Sadly, when Aguiyi Ironsi took over as head of state, he was detribalised in his appointments, especially in the military. He had soldiers from the Northern region handling his personal security.

This was decisive in the July counter coup, as it meant that those same soldiers like TY Danjuma, could easily take him out.

It makes sense for President Tinubu to have his kinsmen handling sensitive security organisations in the country. Especially the Brigade of Guards, the military, the police, and the DSS. Makes it easier for him to defend against a coup. Unless of course, it is those same kinsmen that carry out a coup. But that would be difficult to justify. Only Northerners have that audacity.

Mr President is permitted to choose whoever he trusted to the securities posts because of the fear of *COUP* so if U look back on all the past Presidents U will confirm that it as always been like that, U have to choose pple that U really trust aside ethnic or religion.

Amateur journalism, federal character clause does not mean equal representation, it means fairness and you don't expect majority of appointments to go to regions that least supported him. Let me start by saying left to me, I don't care what tribe or religion anyone is from, I just want competent and efficient people in power. The reason we are complaining now is because the country has taken a nosedive. If the country was working, no one would care about tribe or religion of the appointees.
Having said that, while I am a critic of the Tinubu government, I can only say that Buhari did the same thing and nothing happened so Tinubu may just be justified by doing same. The problem is that it's not working!
The best economy we have had so far since 1999 was Obasanjo's administration and it can be recalled that the people who made that administration shine were mostly from other tribes. People like Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Soludo, Chikelue, Ribadu, El Rufai, Ezekwesili, and my darling Dora Akunyili of blessed memory, to mention just a few. So, you see what a President can achieve without nepotism!
