No no, I dont want to win.

Nigerian Army announced it's purchase of it's first ever aircraft, and you said:
I'm telling you "new" in the military means "newly acquired" cos the airforce has some inactive aircrafts in storage that they may reactivate and refurbish years later. So they differentiate them from "new" purchases. Meaning its new to the inventory.
So where does the airforce come into this?

And what does it mean for your argument if it turns out that we're discussing the Army here, not the Airforce?

You are just chatting gibberish at this point .

Nigerian army didn’t have old choppers so the nonsense defense about “new” not meaning “new” holds no water .

You can keep posting loads of links that anybody will never check to defend tha army for all I care . While you are posting ur links , try and share link to the price of the choppers let’s check if the prices reflect that of a second hand craft or a new one.

This ur attempt to renovate a clear press statement of the army spokesperson has fallen on its face . Nobody is buying that crap ; try again .
he is trying to educate you and ur saying he is chatting rubbish...his line of thought is sound......no one would ever believe its new

Educate who ?

Some of u don’t even know when some discussions are beyond your level .

An institution buys a 60 year old machine and presents it as new to the general public with a press statement . An asset that has almsot 0 net book value and calls it new.

People who understand finance knows that will only lead to one road ; the road to claim the price of new for an old asset . No one will believe it is new but the army calls it new. 🤦‍♂️

Someone is calling the obvious fraud out and ur buddy is saying it is sensationalism . Does that even make sense to you ?

It’s like some of you don’t know all the trillions that has been stolen from this country since independence , this is the same format that has been used by various individuals and institutions to rob the country dry . Maybe you think people just stuff bags with naira and dollars bills and carry it out of the country .
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 8:04pm On Oct 29, 2024
New can mean tear rubber, it can also mean freshly acquired, this thing could simply be a comms person using words poorly and not necessarily a grand conspiracy to hoodwink the public with 60 year old planes.

Las las, the onus is on the military to clarify the new they meant, or not grin

Where do you think National Security Adviser is finding this much cash?

A former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, told Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Abuja, how the inability of a defunct commercial bank (Diamond Bank) to disburse huge sums of money prompted the airlifting of N1.219billion cash to former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose for the governorship election in the state.

Fayose is facing trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alongside his firm, Spotless Investment Limited, following their alleged involvement in N6.9 billion money laundering.

When prosecution counsel, Wahab Shittu, SAN, asked him to shed light on the source of the said N1.219billion, Obanikoro replied that he did not know the source of the money and that he only got the information on the money from the former National Security Adviser ,NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd). He explained that it was the former NSA that contacted him that the said money had been paid into the account of Sylvan Mcnamara Ltd.

He told the court that: “I was a minister under Jonathan administration in 2014. Sometime in 2014, we were going to have an election in Ekiti State. I was saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the activities in the election. Some days before the election, I got a call from Governor Fayose asking me if I received any message for him from ONSA, I can recall that prior to that, we had some activities among which was fund raising for the purpose of that election. When Mr. Fayose called, I told him I would call him later. I had a phone conversation with the NSA, and was told he would get back to me. After, he got back to me that N2.2billion was paid into the account of Sylvan Mcnamara Ltd,” he added.

“The money came from the NSA. I can’t vouch for the source of the funds. Only the NSA can explain the source of the fund.”

"I handed over the N1.219million cash to Agbele for onward delivery to Fayose. I did not take any money or N19million, contrary to a publication by a Lagos-based online platform."

When asked about his relationship with Sylvan Mcnamara Ltd, the former minster stated that “the account was created to deal with the issue of Boko Haram in Lagos, the account was created by Taiwo Kareem and was used for the purpose of disbursing funds for election. I put a call through to let Fayose know that the money had been paid. Diamond Bank had said it did not have the capacity to make the funds available, so we opted to airlift the funds. The funds were airlifted from Lagos in two tranches, the volume was much."

"Myself, my ADC and my security orderly were there, including a top aide of Fayose to meet Mr. Agbele, the bank manager. I instructed my orderly to escort Mr Agbele and ensure the safe delivery of the money."

When Shittu asked him about the source and what the funds were meant for, Obanikoro stated that “it was meant for our election in Ekiti. It came from Diamond Bank. N1.219billion was moved from Diamond Bank out of the N2.2billion.”

Obanikoro further informed the court that Diamond bank in Ado Ekiti said it lacked the capacity. “We airlifted the funds from Lagos in two tranches because the aircraft could not accommodate the funds. We used two aircraft and I was in one of the aircrafts.

Justice Dimgba thereafter adjourned the matter to February 27, 2024 for continuation of trial.

