We don’t have natural disasters in this country , but we have man made disasters 🤦♂️ A chopper that was scrapped in 2018 in Canada ends up carrying NNPC officials in 2024 in Nigeria leading to a fatal crash. I would be seriously surprised if heads roll for this avoidable tragedy.

Theflint1:Don’t take my post out of context please 🙏. I didn’t say that in isolation before some unreasonable people will come now and say I’m making excuse for DV . I literally gave a context to my post . Nigeria is a country where things are not done right. Nigeria is a country where pastors and family members urge an abused woman to mend fences of her home and not lose her home over allegations of cheating and the husband “asserting his authority with one or two slaps “. I am not in any way condoning what the man did , I’m only telling you that some of the people that will likely employ her in the future have a lot of skeleton in their cupboards and wouldn’t want to employ a woman they know is willing to build a case with evidence against them if they ever cross the line . That’s why I said she will surely get jobs in any company that observes global best practices at each point in time. But a company headed by some of our naija CEOs will find a way to avoid employing her . |

Theflint1:for corporate nigeria, reporting is snitching - because 9 times out of 10, everybody hand dey there or has dey there i saw the equivalent when one office bully in my department was finally reported. we were all called in to be interviewed when i went for the interview one of the people i saw was a person who could somehow pass information back to the person reported i sha went for it and dropped all the info i could at the end of the day the person reported held his seat, and the person who did the reporting was victimized and everyone watched it happen. i even heard that one oga at the top was berating our HOD for having people that reported. i saw a case where an oga was engaging in fraud/diversion and expected those under her to sort it out. her direct report was sacked for nonperformance. the direct eport's replacement was in the same predicament, but played a long game of using third parties to report the oga. even then, management still quashed it. it was because we had a new oyibo oga who had not been nigerianized that the matter finally got traction. no company wanst negative attention. i am sure you remeber teh case of it shall not be well with them imokuede. when it came out everyone called AIG out, mocked him. the man took the L and went and fortified company email and data protection. and all other naija corps did the same thing. also, AIG fished out the person who leaked the email and had the person sacked. i am saying - companies cover up all sorts of nasty shit all the time companies want people who only pay lip service to the alphabet corporate culture, not mean it companies are wary of people who show they are whistleblowers |

GloriousGbola:The crazy thing is Aig would not just sack that guy , but would use his influence to ensure the guy never gets employed by any top tier bank in naija again. |

Afrodoc was right , an average Nigerian would oppress his or her fellow Nigerian with any little amount of power at his or her disposal
Just look at the comment section and see people suggesting the bolt guy gets what he deserved cos he must have disrespected the “honorable “🤦♂️ |

GloriousGbola:I get your point, but I feel like it's two different things, if it was whistleblowing within a corporate setup, I'd say it applies, but in this case it hardly applies. The video isn't meant to project her as some sanctimonious broad that's so opposed to DV that she's making a mountain out of a molehill... This was her involved in a dangerous situation where her partner was throwing all manner of projectiles her way, it's like the guy involved in the video below and you call him a snitch. https://x.com/ChidiOdinkalu/status/1850776640982274442?t=lpwlP1U-urh7yqyBnvDEvA&s=19 |

BlueRayDick:i was going to add that. years ago, i was fking around in the company server and i came across pictures of oil and gas ogas at te top at a party with gej. gej was on some sort of throne like chair and he was drunk. everyone has a glass of something, and everyone was laughing and smiling, but gej was clearly the only one not in control of his faculties the pictures looked like when guys get a girl drunk so they can gang-rape her i was tempted to download the picture, but i refrained from doing so - because this is the kind of shit that can get you in serious trouble if you splash it on SM. that pic was prime meme material |

GloriousGbola:You did the right thing . If u had splashed the picture son social media , u would have been surprised how the pictures would be traced back to you. No matter how you hide and cover ur tracks while releasing the picture , if they are motivated enough they will commit all resources to trace it back to you and it certainly won’t end well. |

BlueRayDick:this imho, is the problem with local players they will immediately throw 95% of institutional safety knowledge in the bin for sharp sharp profits get rid of 'wasteful' operational expenses and 'costly' vendors. we go rough am until we learn am as a naija matter, i will not be surprised to find that it is a company run by the relatives of the oga at the top of the company in question . most of your naija run company na so e dey be. and you can get away with it. but upstream, there is real risk. i am sure they will liquidate this company and resurrect it with another name |

BlueRayDick:Just another day in the jungle. 99.9% of Nigerians will do the same if given the same level of power and influence. Practically every Nigerian is a potential oppressor and tyrant. I have lived in 3 different continents and visited numerous countries, the phrase "Do you know who i am" only appears in Naija lexicon. Oppression DNA dey inside most of us. That is why when a common man become a leader, the oppression is manifested and magnified. |

Theflint1:Baba they are totally different ! The company I work with owns an aircraft and I know the kind of safety standards the regulators expect from our company before the allow they aircraft to fly . A scrapped aircraft is not the same thing as an accidents Tokunbo vehicle that was written off as total loss in Canada or America but ur mechanic here in naija brings back to life . For starters , when a vehicle is accidents abroad and it is written off as total loss ; it’s solely for the purpose of getting insurance compensation . The vehicle is written off as total loss because the insurers abroad feel repairing the car is not economically reasonable . For example if the market value of the car is $2k and the cost of repairs if like $1.8k , the insurers will just pay u $2k , take over the scrap and sell it at an auction. Now a sharp Nigerian can buy the car for let’s say $400 ships it down here , have it cleared , have mutiu Mecho bring it back to life , sell it through a dealer as tokunbo and make a reasonable profit as per our exchange rate wahala . The vehicle will still be motorable bar for maybe the airbag that no longer works, engine check light etc. That is not the same thing with an aircraft or chopper that has been scrapped abroad . A scrapped aircraft means it does not meet the international air safety standard anymore . It should never be in the air. The fact that it’s flying within Nigerian airspace is an indictment on our regulators in the aviation industry . |
