TerraHaptix, a VC-backed robotics startup opens a 15,000-square-foot drone factory in Abuja to produce autonomous drones for the world’s core industries such as energy, logistics, agriculture, and mining. Founded by 22-year old Maxwell Maduka and 20-year old Nathan Nwachuku in 2023, TerraHaptix is an Nigerian robotics startup that designs, manufactures, and sells autonomous drones. The company develops everything in-house including the airframe, flight computers, firmware, powertrain, and the flight OS. The big mission of TerraHaptix is to transform the world’s core industries with drones. The new factory is capable of producing 10,000 drones annually, essentially making TerraHaptix Africa’s largest drone manufacturer. It includes a research and development lab, a 3D printing facility, a machine shop, and a manufacturing line to support production. They plan to start full operations in the factory by April 2024. Western drone companies lack the manufacturing capacity to compete with China due to fragmented supply chains, expensive labor, and high operating costs. TerraHaptix faces none of these issues with its plan to produce locally and sell globally. Located in Idu Industrial District, Abuja. The company plans to have the full lifecycle of design, development, prototyping, manufacturing and production in the same space which allows TerraHaptix to iterate and develop the technology incredibly fast. “This factory acquisition shows TerraHaptix’s intent as a serious strategic robotics company in Africa, and we can’t wait to commence the production of UAVs that will drive the technological revolution for core industries globally”- said Nnamdi Chife, CEO of TerraHaptix. The company plans to launch two product lines in the next four months: One is a long-range reconnaissance drone for commercial use. The other is a jet-powered attack drone for militaries across the globe. TerraHaptix’s family of systems is powered by Artemis OS, its AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, command and control centre. The 6-month old company has already closed major commercial contracts to supply its autonomous drones. With the fast-growing commercial drone market reaching $34B, TerraHaptix aims to produce 100,000 drones annually by 2030. I even think say when your article named the startup as "largest" for Africa means say na for drone production nor no say na space wey the company no dey use ![]() Isn't this the company that came online saying they would no longer stay in the defense sector cause dem no want blood for their hands?? How many drone units they produce monthly? Asking for someone |

preciouswoman66:How are you going to build the rotor and propeller , GPS ,sensors, radar, lidar ,controller,FPV camera ,Battery, monitor ,AntennaModule ,Receiver,Gimbal and ESC for drones . Are you building them from scratch or buying the kits . What operating system will you plan to use android or Windows or Linux the cost of Mac is not good for robotics. Linux is good because it is opensource. |

Alphabyte3:To me, what matters is the electronics. the outer are just what can be printed using 3D printer. I don't know whether CNC machines can do too but that's expensive sha And also, I'm also interested in large amount of units. For areas, in security, agriculture and maybe civil sector What I definitely know would be a road block is the electronics components but anyways I'm not a person who like reinvent things but would rather update or modify them. I'm also an advocate of opensource projects Another thing, is that most of these big companies kind of like get supplies from other companies too though they have their own unique "flavour" added to finished produced. So partnering with already existing company is also surest way to go instead of building everything from scratch |

Collaborating with established suppliers for some electronic parts can save both time and money to customize your product to suits your specifications .Some parts or components can easily be developed using 3d printer. You might be given a task to produce 1- 10k units and need to meet the demands . |

My new idea is to create a submarine drone that can smim and fly semi-autonomous powered by AI . It will be teleoperated for studying coral reef and surveillance it will have its own optical fiber communication to prevent jamming. It will also have a invisibility and cloaking system installed using the invisible sheet to camouflage to the environment. The water drone will be undetected by radar or sonar both on air or sea . The speed will be mach 1 . |

AmalaAtiEwedu:Wetin u think say the rest drone manufacturer dey do before?? U think say na everything dem dey build from scratch by Dem sef?? ![]() U think say DJI get monopoly for everything they use?? they have R& department as they're big but Dem still dey get supplies from other companies for some components Let me illustrate using software development field, Facebook devs create social media app and website. And migrating to AR/VR, AI and others. Facebook probably would make use some cloud providers like AWS, GCP and to do some of their tasks Facebook probably would use IDE like VS Code, Eclipse, etc. to write code Facebook probably might generate power themselves in addition to the one from the US government What about both cybersecurity and physical security? Facebook could have both in-house and outsource through bug bounty and others What about HR tool? They could use create their own HR tool or use popular ones in the market What about communication tool? They could create their own but I know they use tools like zoom, slack etc You no think say everything wey Facebook need to get their job done can be done by themselves without third party services and products?? So why they use them?? What I'm trying to say is that there's no shame in using third party tools in your own products or services. They solve the problem so you wouldn't reinvent the wheel If na so, all iphones company branch for China na assembler and we should laugh at them[China] ?? |

I go pluck ewedu leaf from Bimpe wey I d fvck family house backyard, I go buy plenty pepper from Iyawo seun... then I go come back come assemble Quality energy giving Amala and nutritious Ewedu to go with . ![]() |

Intel,AMD Nvidia rely on ASML or TSMC to create chips for their microprocessor. ASML is popular for creating EUV lithography machine . Liquid cooling of server and data center is done by another company. Arm is only good at chip design they sell them to clients based on custom design to Apple , Google and Microsoft. The research and development team work together to produce great computers. |

preciouswoman66:Absolutely nothing wrong! Don't let naysayers shake you. Buy the rotors, buy the flight controller, but the battery and the drone frame. Screw everything together. Grab your controller and fly your thing |