The Airforce and The Army & Navy are all part of the Nigerian Military.
They all under one umbrella The Defence Headquarters aka DHQ. The work together.

It's not peculiar to see some sister agencies equipment get into another arm of the military control. They all also work together. The Airforce and Army work together many times. Airforce sometimes gives Close Air Support to Army.
NIMASA another agency of government, some of their helicopters have gotten into the Nigerian Navy before. Are they the same agency?

And based on the Army's continuous fight for years to get their own aircrafts being independent from the Airforce, I wouldn't get it passed them they were being over excited to call it new aircraft to boast.

Boss you understand perfectly.
Like you said it's on the military to come and clarify.

Why I didn't take the news much deeply is cos I was aware months ago when it was unveiled that it was pre-owned aircrafts.
You know say naija press no dey get time dig deep for military clarification.

The old link_ I posted even have the aircrafts info as being formerly US army inventory before being in private hands. The same June 2024 when the Army did its induction ceremony.

So I no understand wetin dem dey follow me dey drag when I said Sahara was being mischievous posting same in October.

Sir you know that article you posted earlier, can you just show me where the word airforce appears?

The statement that we're discussing was issued by Major General ONYEMA NWACHUKWU, Director ARMY Public Relations. The statement notes that aircraft were formally received by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja,

The official header of the statement as published by the Nigerian Army is NIGERIAN ARMY TAKES DELIVERY OF ITS FIRST SET OF AIRCRAFTS... As Army Aviation becomes a reality

You said, and I quote:

If the ARMY are saying that this is their fisrt ever aircraft, which means they dont have any in storage, where does the airforce come into this? did the airforce buy the bird for the army? Were they sharing owership of the previous aircraft? And where did you see Airforce in the links you posted?

Nahh dont do that.

You made an argument that the aircraft might have been called new because that airforce has some inactive aircrafts in storage that they may reactivate and refurbish years later. So they differentiate them from "new" purchases.

This is very argument that I'm addressing. If we're talking about the army NOT the airforce, and the army themselves say that this was their very first aircraft, then does your argument still apply?

And if not, then where does that leave us?

Do you not find it funny yourself that you literally had to involve a completely different armed force into a discussion of Army procurement practice to be able to justify the use of the word 'new'?

I'm actually surprised that this man doesn't understand what Sowore was flagging here.

Who is going to go to what army base to go and check whether it's new or not? Infact, who was going to Google the make and model of the aircraft to determine whether it's new or not? And even if you know like we all know that those planes are from the 60s, who is going to challenge the army for calling the aircraft new?

They announced they bought "new" aircraft, but didn't announce the cost. Where do you see that done? Most other countries announce the cost of the deal, but army did not bother. How can anyone even be arguing this in Nigeria?

for corporate nigeria, reporting is snitching - because 9 times out of 10, everybody hand dey there or has dey there

i saw the equivalent when one office bully in my department was finally reported.
we were all called in to be interviewed
when i went for the interview one of the people i saw was a person who could somehow pass information back to the person reported
i sha went for it and dropped all the info i could
at the end of the day the person reported held his seat, and the person who did the reporting was victimized

and everyone watched it happen. i even heard that one oga at the top was berating our HOD for having people that reported.

i saw a case where an oga was engaging in fraud/diversion and expected those under her to sort it out. her direct report was sacked for nonperformance. the direct eport's replacement was in the same predicament, but played a long game of using third parties to report the oga. even then, management still quashed it. it was because we had a new oyibo oga who had not been nigerianized that the matter finally got traction.

no company wanst negative attention. i am sure you remeber teh case of it shall not be well with them imokuede. when it came out everyone called AIG out, mocked him. the man took the L and went and fortified company email and data protection. and all other naija corps did the same thing. also, AIG fished out the person who leaked the email and had the person sacked.

i am saying -
companies cover up all sorts of nasty shit all the time
companies want people who only pay lip service to the alphabet corporate culture, not mean it
companies are wary of people who show they are whistleblowers
Sorta agree with both you and A40. The difference though is she most likely will get away with it at junior and mid levels - which is why A40 has a point.

At senior/board levels however, most shrewd companies will avoid getting entangled or hiring anyone whose recourse during any kind of fallout is to use the media or any form of publicity. I've seen this happen quite a bit, of course it wont be disclosed.

Anyway, I think the guy is screwed though, PWC is gonna do away with him as quickly as they can - Pretty sure he's probably been suspended at this point pending a disciplinary hearing where he'll likely be fired. I feel no pity for him as no one should be that impulsive emotionally.
