Procashtips:International trade benefits, I guess. You don't have be a BRICS member to be a friend to BRICS nations and be treated as such. |

lanre316:You do not need to enter into an alliance to trade with anyone. Alot of countries that are anti-Russia are still trading with Russia, so there should be more visible benefits to this alliance. |

Olatunji1929:During the heights of the Boko haram insurgency Nigeria went to the US and Israel to supply them weapons to fight Boko haram, both Isreal and the US declined, Nigeria now went to Russia who opened their arms and supply us with heavy weapons of war temper, and it was those weapons that were used to reduced Boko haram activities to an understandable level. Judging from the above Nigeria has realized who it's friends really are, and by becoming a partner to BRICS is it's way of demonstrating just that. |

mysticwarrior:I know that but since Govt of apc came to power Nigeria have been slaving for western countries and they don't hid it,Nigeria govt is not showing any interest in joining Brics, BRICS should only accommodate those who are willing to join not a saboteur like Nigeria, Nigeria govt won't think twice before betraying BRICS for the West |

Thank God someone other than me gets it. After USA refused to sell weapons to Nigeria, the USA said "in Nigeria, boko haram is not the problem". The USA even refused to put boko haram in its list of international terrorists claiming that doing so would make boko haram stronger, it took a lot of time and attacks on western interests by boko haram before the USA labeled it a terrorist organisation. I even saw CNN journalists saying after the baga massacre that "Nigeria is a black nation so it doesn't matter when such things happen and the USA won't intervene to help, but it would be different if it were a white country". While all this was ongoing, Nigeria and good luck Jonathan were siding with the USA against Russia at the UN. Then after the USA had agreed to sell weapons to Nigeria and has taken the money and given a delay of several months for delivery, the USA postponed the delivery date and then finally the USA refused to deliver the weapons and kept the money 🤑 Also I shall add that the USA had trained some Nigerian soldiers specifically with the same types of USA weapons which the USA refused to deliver after the training, that made those soldiers totally useless and the soldiers even refused to enter the battlefield due to "not having adequate equipment". So the money Nigeria paid for that training was also wasted... Olatunji1929: |

Then Jonathan finally decided to buy from Russia, and Russia opened a line of credit for Nigeria and started sending the weapons quickly, even Ukraine sold some second hand weapons to Nigeria, but the most important weapons came from Russia and all new equipment came from Russia also most of the weapons overall came from Russia. Let's not forget that China also sold weapons including drones and brand new mraps to Nigeria. After that Nigeria went ahead and backstabbed Russia at the UN again. Then buhari took over and came up with the "wishlist" and shunned Russia while wishing for American weapons which would never be delivered 😂 except for some second hand and disarmed mraps (which would require being refitted) and super tucanos. Most of the weapons Buhari got during his tenure were Russian weapons bought by Jonathan under credit which were delivered in Buhari's wishlist tenure... There is a pattern, Nigeria wants to please America, but when Nigeria is in need, America says fvck you to Nigeria, then Nigeria remembers that Russia and China do exist, then Russia and China help Nigeria, then Nigeria says fvck you to Russia and China and begs the USA to be its friend... |

I realised that when bad things happen in Nigeria, diasporans cry as if it were happening to them, but when bad things happen to diasporans, I see Nigerian social media filled with people celebrating 🥳 it. I realized this a long time ago. |

In the niger/ecomog clash, president Tinubu was acting tough against Russia with lots of warnings. I wonder if he finally took the time to look at the Nigerian military inventory, then he would have noticed that most Nigerian military weapons have a Russian accent. |

Nigeria (whichever government) sees the USA as heaven. If I were advising Brics, I wouldn't hesitate before telling them to shun Nigeria completely. Procashtips: |

Olatunji1929:Naa. You still don't know. We have been patronizing the Russians from the latter days of Jonathan's tenure and throughout that of Buhari. It's only this Tinubu I'm not sure of. Last I checked, Buhari's time was also APC. |

Ghostagain:Half truths here. Buhari also bought weapons from the Russians outside the ones Jonathan paid for. Kindly expand your research on this, there are numerous sources on this. https://www.cfr.org/blog/nigeria-and-russia-sign-military-cooperation-agreement https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2018-04-04/nigeria-s-buhari-approves-1-billion-for-weapons-purchase https://www.newsweek.com/nigeria-buys-military-aircraft-russia-pakistan-us-demurs-528344 https://dailytrust.com/buhari-weapons-from-russia-ukraine-war-now-coming-to-africa/ |

Nigerians are bad at history, even recent history 😓 Procashtips:Thanks for the links but, some of those weapons were purchased by Jonathan. And the 1 billion dollar payment might actually be for payment of weapons purchased by Jonathan because they were bought on credit. I also didn't say Buhari didn't buy weapons from Russia, I said that most weapons he received during his tenure were Russian weapons bought by Jonathan. |

Ghostagain:I wouldn't trust Nigeria in BRICS under this current govt. If it was Abacha's tenure, then I'd 100% trust Nigeria. Abacha was the only Nigerian leader that showed the west the middle finger in his 5 years rule. |

Ghostagain:It did. You claimed most weapons Buhari got from Russia was paid for by Jonathan. Mind listing as least 3 references to this? Jonathan was there for 5 years and suddenly woke up few months to the end of his tenure to buy from Russia. I wouldn't credit him for such, made no sense. It was in 2014 (3rd quarter) he realised he needed to get weapons from outside the west after wasting 4 good years. Now check the references I posted and read through, none were said to be deliveries of previously paid for weapons. So kindly send us references to weapons delivered to Buhari that Jonathan paid for. (That qualifies as MOST) |
