Equally got passed the preapproval stage today for abuja embassy (f1), I filled that form (emailed) also. Raised a ticket too. Anyways only dates from February 2025 were available, so emergency appointment is the way forward.
Is this for Abuja only?

Please what about lagos?

I am tired of waiting.

Good day house.

Please, is it that if you pay with card, your approval will be immediate and you won't experience this waiting (pre-approval delay) shenanigans?
Who can answer this question please? If the card payment goes through successfully, will you still be at the pre-approval stage? Or should your card payment be successful, you'd be moved to appointment scheduling page immediate?

It states at the end that the navigator doesn't collect or transmit information and I have sent a complaint on my situtation to the provided email since Tuesday. I am still yet to receive a feedback or resolution on the preapproval delay in its fifth week of action.

The advise has been reiterated here several times. Please do not wait. Open a new profile, pay the money again. Pay for Abuja this time around.

Please I need your help! I created DS-160 and didn’t get to the stage to enter my date of birth before I copied the application ID and proceeded to making MRV fee payment on AVITS. I just realized now that I can’t access my DS-160 using that application ID, even after providing the first five letters of my first name and the answer to my security question. I can’t proceed because my date of birth was never entered. I have now created an Emergency Assistance ticket on AVITS and lodged the complaint. If that won’t work, I’d really appreciate any advice you may have for me.

*Note that I have made an update to this comment in a later one

As sad and disappointing as this may sound, I think it may be the most feasible way forward for those of us witnessing preapproval delays from the Lagos Consulate (perhaps depending on intended travel date though. I am looking at December ending and I have not even been able to schedule an appointment).

(Lagos Consulate has not ceased to disappoint in one way or another in all my applications. I gave them a benefit of doubt and had hoped things would have been better especially with their VISA application website transition but look where we are cheesy). I'm likely doing this next week if things don't change. Hopefully a positive outcome on the entire application caps it all and makes it all worth it by God's grace. It is well.

Wishing everyone the best.

A positive update to this guys - I received an email notifying me of the approval of my preapproval request (I am applying for J1 VISA renewal at Lagos) less than two hours ago. (In case you didn't catch that before now, it's been my fifth week waiting on preapproval request processing). I have now been able to schedule an appointment to drop off my application documents with OIS next week. (A big relief. Thank God!)

I made a phone call to one of the US embassy contacts again this morning. I was directed to follow up my previous email notifying lagosniv@state.gov on Tuesday of my issue and to copy nigeria@usvisaapt.com (I somehow found out that I did not eventually copy the latter in the email but I made sure to send them a separate email referencing the one I sent to lagosniv... and how the email was yet to be addressed). I literally made a plea for consideration or feedback in the emails I sent today (and also attached a screenshot of the preapproval thing in my AVITS portal alongside the other details that was directed to be included by the form).

Not sure if that was what worked (concerned people should definitely give it a try!) but I thank God in all because I was just giving up to be honest. Growing weary of the preapproval delay, I had just taken a trip from Akure to Lagos earlier this week to attempt dropping off my application documents with OIS yesterday without the interview waiver confirmation letter from AVITS but of course, it wasn't successful. God is faithful!

Wishing everyone the best in the process.

Take any available date, then apply for expedited appointment. Make sure you have paid your SEVIS fee. Write the date of resumption on the information part of the request, the course and the school. Write your SEVIS number and the fact that you have paid the SEVIS fee, then make sure you upload your i20 document. You will get dates in November. It's possible you get October dates too.
Hi @deees or any other person, please how long do expedited appointment requests take to get approved, and would they send an email?

I got approval within 3 hours. I included that I had paid my SEVIS fee in the information I gave, I don't know if it was what helped but I know coming across the fact that on the old platform, you had to pay SEVIS fee before an expedited appointment can be given. So I will advise anyone just paying for visa fee to pay SEVIS fee immediately too.

Can someone send email for preapproval pending issue without submitting ds-160 or attaching the confirmation page?

I just applied, did you get an email when you were approved? and did your dashboard change when you applied for the emergency, cos nothing changed for me

I have a question, please if my request for emergency appointment is denied, can I apply for another emergency appointment? If no, what if I pay another MRV fee for a brand new application, will that enable me request for an emergency appointment? Thanks

[quote author=vickysunmomi post=132314034]Hey vickysunmomi,

I wanted to ask you, please, what was your response to the question “Was your prior Bleep visa annotated" on the AVITS portal?

Was it a YES or a NO? I understood this part is the determinant factor for interview waiver.

Thank you.

You will get an email as well as a notification in the notification tab. When you do, just go to the appointment and click on reschedule. It will bring earlier dates.

Congrats. My preapproval was initially rejected but i uploaded more detailed doc and got approved after 4 weeks.

Please after answering the IW questions how do you know if you are approved for Dropbox. To the best of my knowledge, I meet all the requirements for Dropbox but after answering the questions it took me to a page to pick appointment date but the header has consulate appointment. Does this mean I was not approved for Dropbox?

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by DFocus: 12:43am On Nov 02, 2024
After I answered the questions and stuff, it told me that I may be eligible to apply via interview waiver and asked me if I wanted to go through that path which I did. It then asked me how I wanted the documents returned. Eventually, I think I got to the same point you made a screenshot of and I just picked the earliest date I could for Lagos. After that, I was able to download the interview waiver confirmation letter... This is as far as I can recall. I cannot really recall how exactly the order of the whole thing was. Hope you find this helpful though.

@zinachidi, has your emergency appointment request been approved yet and are you for Lagos? Cause I just saw an early November date for Lagos which one can reschedule to. I am for abuja that’s why I didn’t select it, earlier dates are opening up little by little, January dates are also open for abuja rn.
