Good day Nairaland family I have been a guest on this educative platform for over two years I created an account to seek advice from matured minds and well educated individuals. I would love to know if it’s embarrassing or rather inappropriate to go back to a previous job , it’s been four years since I left the job and resigned but I still maintained a good relationship with the management… we communicate from time to time Life can be unpredictable and things are not going as planned and as a struggling young man I need to survive one way or the other i would really love your inputs and advice on this issue Thanks and God bless 6 Likes 1 Share |

NoMoreGuest:It happens. It depends on how you left. If the company is a big one, and you left on good terms with the management. You can still go back especially if where you are now is worst off than the company you left. However, you must have added a skill or two and gained more experience. This is important because when you go back, the company must see you as a wonderful addition, and not a "fill-up". Only thing that is constant is change You re free to go back to a company you have resigned. This is because you have good relationship with management. I have done this on several occasions and I have never regretted my action. However be ready to add value to the company. And be ready to be less confrontational, be submissive and diligent. If you left the job out of your will (there must be a reason why you had to leave), going back after four years may create an impression that you didn't make any progress, in the last four years and this will likely lead to see finish. I don't care if you have good relationship with them... For your sanity sake please don't go back.. I have been in your shoes before. I went back to my old place of work after three years, the feeling was like am stagnant in life. I have to quit after 5month.. Though the job I got later wasn't paying me like my former place... But I feel a inner satisfaction. In the process of working there, I got connected to a bigger job, after just only two months there. It depends on how and why you left the place in the first place. If you left with mutual understanding which I believe you did since you and the management are still in good talking terms. Which means they missed your impact and would love to have you back. But if you left due to anger or disagreement, it'll be wrong to go back. You go collect. If the position they're offering you now is higher than what you left, take he job. After all, you don't have a job now and hunger is by the corner. I have left a company before and returned to a higher position with over 15 of my former colleagues under my leadership. Since you do t have a job now, go and take the job and ensure you do better this time by making the management understand that you actually have value to add to them 7 Likes |

Oga/madam, if you don't have any other source of income, you can go and apply at your office. All these people chanting 'forward ever backward never' will not put one naira into your account, they will not put food on your table. It is disastrous to be unemployed in this present economy. If you were earning 100k and you got a better one of 250k so far you left the company on good terms and still maintained good and constant communication. And you have lost that of 250k... My brother, in Nigeria once you resign, move on. If they cajole you to stay, they just want you to lose your new job. Two or three months on, they get someone to understudy whatever makes you tick. Thereafter, they will ditch you. In your own case, you left 4 years ago. Ask yourself did the company fold up after you left? Has your former position been vacant? If you were sacked and called back, then yes. But if you resigned, then hell no! After four years? Na shege pro max you go see from your former boss and colleagues because they will see it as your last hope.
