If there is any country in the world that needs these types of innovation it is China and India. This is a necessity for them. You need every technology to make the lives of 1.4 billion people worthwhile. You need all kinds of transportation for that vast population. Traditional means of transportation would be insufficient so I understand their motivation.

However, there would be less motivation to embark on these expensive ventures in the west. The cost benefit analysis shows it isn't profitable. An average American still prefers his gas guzzling cars than public transportation and their population is not large enough to offset the cost like China. Except it is for show off I don't see how these expensive technologies make sense for countries outside China and India from a cost benefit perspective.

dude just shutup, u speak like a kid... What has the noble prize got to do with technological advancement of a nation.. First of all, the Nobel prize is an individual award.. Secondary for over a century now there haven't been any ground breaking discovery in terms of technological that can make u compare the prizes won in the days of Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and other notable scientists...this scientist have laid the foundation for any new discoveries that u see now, so few ppl today making theoretical discoveries has no relevance in the technological world, what do somebody want to invent now that has not been invented before or "almost invented"... The Chinese used to have their roads filled with BICYCLES in the 1970s and 80s. Vehicle imports were banned.

USA don’t have any technology to showcase apart from Military technology.
When it comes to civilian infrastructures right now, the Chinese, Korea and Japan are the best then followed by Germans

I think China is very well positioned to become the next world power. They have everything required and no regards for religion.

Look at other countries that had their independence close to when we did and see how far they have progressed
