Hi Daejumong, I am a new Christian convert with 4 wives! My pastor said I need to send three of my women away except the first wife! He said it is called restitution and it’s important for my new life in Christ!

My wives have all given their lives to Christ as well and I love them and not keen on sending any of them away.
I am a 38yr old man living in the northern part of Nigeria and I used to be a Muslim .

Sir, what should I do? Can’t I keep all of them and we all serve God together?

JESUS! False doctrine! The WORD of God never said that. Marrying more than one wife is distracting as a Christian but is NOT a sin

You are not required return your wives back. You married them properly.

Why would you push your three wives into temptation of Adultery? Beware of false teachings!

Who told you that marrying more than one is a sin?
If that pastor tells you it's a sin to marry more than one because it's an old testament practice, ask him why he collects tithes which is also an old testament doctrine.,

Deuteronomy 21:1-17 suggest marriage of multiple wives including captured prisoners gotten from conquests.

Elkanah a godly man and father of Samuel had 2 wives. Abraham, the father of faith had two wives!

In 2 Samuel 12 when the prophet Nathan confronts David over his sin with Bathsheba, we read: "This is what the Lord God of Israel says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. I have given you your master's house and your master's wives into your bosom … and I gave you the house of Israel and Judah, and as if this wasn't enough, I would have given you even more."

Is it that all of these men of God were not guided (by the Holy spirit) in their marriages?

And lastly Yahweh prescribed law to protect first wife in Polygamy- Exo 21:10 "If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights."

Christianity and confusion are almost synonymous. Jesus himself said, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them" (Matthew 5:17). This verse has so many interpretations, just because Christians want to reject old laws and follow their own man-made doctrines. Some say the above Verse means that Jesus came to complete the purpose of the law, some say he was showing the reason for the law, and others believe he fulfilled the law and that believers in Christ are no longer under it. It's all quite confusing!

And you know what's wild? If a new convert follows a pastor's teaching and divorces his other wives, he's doing those wives a huge injustice. Furthermore, if you mention some old laws, pastors would say, "Oh, that's just the Old Testament." But, they conveniently keep the tithing law from the Old Testament while condemning others.

Honestly, if someone divorces his other wives because he converted to Christianity, he's causing great harm. Polygamy was part of the Old Testament, which Jesus didn't come to change. Adding more wives might not be encouraged, but keeping the existing ones should be okay. It's like when someone's been wounded – even after the wound heals, the scars remain. It's not right to condemn or reject someone because of their scars. Personally, I believe the remaining wives of a Christian convert are as legal as the first wife, not just scars from the past.

Not a sin. Jesus never wanted us to perish in hell due to sin. Jesus would have used most of his teachings to preach against polygamy if it would lead to sin and hell.

I don’t believe marrying more than one wife is a sin

Don't mind that your pastor. Perhaps he envies one of your wives. It is advisable in the Christendom to be a husband of one wife. In this way you are qualified to hold positions in the church. You can be a pastor, elder, Deacon or Bishop. It is stated clearly that to be in this position you must be a husband of one wife. If you have more than one you are disqualified.
This means you can still be a Christian but must not hold positions of trust in the church. Btw despite being a new convert you may know the Bible more than your so-called pastors.

Show me the Bible verse or scriptural injunction that discourages polygamy in Christianity.

I don't like it when people smuggle their subjective (and hypocritical) moral preferences into Christianity.

I what can see in Christians, they leave a life of fiction, illusion,and delusion, life of imagination, fake life, that's all I can see in them

If men were God, I'm sure no mercy will be applied in carrying out justice. If men were God, that woman caught in adultery would have had the law carried out on her, and the executioners would have been justified.

Having 4wives is not a sin, Not being capable or capability to take good care of them is the sin.

It's better to marry 4wives legitimately than having concubines and bastards secretly all in the name of religion, doctrine or belief.

Lies. Shut up there you false prophet. The bible didn't forbid marrying more than one wife anywhere... If you have it I challenge you.

Polygamy was not described as a sin in the bible. There was no commandment from God disallowing that. So if you have legally married them, keep them for they are your wives.
