IbeOkehie:Sir, please do you have any resources/pointer to the above. Your continuous repetition of it has made me curious to want to read about it. What I got from Google search is not yielding much; just some few paragraphs in Wikipedia and some site; nothing detailed. |

You could be driving for companies who want u to move cash, companies that need u to deliver office files, goods etc with official office car or van and u need manual driving licence for this roles. You could work as a site emergency respondant. You can work as warfare check on site etc.. Basic requirements for all this jobs are car. Mobile response officer Pay might be poor.. 11.44 but u could do 60hrs in a week thats 2700+ before tax. As a new comma car is neccessary for immediate start of getting job maybe u came through skill visa that's another lane. Am talking of students n dependant who comes with job hunting as soon as possible |

fullclub:You didn't know what you write. You are not the only naija in uk. Stop capping I didn't drag not having a car with you, just letting you know why some chose not to have one 2. And that you can drive with uk automatic driving license cos your post was all about manual |

tommy589:Yes. I have already read through the two link you posted but can't really infer much. The wiki link only highlighted the delegate abi na those who represented various region in the meeting. Then the second link is a reported opinion about secession from azikiwe. Then, if you have been following ibeokehie for a while, I don't think you would be able to infer anything from the two link based on how he has mentioned the Lancaster House conference stuff in various context. |

Gerrard59: MT:Countries tailor their economy to work for the benefit of its indigenes or at worse its citizens.. Nigeria is a location on the world map named by the B:ritish and it consists of at least 7 different countries with different economies in other words there is no ethnicity known as Nigerians and the SW economy is different from the NW economy which is different from the SE economy which is also different from the SS economy.. All 36 states and the FCT are different economies.. Do not use Lagos or the SW economy to judge the lives and economic situation of people living in the NW or SE or SS or anywhere else outside SW Nigeria. SW is built and tailored to work for the benefit of Yoruba people. SS is tailored to work for the benefit of Binis, ijaws, igbos, Efik and other indigenes. SE is tailored to work for the benefit of igbos. e.t.c.. so when you say people are " Making it in Nigeria ".. be specific about the state or region in Nigeria where they are " making it " because it is not the reality of all Nigerians.. |

femi4:The OP is more than right on the big advantage of having a driver`s licence and knowing how to drive as a new comer into the UK, it aids you in getting a job more quickly and easily. Although you may need to study and master UK`s Right Hand driving environment for a while so that you don`t get into unexpected problems as a newbee in a new environment. |

lastkingsman:yet their looking down on other countries. Nigeria GDP per capita is less than Ethiopia and Angola. Our human development is less than Zimbabwe. If you have opportunity to leave Nigeria to Benin republic, or Togo or Ghana flee without looking back. Don't let a yone fool you. The day of doom in Nigeria is very close. Itll soon become the worst country in earth |

Gerrard59:That comment on memoirs-chile original post should have been a post on its own because it is packed with loads of info, I'm just seeing it for the first time and I have a question. So which area of tech did you eventually opt for, I see that you avoided Cyber Security (Thanks to your friend). It's a career path that is highly spoken of online but can waste your time so much in reality. I advice everyone to run from it too as it requires tons of certifications to even have a decent job. |
| Re: My Experience In UK Since I Japa:warning Rejoinder by Gerrard59(m): 3:27pm On Oct 27, 2024 |
tosinhtml:I left tech entirely as it wasn't part of my aspirations in this country and the wider region. I only envisaged it as it is the easiest path to a good job without having to know or speak Japanese. Instead, I focused on improving my Japanese and utilising my academic degree (science research oriented) and experience from Nigeria (sales/consulting) to get a job. I got two offers: one based on my academic degree and the other based on my previous Nigerian work experience. The latter offer came before the former as I went for the final interview after I had signed the earlier offer. Got the academic degree-inclined offer, but later declined it. Improving my Japanese was the masterstroke as I left it quite late to commence job hunting. Thanks to Tensa20 who woke me up with the sentence "If you don't start job hunting on time, your visa will expire. Then see you, see Tinubu". And yes, while cybersecurity is a good and highly lucrative field, it requires time and expensive certifications. It is a sub-field tech bros can later switch to cement job security, but it isn't too favourable for a tyro. Also, the most lucrative aspects have security clearance such that only citizens are desired. But it is a sub-field that pays very high here with limited competition. With those certifications, any cybersecurity professional would be so spoilt for jobs. |
Yes. I already narrated my job-hunting experience here: https://www.nairaland.com/7788707/memoirs-chile/49#130041370 As for migrating to Japan, there is already a semi-active thread. Anyone interested should read from the beginning and ask specific questions and I would be glad to respond to the best of my knowledge: https://www.nairaland.com/2655545/japanese-visa-travelling-japan/40
|
