be bases on the mathematics of ownership not the emotion of ownership. Fuel is N1200/l, our people are looking at making you pay as much as N1350/l minimum Your choice is what you can afford to run. I know people who can't afford to run a Corolla in this new economy. Make your financial decision wisely. You get to live with the consequences. The things I can afford might not be same for you |

Good day! You're on the right track considering Honda CRV - it's generally a solid choice for Nigerian roads. Let me share some insights that might help: Year Choice (2003-2005): Honestly, within this range, the differences are minimal. However, the 2005 model might have slightly better features and potentially less wear if you're buying at similar mileage. But condition matters more than the specific year - a well-maintained 2003 can outperform a poorly maintained 2005. Maintenance & Parts: Parts availability is decent, especially in Ibadan. You'll find both genuine and aftermarket parts, though genuine Honda parts can be pricey. The CRV shares some components with other Honda models, which helps with sourcing. Fuel Economy: For an SUV, it's reasonable but not exceptional - expect around 8-10km per liter in city driving, better on highways. With current fuel prices, factor this into your budget o. Mechanics in Ibadan: You're in luck - Ibadan has several experienced mechanics familiar with Honda vehicles. Check around Sango, Mokola, or Challenge areas for reputable Honda specialists. Common Issues to Watch: Transmission: Some of these models had issues with automatic transmission slipping. Test drive thoroughly and ensure smooth gear changes. AC compressor: Can be problematic and expensive to fix Suspension components wear out (but that's common for any car this age) Check for oil leaks around engine seals My Advice: Whatever year you choose, prioritize getting a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic. Check service history if available, and don't rush the purchase. A well-maintained 2003 CRV is better than a neglected 2005. Also, budget extra for immediate maintenance after purchase - these cars are 18-21 years old, so expect to replace some wear items. Wishing you the best with your purchase!
