there are many subsets of education you know.

Formal and academic education have lots of advantages, so does other of it's subsets like informal education ,skills, self learning, etc..

What I'm against is the fear factor you guys tends to put in the mind of people making them believe this formal education is the el dorado of it all.

Tomorrow, if that person graduates and refuse to find a job, he'd start blaming people who had told him otherwise..

The "you will regret it" phrase sounds more like a threat than an advice
It is not a threat but an advice . Some of us know senior men who have been unable to move ahead because of educational qualification barrier .

Some of us have friends who currently regret they didn’t see their academic program through because we see openings we wished we can recommend them but they do not have the qualification .

We simply don’t want him to be in such awkward position in the future . We are talking from naija point of view and not abroad where educational qualification doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things in the labour market .

In naija , even if u make money without education , u will still be encouraged to take educational qualification in the future when it will be harder for you. Education open ur path to a world of unlimited opportunities . Even when u want to relocate from this country , emigrating as an educated person sets u apart from those emigrating as unskilled labour .

He is 1 year away from graduation. Based on statistics and factoring strikes of different types, he must have spent 4-5 years already on the program.

It would be unwise to abandon the project now when the completion date is so near, cos that would mean he pretty much wasted the last half decade of his life. Unless there is a sure banker million-dollar deal waiting for him right now sha.

Na that time I enter food section and YouTube begin learn how to cook every recipe by myself.

Just this week I took a friend out to eat at a Naija restaurant. 2 people Amala and abula. The bill after tax is $80

Honestly . Okpa get him 4ck ups normally but he’s head and heels over APC/BAT supporters .

At least there’s consistency with Okpa and what he sets his heart to believe , but not our APC/BAT brigade. Imagine people defending Buhari for 7 and half years . All the forward loans that made Buhari pledge untapped crude to our lenders , they defended it. They defended Buhari’s government printing billions of naira and said Buhari led APC government was setting us on a path to be more successful as a country from where GEJ/PDP left us.

Today they are the ones singing the tune that Tinubu inherited a battered economy . I even saw a so called FCA ( Fellow Chartered accountant ) on twitter agreeing with Orji Uzor Kalu that Nigeria never had a proper economy since 1960 until Tinubu came on board in 2023. 🤦‍♂️. When Obasanjo was doing wonders between 1999 and 2007 Nigeria no get economy abi

Omo! These people too do!
In 2006 most of our debt was forgiven. Check how much we were indebted by 5yrs after our zero clean slate?

Does that look like a proper and sustainable economy?

When almost everything was subsidized no because we could afford it but just putting everything on debt and we keep piling the debt on.

If an individual was making 2m per year but spending 5million per year and keeps accumulating debt to finance the 5m lifestyle because everything must be soft for him. Will you call that a proper personal economy? What will you advice him.

At the time when his creditors now says it's enough and he has to live within his 2m a yr, life will definitely feel tough for him as he wont be able to afford his previous fake lifestyle anymore

this is what our parent made us believe that made us to be mentally imprisoned that without school 🏫🎒,one cant succeed..

This your take and some others I see above is not only archaic and phased out, but also evident of mental conditioning and enslavement, reeks of religion -esque..

There is nothing worse I hate in life than mental restrictment..

@ reecy , only you know your path, for me, once I'm not feeling a something, I jettison asap from that thing.. this is different from having some challenges on your field ..

If the school you re going is your passion and what you want to do, maybe you should soldier 🪖 on and weather the storm..
School is definitely not a scam, and the idea that it’s some form of mental imprisonment is just premium copium on your part . Education has been a tremendous advantage to many people I know, including myself.

While pursuing education is not a guarantee for success but neither is venturing into business, yahoo, football, music, forex trading etc.

In fact, when I was growing up, a lot of the guys I used to play football with gave up on school, hoping to make it big as professional footballers. Years later, the only one I personally know who made it big is Samuel Chukwueze.

The same can be said for aspiring musicians who never made it, or yahoo boys who never struck gold. There are no guarantees in any path you choose, but as I always say: it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

The part on him regretting it is because he's so close to completion, and remember he is contemplating dropping out due to momentary challenges and not to follow any passion.

There is a higher percentage of making it through school route than other routes

There is a higher percentage of sustaining your wealth or comfortable life as a middle class with school route that any other route

Music and Sports is actually one of the worst. Even if you have the talent, You have a very very small chance of making it into the big leagues and if you are lucky without injury, you stop making money by age 33. And you have to depend on what you made in those 10yrs for the rest of your 50yrs alive

Check out how many former footballers from Nigeria who were very good at least to play in Europe and wear national jersey wey dey struggle now in their 40s 50s and above

How many musicians wey dey reign 5yrs ago still dey reign now never mind 20yrs ago

Honestly, I never envisaged this situation. It is even more worse in reality than when told. I have my own share of blame sha. But I take solace in the fact that I never voted for anyone and never defend any of his policies.

Being a student compounds it. Guy still has a good solid year to do in the four wall of the class and I wonder how I'm going to survive. Woo, fi mile jare. Ah don taya.
The way ah dy now eh, ah no even know if I will be able to round up my program. It's just too pathetic and bad.

Godspeed bro.

Nigeria continues to borrow, and the growth in external debt isn't growing any less than it did during the PDP years.

PDP borrowed and we could say the standard of living was fair, APC has been borrowing, what do we have to show for it?

From Mathematics, today you borrow 10m next year you borrow 10 money every year you borrow 10m. By year 10, your debt will be heavier than in year 2 and your burden will be heavier. Because 100m debt plus interest accrued over the years will be heavier on you

As you borrow consistently without clearing your initial debts, your life will be getting worse because previous debts won't suddenly disappear

We borrow reach the point where we lacked credit worthiness and we have to pledge future earnings to service debts

True talk

Back in the day, I knew several guys I honestly thought were better than Chukwueze—his own brother included. There was this one guy we called Ogbos, and the things he could do with a football were unbelievable. Even now, I’ve never seen anyone, not even on TV, match his skill.

But success isn’t just about talent; it’s influenced by countless variables, many of which are beyond our control. When you compare it to ventures like sports or music, education offers a far more predictable path to success.

I’ve always followed Dave Ramsey, and recently, he and his team conducted a study on 10,167 millionaires in the U.S. The findings were clear: most millionaires had college degrees, and education does matter. Surprisingly, entrepreneurship and business didn’t even make the top ten, while music and sports ranked even lower. Medicine, which requires a degree, came in at sixth, with the top five professions all needing formal education.

These are empirical facts, not some “feelings and passion” wey Seankafor dey talk .

Like I’ve said before, there are no guarantees anywhere, but then,........ the numbers don’t lie!.

APC has borrowed more than PDP, and it's average debt increase per year is more than the PDPs... PDP government didn't get debt cancellation because of fine face or say dey Sabi smile, they got debt cancellation through superior foreign policy and overall governance.

This debt does not even include the money that the APC has been printing recklessly.
