OkpaNsukkaisBae:Gbam! This is what I was saying the other day . By virtue of the child rights act, detaining those kids for that long and even trying them in an adult court is illegal. The child rights act is not just some fanciful law we can decide to overlook . Nigeria is signatory to some international treaties that makes it mandatory for us to protect the rights of minor; that’s how the child rights act in Nigeria came into being . The moment we choose to disregard what the child rights act says about those minors appearing in court the way they did; the international community starts looking at us with funny face . We start signaling we are worse than some states we call dictatorship state . The next time we go hat in hand to beg for grants and loans , they start denying us just for that reason which the foreign media would’ve well documented . T-pain quickly sanctioning their release after the show of shame knows what is at stake ; maybe his followers and supporters don’t sha. |

Theflint1:It was obvious he had no choice but to allow common sense prevail . He has a lot to lose refusing to fold na . He only sacrificed the ego of his supporters/defenders to do the right thing . That’s not a price too big to pay if u ask me |

Bola Tinubu revealed on Monday that the ratio of Nigeria's debt servicing to its revenue has seen a significant reduction, dropping from around 97 percent when he took office 17 months ago to 65 percent at present. Tinubu remarked that his administration has successfully navigated the country through challenging times. The President delivered a statement during the swearing-in ceremony of seven new ministers held at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja. He said, “For us, it was a challenge when the nation was servicing its debt with 97 per cent of its revenue. It was nothing but the edge of the cliff. “But today, I can report to you that we have brought that down to 65 per cent, and we have never defaulted in meeting all obligations, both foreign and domestic. “We have our head above water. All other countries around us and across the world are also facing challenges. “We have taken the bull by the horns. We have stopped the scavengers. We will fully put an end to the profiteers and smugglers of our resources across the country. “We are not shirking our responsibility; we are confronting it head-on. “Economic recovery is on the horizon. We are on a good path to realise our dreams, not just for us, but for our children and grandchildren. “Despite the challenges, we must undertake the job of re-engineering and retooling this country’s economic path. “Yes, the cost of living has risen. I acknowledge that. We have fulfilled our obligation of paying a new minimum wage across the board…we are navigating through this and working diligently.” |

Ellexy:The executive can withdraw their case, they have no right to dictate to the judiciary. If this is what you are lauding now that executive can dictate to judiciary, I hope you keep the energy up when this becomes the norm |
