That these kids have govt issued ID stating they are adults doesn't make them adult, if government doesn't want to open the can of worms of how they get those documents then they should just set them free.

If minors are used for election fraud, it is the job of government and its agencies to fish out all adults involved in that fraud and prosecute them. Has the government done that ? No! Why ? Because the election fraud has favored the government . ( Ues it was in the wake of 2019 presidential elections we saw pictures of kids on voters register and that favored Buhari’s second term bid)

Now if a kid is alleged to have committed a crime , the law says u can only that kid within the child judicial system. There is no ifs and buts . The law does not say if the child is almajiri such child should be taken to an adult court to be tried or remanded in an adult prison . That is not the law .

Let’s not start bringing issues that are independent of each other just to win an argument . The reason why the AGF is stepping in at this point is because he has seen the obvious mess up from the government’s side. It’s as simple as that .

The key difference is that the ID is not Oluwole. It's genuine and there can't be 2 Dayos. That's the purpose of an ID in the first place which is why I can't claim to be Tinubu or Dangote and go claim their money in a bank

It seemed to us that they were minors during elections but their parents claimed they were adults with evidence of a proper original govt ID.

It's that same ID that is now being used to get their age regardless of what your eyes tell you.

This would’ve made sense exactly for the fact that FG will drop charges against the minors while they will proceed with prosecution of the adults .

When the story will be written in the future , it will be said that the federal government docked minors with adults following the EndBadGovernance protests, the charges against the minors were dropped following public outcry and that’s that.

You may not like it that way , but it is what it is.

Also, the defence counsel for all 119 defendants, Marshall Abubakar, in a telephone conversation with our correspondent, confirmed that steps were being taken to drop the charges against the children this week, especially since the AGF had requested transfer of the case file.

“The government has been calling; the AGF has called. I think, most likely, by next week (this week) we will get the charges thrown out,” Abubakar said.

He also confirmed that the minors among the 119 remanded protesters were in the custody of the SARS IRT, adding that they were kept in a large hall as the purported Borstal system for juvenile detention was non-existent.

“The children were taken to IRT SARS. There is a big hall there where they are kept because there is actually no Borstal Centre.”
