A small tuber of yam is 25-30$ here in Toronto. That’ is 1 small yam is $30. There’s money in food business.
sensationalism is not good for business. Stop it.

A tuber off yam may actùally sell for hat much but is unsustainable even for the buyer and unpredictable for the seller. Food needs bulk export.

Legally yam cannot be exported as a matter of fact the penalty for exporting yam is death....

I believe the National assembly is working on some of these old laws.
Not that these laws can be actived anytime and send you to jail....

I will advice you wait for the National assembly to conclude on the issue...

Or why do you think Nigeria produces about 60% of yam globally but less than 1% export.
I don't think they export Nigeria yam from Nigeria but from Ghana.

To make money from this business, I think you should export them in large quantities. If not, the cost of freight will take all your gains.
That’s not the issue for now. Stay on the topic.

Or why do you think Nigeria produces about 60% of yam globally but less than 1% export.

Why do you think it was so easy for the government to seize the truck load of food items at the boarders when the food scarcity started....

No reason am. There so many hidden laws the government activates them when they want to.

The "japa" movement has inspired many Nigerians to seek opportunities abroad, especially in the US, UK, and Canada. While adjusting to life overseas, they often miss the tastes of home, creating demand for authentic Nigerian foods. Nigerian cuisine, loved for its rich flavors, appeals to both Nigerians abroad and food enthusiasts. As demand grows for Nigerian ingredients, here are foods worth exporting:

Yam Flour
Yam flour, created by drying and grinding yams, is essential in Nigerian cuisine, particularly for preparing Amala, a cherished staple often paired with traditional Nigerian soups. It's light, has a long shelf life, and is naturally gluten-free, making it appealing to health- conscious consumers globally.

For export, ensure your yam flour is packaged and processed according to international standards. Highlight its gluten-free quality to attract both African and international customers.

Palm Oil
Palm oil plays a crucial role in many West African dishes, delivering a distinct, authentic flavour that's difficult to substitute. Beyond cooking, it's also commonly found in cosmetics and wellness products. Nigerian palm oil, when sustainably and ethically sourced, holds strong appeal in Western markets.

Ensure that your palm oil is certified as sustainably sourced, as environmental considerations are increasingly important to Western consumers. Additionally, make sure it meets FDA and EU regulatory standards for successful export.

Try to understand me, bro. Nigerian yams are being exported from Ghana, packaged with Ghanaian materials. From Nigeria to Ghana, Nigeria to Niger—none of this is officially recorded, as it bypasses the standard export process.

I read it somewhere that you have to perboil it for few minutes, you then dry and ground it into powder form.

That's why I said you need to understand what export is.
The moment the yam left the boarders of Nigeria that is exportation.
Packaging is not what makes it export...

Cool. You can also “export” yourself to any of these countries and indeed any English-Speaking country abroad if you perform exceptionally well in IELTS, CELPIP, etc. alongside other requirements like Educational qualifications, Age, Marital status etc. To get started on your international journey via IELTS or CELPIP ASAP, please reach out to us via the numbers below. Thank you

The valuable part of this information should be how, some of us have access to the produce but can't export.

Someone said, if you don't have someone you trust over there, it's impossible.

Okay, if you say so. Many Naigeerians consume food prepared with palm oil daily, atleast 2 times 7 days a week.

This is why many Naigeerian are suffering with colesterol related illnesses in ignorance. They believe it is lies that palm oil could make them ill. My own mother is an example.

Is it even easy exporting things, especially food from Nigeria through sea? What's the procedure like? Thinking about the potential bureaucracy and logistical challenges in Nigeria even makes me afraid. Someone please share your exeprience or knowledge.

same way they turn our morsel foods to swallow. at parties you hear them ask 'do want swallow' (even in our local dialect, they end up saying swallow) rather than do you care for eba, fufu, pounded yam, amala, semo etc, what variety that is available.
