at N350 he can afford a 700k annual if he saves N65,000 towards it every month

We don't know if he's married or single with alot of responsibilities. Truth is 350 k currently in nigeria is chicken change if he's living in the west east or south .
But in the north that 350k will go a very long way.
May God not allow us to be working just to feed landlords.

Your annual rent should not be more than your 2 months salary, for any wise person

That was the analogy of old(pre Tinubu), now if your rent is equivalent to two months salary,looking at the current inflation I think you'll have to fast for most part of the year unless you have a business.

How can someone earning 100k will rent an apartment of 600k?
Personally, we arranged a kind of contribution amongst our coworkers and the rest is history!

On a rent of 650k to 800k your salary should be minimum 150k to 260k per month with an additional 20k for each household person.

A family of 4 the joint salary should be 210k to310k

Bro it depends on location. House is costly everywhere now. To get a better self contained in lagos is around 600k to 1 million total package

Very delicate matter considering the economy that everything went up and salaries stayed put.
In my case, it used to be like 5mths, then later 3mths,.
It further went down to 1mth and then ultimately 1 week and 3 days of pay.
And make no mistake, the rent i speak of were in millions of naira
The rest is history.

1. How can someone earning #100k - that is #1.2m per annum be paying rent of #650 - 800k? That's a mismatch.

2. Your rent shouldn't take more than 15 - 20% of your income.

3. Don't wait until payment period is very close before saving.

4. If your rent is as high as you stated either you change your accommodation to what you can afford or you diversify your sources of income.

5 At the earliest opportunity start planning on how to own your own property. Start small - half or quarter plot. Remote places where land is cheap. Is it possible? Yes. If the Yoruba mama that sells pepper can use ajor to do it you can also.

Lets keep acting dumb like we don’t know house rent has increased by 200-300% recently. People earning 100-200k and renting house for 400k have found their house rent increased to 900k and don’t know what to do.
