NN over to you.

The Aradu ought to to be totally replaced, not refurbished. This is a modern 127m & 3,400t! Larger than the Aradu!

And since we have the LST covered by Damen that is building our 2nd LST, the money could be used for two frigates!

The NNS Thunder & Okpabana have served about 10yrs and considering their age before they were handed, this is a prime asset to get.
90m, 2200t Ocean going OPVs!

These are heavier than the P18Ns we got from China and larger than the pair we are getting from Dearsan.

NIGERIAN ARMY PULLS OUT 15 RETIRED ARTILLERY CORPS GENERALS

The Nigerian Army (NA) formally pulled out 15 retired generals from the Artillery Corps on Saturday, October 19, 2024, during a ceremony at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA) in Kachia, Kaduna State. The group of retirees included 11 Major Generals and 4 Brigadier Generals.

Maj Gen James Myam (rtd), speaking on behalf of the retired officers during the pulling-out parade, reflected on their long military careers, expressing fulfillment and gratitude. He attributed their success to divine grace, acknowledging God's protection throughout their years of service. He also extended his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, wishing him continued strength and wisdom in his leadership of the NA.
Looking back, Maj Gen Myam recalled the beginning of their military journeys when they reported to the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna as Officer Cadets. He offered advice to the officers still in service, urging them to remain loyal to the Constitution and the democratically elected government, while maintaining vigilance and security consciousness.

The retired general also expressed gratitude to the families, spouses, friends, instructors, and mentors who supported them throughout their careers. The event was attended by several senior retired and serving military officers, including former Chief of Army Staff, Maj Gen Alwali Kazir (rtd).

CLAIMS OF INSURGENTS TAKING OVER NIGERIAN MILITARY TRAINING CAMP IN NIGER STATE, UNTRUE

The Nigerian Army is aware of the vicious insinuations circulating in the media , alleging that insurgents have taken over a Military Training Area in Kontagora, Niger State. We acknowledge the palpable unease this baseless claim may have stirred within the Kontagora and Mariga communities, as well as Niger State as a whole. However, we wish to clarify that no credible threat exists in those areas as being peddled, contrary to the information presented by Honourable Abdullahi Isah, representing the Kontagora II Constituency on the floor of the Niger State House of Assembly on 28 October 2024.

Reports purporting an invasion of the military training area by alleged bandits and the subsequent displacement of residents from 23 communities across Kontagora and Mariga are not only untrue, but are utterly misleading and harmful, as it appears calculated to incite unnecessary panic in the neighbourhood. A thorough investigation by our intelligence unit confirmed that the individuals observed in the area were herders seeking grazing grounds for their herds. No malicious intent was detected, and no hostile actions were observed.

While we appreciate the vigilance of the communities and the honourable member's commitment to the safety of the people he represents, we strongly urge all concerned parties to approach such matters with caution and verify information through official channels, in this case, the Nigerian Army. Undoubtedly, misinformation of this nature has the potential to spread unwarranted fear, engender panic, misdirect valuable resources away from real security priorities, and ultimately aggravate the security situation.

Our training areas remain secured, fortified, and designed to swiftly neutralize any security threat. The Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of our host communities and Nigerians in general.
