They have started with nonsense!
In 1985 I got admission to study piloting in the US but I couldn't go because of tuition fee, the total was $12,000 which was =N= 60,000 at =N=5 to $1. That was a lot of money, my family raised=N=28,000 but we couldn't raise the rest.
Whoever post this can go back to 1985.

APC will tell the story of petrol price in Europe. But will not tell the hourly income of an average European labourer.

Tilumbu and his APC started since 2015 to drag most of Nigeria's population to become Ba mi Allah beggars.
Nigeria's voters rejected APC in 2019 presidential election. APC stole the election through the Mahmood Yakubu it planted as INEC Chairman.
Again in 2023, Nigeria's voters rejected APC at presidential votes. But Mahmood Yakubu bent down and licked his vomit by disbanding the electronic vote collation system he had earlier sworn must be used for the 2023 election.

NIGERIANS lived a much better life under the military era.
Education, Health, Security, Economy just name it.
Many of the major refinery's and projects including the Iconic third mainland bridge, NNPC towers, Aso Rock Villa, 2ND Niger Bridge General Hospitals etc. in Nigeria that stood the test of time were built by the military government.
And the construction of many of this projects mentioned above were completed timely.
The military literally turned Abuja filled with bushes and forests into a construction site.
No matter how we deny it, history never lies...almost all infrastructures in Nigeria were built by the military.
Democracy is good.
But in the case of Nigeria, our democracy have caused us more harm than good.
Maybe Nigerians are just not civilised for democracy.

Nigerian military government was terrible relative to the country's material wealth, but in contrast to Nigeria's experience with democracy, it has been an unmitigated failure.

How many Nigerians can afford that amount to buy fuel then. When cement was selling for 600 how many Nigerians can buy it now is selling for over 8k and people buy it more than when it was 600. Nothing is coming down hustle hard to double your earnings.

Stop lying, petrol in the Us in the 80s was less than a dollar, it's almost 5dollars now.

Average rent was around $200-$500 In the 80s now its $1700-$2500.

By the time you take a look at the exchange rate and minimum wage, you will find out is not cheap. But the pace at which the naira is losing value and how cost of living is rising is so scary.
Oga minimum wage as in basic salary without housing and transportation as at that time was ₦125, for level 04 step 1. Asaba to Lagos was ₦5.00, same as Agbor to Kano. By luxurious bus.

EyeCumInPiece:
1985 = ₦5 per litre
2024 = ₦5x200 =₦1k per litre

So unless we do something...
2063 = ₦1kx200 =₦200k per litre grin

Anybody doubting this, would have also doubted in 1985 that fuel would rise to ₦1k in 2024. grin
is actually 20k per liter,
The receipt shows 25liters cost #5

The question you should ask yourself is has there been anytime things are good. Have known Nigerians to groan. for more than 3 decades now I grew up to see many Nigerians struggling stop making looks like it start now. We all lamenting now because we now pay bills in real sense of it it was not easy for our parents also. When rice was 8k per bag how many household can afford even half bag of it at once ?

N5 was a lot then, coke was like 50kobo, egg was 30kobo. You could buy food with kobo back in the days.
Stop saying nonsense
Minimum wage was more than ₦100 then.
That means the minimum wage then can buy UP TO 500 LITERS.
TODAY, EVEN IF MINIMUM WAGE US 200K, IT CAN'T BUY YOU 200 LITRES.

To the people that bought petrol in 1985 it would have been expensive too. This is why you have to understand what Tinubu is trying to do today.

In the next 39 years, people would also do a throwback and see that petrol was sold N1,000/littre today and they'll think that we were lucky.

The future generation would find whatever pricing they have as natural. They won't know what we went through today.

In 1985 what was the minimum wage compared to the price of petrol?

What was the unemployment rate then versus now?

It's cheaper

Minimum wage then was ₦125
Nope. It was @300 naira. Even at that, you could pay your rent, pay your children’s school fees, buy enough food for your house, buy enough beer and paper soup, including enjoying with your side chick.
You would but 12 tubers of yams at 10 naira. You would buy one tin of garri at 4 naira. A bag of rice was at 38 naira and by the way the dollar was at 70 kobo that year.

You can easily verify all!

why do people post things like this, was minimum wage N70K a month in 1985? A professor or a perm sec did not earn N14k in a whole year in 1985 so what exactly is the point of posting petrol from 1985?
1985 minimum wage was 125 naira.
125/0.2 = 625 litres.
70000/1000 =70 litres.
