It's unfortunate that okocha was nominated for the Award when a certain Samuel Eto'o was at the peak of his strength for Barcelona. If Samuel Eto was not playing that time, Okocha would have won 2 African Caf Awards.

Okocha was even robbed the year it was given to El Hadji Diouf.

Please don't say so... Okocha was not privileged to play in top top clubs like the likes of Kanu.

To give you some insight, every club Papilo played in his peak were all champions league clubs, for more context, basically at the peak of Papilos career, my guy was playing steady champions league football. I.e Ajax, Inter Milan and Arsenal.

In all Okocha's stint at Fernabache they only featured in the champions league group stage in the 2001 season and by then Okocha had already left.

Finidi played for Ajax and played Champions league football & if I am not mistaken (correct me if I am wrong) he won a champions league trophy at Ajax, which is why he is rated highly.

Okocha despite his skills Never won any major trophy which is why he is ranked low. To be honest even Obi Mikel is rated highly because of the trophies, but pure skill alone even Mikel admits that Okocha was purely talented.

Just imagine a reality where Okocha played in a club like Real Madrid or AC Milan in the 90's... Oga him for don carry Ballon do'r.

The legacy of Okocha is that he made small clubs to become watchable & play enjoyable football, if not who for dey watch Bolton Wanderers or Eintracht Frankfurt?
