GboyegaD:People like have brain but you don't know how to use it. Are you wiser than the lawmakers who said that the status quo should be maintained until further notice? People like you shouldn't be allowed to near power |

The increments is outrageous, meanwhile upon that principals are still collecting all toiletries, which governor said he is paying for . Definitely all the money is not going for feeding let assume they are paying school fees. Kindly withdrawal the increments |

Jokerman:This is a boarding house. no private school boarding house will pay N100k. N100k cannot feed 1child for 3months. what I am telling you is in as much as the school is not for profit making, the school should be able to cover its running cost. If you have been to any of these model schools and see the standard you would know that the government is doing alot already. The 100k can't even feed these children let alone maintain the facilities.... |

Exousiang01:I know and understand. I have put a lot of pupils into these schools e.g Adelaja, Oriwu etc. However from 35K to 100k, thats too much.. very soon they will jump it straight up to 200k. If government can't subsidize for their citizens, what exactly are they doing then?? |
| Re: Lagos Assembly Intervenes In Model College Fee Hike As Parents Protest by Exousiang01(m): 8:23am On Oct 22, 2024 |
Jokerman:At 100k it is already highly subsidized. Are you looking into the cost of running these schools at all? This is just feeding alone that I have been talking about, N100k cannot feed 1 child for a term. If those children are at home their parents would spend more than N100k on their feeding in a term. Should we talk about the cost of power? Paying distribution companies and buying diesel? that alone is another huge chunk of money. Running the school is still another issue. I am not talking about staff salary. You can't run any organization like that. you will run it to the ground. You are looking at this from the angle of a parent you are not seeing it from the angle of administration |

It is only in Nigeria that the government and the people will wake to raise fees anyhow. The issue is not the 100k but why raise the fees from 35k to 100k. Why not shift from 35k to 50k first. How many years has the negotiations to increase minimum wages lasted. And after the endless negotiations, what percentage are the workers getting? All these can only happen in Nigeria and so people would be supporting blindly. |

Exousiang01:So what are Lagosians benefitting from the Government? If they cannot even benefit in Education? 35k to 100k is still too much... At least 50K for now... Very soon it will go from 100k to 200k... No be government again? Moreover, they are all APC , both at federal and state. |

Jokerman:At N100k it is still highly subsidized sir. like I said you are not talking from the angle of a manager or the angle of an administrator. you are looking at this from the lens of a parent. I have 4 sons and I will be getting set to spend not less than N1. 7m on school fees again come January. I will still need to change this and that. It won't cost less than another N500k just to get them ready for the new term. Let's not talk about the food they eat each day. The school bus is too expensive and I would have to pay per head for each person so I have a deal with the guy that drives my Uber, he takes them to school and brings them back, I in return have cut down his weekly delivery. Now extracurricular activities like swimming lessons, chess lessons, football and basket ball lessons, piano lessons have not been added to this list.... I spend this much just to give them a similar education they would get in a model school because I know model schools for hood quality education. Now know how expensive quality education is don't you think that N100k is a very fair amount to pay for government to take you child off your hands, feed and accommodate and educate that child for 3 whole months?? Be rational sir, I think your take on this is birthed out of emotions and not logic |

I spent more than that enrolling my daughter in SS1, I only said that before people who knows nothing about the school begin to quote me Jokerman: |

Exousiang01:😂 I understand... However it's the same APC that causes all these now, now they put the burden of parents that do not make much in this economy. |

We all know that 100k is barely enough to feed a growing child three times a day for 3 months. The government is subsidising by granting free accommodation, provision and maintenance of facilities, and the payment of teachers and other staff. The parents have a choice of putting their children in day public schools so they can make some savings if possible. |

maasoap:Unfortunately, I am not moved my your sentiments. We have destroyed the fabrics of the nation enough by holding into unnecessary sentiments. Model schools are attended by choice. They are admitted based on a different exam than the regular Lagos State exams that admits students into the regular Lagos state schools. If you think Model Colleges have the needed standards you want, then pay for it. There's no free lunch even in Freetown. |

Eagleways:You can comment without insult. I have friends and families that their wards are attending Model Colleges in Lagos. And none of them can feed their wards with N1,000 per day. So 100,000 to feed an adolescent in this economy is not bad. I personal scolded one them few weeks ago when raised the issue while discussing. Mind you most of them are ready to pay 50,000 monthly meal support to corrupt school officials. Why can't they pay 100k and insist of good meals. Meanwhile 99% of parents have paid the new hostel levies. Those still behind the protest were people benefiting from the inadequacy. |

Exousiang01:You ended up confusing yourself. Running costs are incurred by the government as part of their social responsibility. We have public schools, hospitals globally not just in Nigeria. Government bears the cost for social benefits of the people. Here in Nigeria, government is wasting money on irrelevant expenses yet you want them to pass on their basic responsibilities to the citizens. 🙄🙄 If you're truly educated as you claim, something is wrong. |

| Re: Lagos Assembly Intervenes In Model College Fee Hike As Parents Protest by Exousiang01(m): 5:08pm On Oct 22, 2024 |
gammarays:It's not profit based. Government bears the running cost yet citizens pay for the hospitals globally. I believe the money is thrown into trash cans.... If the government bears the running cost and they are not for profit generation why do people still pay for the services. I don't think you listened to yourself. yet you question other people's education. Come to UK and just walk into any hospital and get treated for free because government bears the running cost let's see. If you have stepped out of your local government you would know better. |

Exousiang01:I no get your time. I schooled in a federal government college know as Unity schools. What we pay for fees is just basic needs like feeding, books etc. Tuition fees was not included so we paid lesser than others. If you visit government hospitals, they pay fees but it's cheaper compared to private hospitals. In other countries globally, tuition fees for public institutions are cheaper than private institutions. |

gammarays:Look how you just fooled your self... My main point from the start was that the N100k cannot even feed a child for 3months right now and you are even adding other things to it. If we are to go by what you just wrote you can see that you are a block head.... put what you just wrote there Feeding, books etc. ask you empty skull if N100k can cover those for 3 months. Tuition fee has always been free... You just opened your mouth waaaa to trash talk from an empty skull. |

I still see some of those hostel kids roaming around the area, their parents are still waiting on the government to bring down the fees. Those parents should ask themselves this, will they spend 35k to feed their child 3 times a day for 3 months? They need to find a middle ground with the government, that 35k fees no be am at all. |
