Nigerian professors neither do ground breaking research nor publish peer-reviewed papers in large numbers. When you are looking for scholarly articles, you will sometimes find Nigerian authored papers but would notice that they are based in overseas universities.

Professor should work with government to get rid of sex for grades, cultism, exam malpractices, etc before asking for more money.

Yes they are, because they are the worst in productivity.
They have no innovation and solutions to the problem of Nigeria.

You don’t need tools to write cutting edge papers in areas of studies like Maths, Social sciences, Computer Sciences, etc.

Maybe if they stop chasing younger women and start focusing on research, they would start becoming productive.

Exactly. You hit the nail on the head.
9 years ago before this bunch of locust and misfits called apc came in, supported by certain crazy Nigerians, that profs salary would have been $3k, today it is less than $250! I see folks on this forum yabing the lecturers for complaining, anyway I guess most of them are naive people and so may not understand the implications of the educational system collapsing. Some people will be able to send their kids to the best private universities in Nigeria or even abroad, but what of the generality of Nigerians? How will the country ever progress when all the best hands have left, when being a teacher from primary to university is not attractive, when new profs do not replace the retiring ones?
See, I was at my secondary sch last week to get result for my bro and I, I was shocked at what I saw, here in Lagos ohh. The place was dilapidated! Collapsed roofs, broken windows, completely run down. A proper place back in the days of the military, even text books, exercise books was given to us, as good as the current expensive private secondary schools we have now. I had to wonder, the good impressions I had of sanwo olu was shattered. Those politicians wear wristwatches worth millions, just the money they use to buy 1 land cruiser bullet proof will turn that school back to standard. Where is the conscience? How can you fly private jet as governor, keep your kids in schools abroad while kids of ordinary Nigerians have to attend such squalor of a school? What is the future for Nigerian kids? Even the staff are hungry, hear the 10s of thousands they are demanding to give 2 results from the late 80s.
If you have the means and still young, omo move your family abroad, what I saw last week spoilt my mind jare.

Nigerians like to compare whatever happens in Nigeria with The US, especially the dollars. In the USA, in many states, a three bedroom apartment goes for between US$2,500 to US$3,500 per month. How much is that in Nigerian naira and how many will be willing to pay such per month. Lecturers in many of these countries are also poorly paid in relative terms.
ASUU should focus on making Nigeria get it right with leadership through education. Many of the bad policies by any ruling government are always the handwork of the professors and other academicians, so why the complain and comparison?
