Public transport of the kind you want costs money.

A lot of cities in the UK have good public transport systems, and to pay for them, they pay something called council tax, which last i checked was somewhere around the region of 200 pounds per month, if not more. London's own is scary.

Look at Lagos. On top of having the highest tax revenue in nigeria, and oil allocation, it has taken them 14 years to complete two out of a proposed seven metro lines. 14 years.

If Lagos charged every Lagosian the equivalent of 200 pounds per month, they would have finished it immediately. But it would have led to cries of 'we are poor; so....

If we wanted to give every Nigerian capital a metro like Lagos, it would probably eat most of our budget. Where are we going to pay for the other things.

Back to the UK, the scary thing is their metro is not free. If you are under a certain age, you get a discount....but on other hand.

This is ridiculous.

You get what you pay for.

A good metro system would eat something like 29 million dollars PER KILOMETER. equivalent. Now you know why it took Lagos 15 years to build 2 out of 7 metro lines, and they are using second hand carriages and trains self.

I know some of you think I am defending the government, but a metro system costs money. Big money.

Ganduje of Kano wanted to build a metro in Kano. He did feasability study. BY the time he presented the cost to the Kano State Assembly, they were so horrified by the cost implications that they rejected his plan for the metro immediately. Remember this is a state assembly that at the time was packed with his yes men.

Let's even not forget about the Port Harcourt Metro....it ain't corruption that caused it to be abandoned. Cost too much.

Yes but since we are getting into the nitty gritty, the VW V5 is not a true V layout Engine as its a stagard V ie hybrid btw a V and an inline Engine. If you do your research well you will get what I am saying, I decided not to delve into it cos people who are not mechanical savvy wont get it.if you not it was introduced by VW and its actually a VR5.

₦40k...and it's because I use the AC throughout most times...plus the fuel doesn't finish in a week.

Other times, I dey manage am. Sometimes, I wind up comeout of area reach express then off AC too when I am broke to save more fuel.

The week I didn't use the AC at all.., the fuel no gree finish.

I drive Honda Accord 2009 V6 engine. I don't have any Check Engine Light indicator on the dashboard, which means every component on the car works perfectly, this further means my fuel trim and efficiency is at its peak.

My place of work is 22kms to and fro, then another 20 kms on Saturdays for a visit to my family house, that's about 130 kms per week. I actually spend N15,000 (12.5 ltrs) per week to fuel the car to do all of this. If I go by this, I spend N60,000 (50 ltrs) per month on fuel to go to work and a visit to family house every Saturday.

Lovely analysis, I have the same distance as you do to work place, but I'm scared of other unseen expenses a car might consume, why I'm scared to buy any car right now.

Planning to take a 3m loan to add up to about 2m to buy a Honda Civic 07 model. Was considering a BMW x3 2006 model before sha.

Abeg advice me.

Don't do it, you don't intend to use the car to make money (Uber etc), you intend to buy just to move around, things will always need fixing, parts get bad (normal wear and tear), they cost money to fix, engine oils and trans oils aren't so cheap, fuel also isn't, and you'll fall into serious depression and frustration should you be unlucky to even buy a car with engine/trans issues which will need expensive repair.
Currently, you need a loan to buy, have it in mind that a car is like a child, one with a huge appetite and can't warn you before it falls sick and needs surgery, thus you must have money at all times to take care of this, all of this combined with your daily expense (food and or yearly rent), family upkeep if you have one, and then servicing the loan, will be too much for you, you might end up parking the car and not using it, or driving it and not eating well like you used to.

My brother you just spilled out my mind here meen. I calculated it well yesterday and realize sey my car go dey chop better while I hunger make me grow lean like an HIV px.

I decided to rather do business with the money if I ever decide on getting a loan or even build a solid Solar project sf, if NEPA continues their madness

I use like 20k per week, drive to my children school leave the car there, take 700 okada to work, repeat at close of work, return to pick the children and we head back home...anywhere else na okada or trekking I can't be spending half of my salary on fuel ,yet I see some Co workers bringing car to work daily, I wonder how they do it...abi no be the same office we dey?

Their car might be fuel efficient, my guy car uses 6L per 100km, while mine uses 40L per 100km......we uses same exact car, I have done literally everything to lower the fuel consumption but no difference, so I dey drive am like that.


Where I would go with 40k fuel my guy just need to buy 6k fuel to go that exact location, what an irony.
