We need to to do everything in our power to stop people from traveling abroad otherwise we will have no country. If everyone runs abroad, who will fix the country? High time government does something drastic before it's too late.

While I agree with your intentions to discourage emigration… your proposed ideas makes zero sense sorry.

1. India, China, Indonesia among others doesn’t allow dual citizenship too, that hasn’t stopped their citizens from leaving. Humans will always move, that’s part of our natural traits.

2. Sending home 10% ?? Dead on arrival. The US is one of the few countries with foreign tax, there is a certain amount you should make before you’re asking to pay tax e.g. you have to make atleast 200k and above. Here you are proposing to send 10% of all my income to a country that I don’t live and offer me no benefits whatsoever for being a citizen living outside of the country. We have no effectively perfect our tax collection nationally, you’re jumping to abroad income 😂😂😂

3. Close all embassies and consulates? The is pure ignorance cos embassies and consulates don’t exist only for their citizens abroad. Even North Korea maintain embassies where they are allowed to have one, had atleast 40 of them across the world even though their country has been on lockdown for decades.

Here’s insights for you …
- Somalia is one of the fast growing countries in Africa because it’s making progressive policies to attract their citizens abroad.

- Iraqi, El Salvador, Ghana, Benin republic, Zambia, Dominican Republic … are example of countries that’s constantly attracting their citizens abroad to invest home and some moving back permanently to invest. All they has to do was make better policies.

This is a welcome development. The cost of flight, accommodation, and feeding is sometimes three or four times the cost of the passport renewal in the US, unless you live in or close to the cities with consulates. How would they do data capturing though?

No it's not except when done right.
This was introduced earlier this year. I paid online, waiting over 2 months and nothing came. I called and they ask to come in. Took time off, drove and even paid for parking. Tried speaking to someone, he was on Whatsapp call and chat (very useless set of workers). He asked for a receipt which I gave to him. He asked for voucher which is the same. I asked if it s electronic and I filled online, you should have the record in the system? He said to me: You can leave now. Make I no finish the rest of the story.

Naija needs full reform. All these news about development na trash to make who no know feel good about what's really not happening
