Guys, have you recently switched to Starlink Residential in the Lagos area? How did you do it?

Did you sign up from the official site? If so, how long did you have to wait?

Did you use an address just outside the restricted area?

Or: are you on the roaming plan of ₦167,000/month?
That right there is the catch if you want to be placed on the residential plan. It's within 20+ km from a residential plan active area.

See the comment below for more clarity.

sonickay:
I live somewhere else within Lagos but not too far to Lotto Bus Stop, Ogun state about 25kms.

So, Starlink is at full capacity in my area and I was placed on a waiting list for 2025, I canceled that, started all over again.

But then, the closest area where there is coverage available is Lotto Bus stop, Ogu. State cos Lagos State is congested. So I used Lotto Bus Stop as Service Address and my home address as shipping address. It was shipped to my home address, I activated and logged in to my account and changed my service address to my home address.

At the point of placing your order, you will be asked for two addresses, Shipping Address and Service Address, so that's where you do the trick.

It's allowed.

You can't switch to residential in Lagos. You've to pay that 160k.
Just pray that by next month many on residential may leave starlink due to the price increase, then you may find space to sneak into residential

Hello everyone,
Please help us out with this current issue we have ongoing with our starlink device.

My Uncle procured the starlink device at about 3m from a 3rd party vendor without my knowledge and the vendor installed the device in his personal house. The vendor has been in charge of the subscription since June it was installed and charges him 80k monthly. When he mentioned it to me, I was curious on why everything was exorbitant and had to make my findings. What he procured was the standard starlink antenna and Gen 2 router.

Now I convinced him to tell the vendor to do a transfer of ownership so he can start managing the device himself and also ensure a smooth transition process.
He claims he has effected the cancellation from his own end but when I try to enter the starlink identifier I get this device is associated with another account.
He has sent a message to the vendor but no response yet.
How do I go about this as the current subscription ended yesterday and the internet service is currently restricted.

Either of two conditions have to be met before you can transfer a Starlink to another person.

1) It's been 120days since the purchase of the kit.

2) It's been 90days since the first activation of the kit.
Whichever one comes first.

You can only initiate the transfer from the Starlink account dashboard on the official site. Given that you don't have the account details, it's only the reseller that can do the transfer, or request the account details from him.

Thank you for your response. It’s been more 90 days since the first activation.
What account details am I requesting from him, please? So I can be specific when dealing with him.

The username and password of the Starlink account. However, I very much doubt he will give you this info.

The vendor had initially said something about operating a pool of starlink Devices and so he cannot release the username and password linked to the account. He then suggested removing us from the pool so we can manage the device going forward.

Note that this whole issue came up when I explained to my uncle the market price of the starlink device and the exorbitant amount he was charged both for the purchase and the monthly subscription.

With your experience what do you think is the way forward?
Or we would have to do it the rugged way which I’m trying to avoid.

First of all, Starlink has removed Nigeria from the list of countries that can add more than one Starlink kit to an account since last year. Unless he is paying for a global roaming plan for your kit using an account from another country that allows more than one kit to an account, then he is probably lying to you about your kit being in a pool, because global roaming is expensive everywhere.

To be honest, there's little to nothing you can do. Appeal to him to remove the kit from the account. If he doesn't know how to do it, he should contact Starlink support to assist him do it.

However, if you have your way of resolving it the rugged way, like you stated, I can't advise you not to do it.

That guy is a criminal I understand it's business and contract was agreed but 3m is way too much
Try the rugged way but make una no effect injury or harm him

Starlink has been quite fast and reliable, even with rains recently. Wonder if they made any upgrades to their Nigerian POPs. 🤔

What's your average throughput downlink speed at peak periods, like at this time of the day?

Wow.. Yours is much better. I guess Starlink has added more POPs in Lagos. Here's mine.

I read a fews back that Starlink was going to add more POPs in Lagos, PH and few other states, but Abuja wasn't among.

That’s probably true. Heard it was going to happen but didn’t think it’d happen before the end of this year.

Just ran another test, plus we don’t even have that clear of a sky today.

Really hope the ABJ situation improves too.

Guys, has Starlink paused the subscription price increase or is it a bug at my end?

I was debited 38k today, and when I previewed my next invoice, it's still 38k

It used to be fast until things went down south

If I were you, I would ask Starlink support to check my dishy, cable and router. The debug data you see on the app is not comprehensive enough. Even on the Starlink support side, sometimes they check and don't see everything, and would have to escalate the issue to a different department called TSA for comprehensive checks. Once TSA don't see anything, that's it, you are good. TSA is like the last bus stop for checks.

Have you tried it out, how much for it. I am looking for alternative to starlink, all this Nigerian ISP are giving very low Mbps and most of them are not unlimited.

Please check on the speed on this and let me know please
