Dangote has a valid claim if indeed NMDPRA is in violation of the new PIA act by issuing those licenses. Why must we continue to import just to enrich a few fat cats to the detriment of Nigerians?
The man needs to fight for his business before they cripple him. Let the Court decide.

Until dangote has the balls to tell Nigerians his pms price He is on his own. Nigerians will not fight for someone who can't be upfront, transparent and fair.

If the imported fuel will be cheaper then let him find buyers outside Nigeria for his fuel. He's too monopolistic. He's the architect of exorbitant price of cement in the country.

I agree with you that there should be competition but certainly not with these selfish importers. Their aim is to undercut and kill that refinery and then turn around to deal with Nigerians.
If they love their country so much why haven't these importers who have been fleecing us through subsidy all these years not been able to pool their resources to build a refinery?
Besides, Dangote has a right to go to court if he feels that NMDPRA has violated the PIA act by issuing licenses to these importers.
So how will competition kill a locally made product?

Nigerians don't learn.....That how they ban all foreign rice and many other produces in the name of they are 'killing local production' how did we fare?

The case of rice was very good, because we have many many local options or sources to buy from, in this case once Dangote kills import, he will be the sole supplier of petroleum product in Nigeria and you trust him that he is going to sell it to you at a fair price?

What mechanism will be in place to even determine what the fair price will be?

Since he is getting crude locally and in Naira, his focus would have been to undersell importers because he would not be exposed to their variableness rather than trying to ask a Court to invalidate their licenses.

I supported Dangote on this. If you want supply more petroleum products in Nigeria, build your own refinery in Nigeria and create jobs for Nigerians. Stop patronising foreign refineries.

That's always the end game.

He wants to monopolize it like he did with cement.

All the shalaye nonsense was to get petrol importation banned.

This is where Nigerian's energies is needed not all these useless social media rants . Those levies imposed are all putting pressure on the pump price. NNPCl should hands off from anything supply from the refinery. They seems not boarder about the hardship it may create in the people and the FG seems helpless to call them to other. Before they settle this another months of hardship will have gone ..... Awon oshiun

God bless him.
Which interest, he should allow for competitive pricing he can't strangle us with his price,.if the imported fuel is cheaper than they should import, Dangote is very greedy, how can you run to court to stop others from importing, we must buy from you, then give us a fair price

You don’t even need to advertise your business if it’s good and cheaper than what people can get elsewhere. Dangote can't thrive in a highly competitive market. People found it more convenient to import when they realized it was cheaper than buying from him. Remember, his business is private, not governmental, so no Nigerian directly benefits from the profits he makes. If we were still importing cement, we wouldn’t be buying it at the current price of ₦8,500. Remember, the Minister of Works once threatened Dangote that the government would start importing cement since it was cheaper than buying from him. Unfortunately, the minister was silenced, and nothing was said afterward.

Dangote is overstepping his boundaries with this action if there is verified shortfall in supply his refinery cannot meet. Nigeria having assured supply options, rather than total reliance on Dangote refinery, is best.

This is a valid point but the claim is that Dangote refinery's output cannot meet our daily national needs. With no working national refinery, no option but to import.

What should be in the thinking of the FG is the need to get at least one national refinery working optimally so Government can engage in sales of refined derivatives of crude as we need to shore up national income appreciably to have money to use in developing Nigeria.

Fossil fuel will be worthless in like 50 years so it is essential Nigeria gains profit from it, to be used developing itself, before demand tanks completely. A big challenge for Nigeria today is severe paucity of income. We need to earn substantially more from far more sources of national economic activities than is the case currently.

It's not about being cheap. The truth is that it will be suicidal to run an economy with monopoly and cartels. Sane countries do everything possible to discourage monopoly and cartels.

We pointed this out earlier but those wicked peeps who abhor this country called us names. They said that the refinery will be a game changer.
Thank you bro 👊🙏

Fighting for his business is by requiring an all-out ban on imports— kill the competition by way of banning imports? I don't agree at all! Dangote should instead woo buyers so they can come buy from him rather than consume imported PMS. This is like replacing one monster with another monster. E be like say this man no understand any other language other than monopoly. undecided
This is one of the best thing done by Dangote so far. Once this ban is enforced by the courts, you will see that all those our four refineries in Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna will start to work because their (the importers led by NNPCL & friends) source of fleecing the country through importation of crude products will be seriously depleted leaving them no choice than to either make our refineries work or to find other means of making money.

This man is stupid...you want government to ban importation of petroleum products, but you want to export to other countries.

Dangote is monopolistically evil... I will never forgive him for what him and emefiele did to the Nigerian economy between 2020 and 2023

This may just be your downfall because Tinubu never liked you in the first place.
I need you to watch out for yourself, sometimes hate can be cloud judgment.
